Unlike many other Alaska destinations, Ketchikan fishing is in protected waters, a short ride from the marina. You can choose to custom process your halibut, as well as purchase a selection of local Alaskan seafood to include with the shipment of your bounty home. Note: Participants must be at least 5 years of age, weigh a minimum of 30 lbs and a maximum of 300 lbs. Deck or rubber soled shoes must be worn on board. The catamaran’s extraordinary maneuverability will allow you to get close to North Sawyer Glacier, which cannot be approached by larger ships. You’ll then cruise slowly past seals resting atop recently-carved icebergs en route to a viewing stop near the face of spectacular South Sawyer Glacier. From the topside observation deck, you’ll be able to fully experience 'white thunder,' as immense spires of ice break from the glacier and crash into the sea. Following an extended drift near the glacier’s face, the catamaran will maneuver back into open water to pull alongside your awaiting cruise ship. Note: We recommend participants bring a warm jacket, hat and gloves to wear on the observation deck. In the event that unpredictable and ever-changing ice conditions preclude the vessel from entering the upper reaches of Tracy Arm fjord, the tour will be modified to explore Endicott Arm, an adjacent fjord and tidewater glacier of equal beauty. Due to diminishing daylight and ice condition this tour is not available in early May and mid to late September. This tour is available for guests on Norwegian Jewel only. less

Travel by deluxe jet boat to explore the very best of the Tracy Arm wilderness area, including exciting close up views of the majestic Sawyer Glaciers. Relax in the warm, spacious cabin as your experienced Captain guides you through scenic passages and into the heart of a place that has, until recently, been buried for centuries by glacial ice. Here, the extraordinary maneuverability of the Katlian Express will allow you to glide quietly past curious seals and icebergs, to get as close as possible to the ever changing face of South Sawyer Glacier. Be sure to spend time on the topside observation deck where you'll be able to enjoy this unforgettable experience with all your senses. Sometimes, you can even feel the "white thunder", as immense spires of ice break from the glacier and crash into the sea. Before departing the head of Tracy Arm you will also view beautiful North Sawyer Glacier, which cannot be approached by large cruise ships. While exploring the full length of this ice-carved fjord you'll cruise beneath cliffs that rise 4000 feet above the jade colored sea. And you can even feel the mist on your face as the vessel maneuvers almost directly under a plunging waterfall. There will be frequent stops to view wildlife, such as bald eagles, harbor seals and mountain goats, and encounters with bears and whales are not uncommon. Throughout the voyage, your onboard naturalist will provide a wealth of information about the area, which naturalist John Muir called "one of the most dramatically stunning fjords in Alaska". You'll also enjoy a picnic style dinner and a variety of complimentary snacks and beverages, served by your friendly Alaskan crew as you trace the rugged shores of Stephens Passage on the cruise north to Juneau. The vessel is equipped with deluxe seating, a snack bar and restroom. Note: Participants must be able to negotiate 4 to 5 steps and walk a short distance with minor assistance. We recommend participants bring a warm jacket, hat and gloves to wear on the observation deck. In the event that unpredictable and ever changing ice conditions preclude the vessel from entering the upper reaches of Tracy Arm Fjord, the tour will be modified to explore Endicott Arm, an adjacent fjord and tidewater glacier of equal beauty. Due to diminishing daylight and ice conditions, this tour is not available in early May and September. This tour is only available for guests on Norwegian Pearl. less
