Corporate Giving:
Norwegian in the Community

Norwegian Cruise Line is proud of its corporate giving programs and to support organizations that help those in need.

The spirit of corporate giving is an important part of Norwegian’s company culture - one that each and every shipboard and shoreside team member embraces. Collectively, team members have provided assistance when large-scale disasters have struck such as earthquakes and hurricanes by donating thousands of supplies, often delivered into the affected areas by Norwegian’s ships. Norwegian also often assists partners in port destinations by donating much needed supplies, as well as gifts for the holidays for those in need.

Camillus House

Norwegian Cruise Line Campus of Camillus House

In 2011, Norwegian made a $5 million commitment to Camillus House, an organization that provides humanitarian services to persons who are poor and homeless in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The pledge represents the largest corporate contribution to Camillus House’s capital campaign. In recognition of Norwegian’s pledge, the charity named its new, 340-bed facility “Norwegian Cruise Line Campus of Camillus House.” The Norwegian Cruise Line Campus will provide services to more than 3,000 people in need each year integrated with a variety of employment, social service and clinical treatment programs, including an expansion of emergency housing and a residential treatment center for women and Spanish-speaking individuals. In addition, the Campus will provide emergency, treatment and permanent housing beds; basic human services of food, clothing, showers and overnight shelter; primary health care; residential and outpatient treatment for mental illness and addiction; employment training and job placement and a kennel for pets.

Camillus House has provided humanitarian services to the indigent and homeless populations of Miami-Dade County, Florida for nearly 50 years. Established in 1960, Camillus House has grown steadily over the years from a small overnight shelter into a full service center offering a full “continuum of care” for persons who are poor and homeless.

Team members based out of Norwegian’s Miami and Sawgrass Florida offices formed hands-on engagement committees to further support the company’s efforts with Camillus House through: mentoring those moving from shelters into assisted housing developments; conducting supply, gift and monetary drives; cooking for the shelters; and painting and landscaping the charity’s various shelters and housing developments.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation®

Norwegian is also proud to work closely with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America in helping to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. We make wishes come true aboard our ships for children nationwide. Norwegian creates memories to last a lifetime for each wish kid whose dream is to visit one of the line’s amazing destinations or experience what the fleets of Freestyle Cruising ships have to offer. Norwegian tailors each child’s experience based on their interests and have included being an honorary “Captain for a day” and special behind-the-scenes tours, along with private meet-and-greets with Nickelodeon characters and the ultimate honor -- getting slimed.
