Travel into the Sierra Madre Mountains towards Argovia Plantation and Estate for your authentic temazcal experience. Upon arrival, you’ll be given a complimentary drink and educational information about the history of the Temazcal and its importance in ancient cultures. A safety briefing will be provided before your sweat bath. After your Temazcal experience, you’ll be applied a clay facial mask, which you will rinse off short after. Lastly, refresh yourself with a snack, taste some coffee or shop at the local stores before returning to your ship. Note: Participants must be at least 12 years of age. Guest should wear a hat and comfortable shoes. There will be some time to change clothes, if needed, prior to and following the bath. Most areas are not wheelchair accessible. Participants must be in good health and sign a waiver release form. The maximum age recommended for participants is 70 years of age. less

Take a scenic drive to the tropical forest area of Bijagual, which is located near the boundaries of the Carara Biological Reserve. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to visit Pura Vida Botanical Gardens, one of the most spectacular private gardens in Costa Rica. See beautifully manicured gardens noticing that they are also bordered by one of the tallest waterfalls in the country. Pura Vida is home to over 60,000 flowering plants, including 60 varieties of heliconia, 10 varieties of ginger, and orchids. Look for butterflies, macaws, parrots, parakeets, toucans, kingfishers, birds of prey, and waterfowl. During the 1 1/2 hour guided walk along gravel trails, your guide will help you explore this incredible wonderland. Take in the ocean views in the distance as you meander through the walkways and see some wildlife. After the walk concludes, continue on for a few minutes to Villa Lapas Ecological Hotel, where fresh tropical fruits will replenish your energy. Then browse the gift shop for souvenirs before heading back to your ship. Weather permitting, a quick stop will also made at the Tarcoles River for crocodile observation. Note: Participants must be in good health. Those with severe walking or mobility issues should not participate, as there is required walking on gravel terrain with some inclines. Learn about some of the world’s endangered species of turtles. You’ll meet seven of eight species of marine turtles that exist worldwide at the Turtle Sanctuary located in Mazunte. This sanctuary is dedicated to the breeding study and preservation of turtles. You’ll also see different growing stages and learn what the Mexican government is doing to protect these very special creatures. Some of the marine turtles swim to the local shores to lay their eggs every year. Your next stop will be a cottage industry and cosmetic’s factory, set up in Mexico by 'The Body Shop' and now exporting their products around the world. Here, you may buy cold and facial masks, creams, shampoo, soap and oils, prepared only with natural ingredients. Then continue to Ventanilla Lagoon, a little community dedicated to maintain and preserve a crocodile farm. Ride a non-motorized canoe to see crocodiles, several species in their natural habitat; such as birds, raccoons, wild ducks, iguanas, crustaceans and reptiles. Note: Participants must be 8 years of age and in good physical conditions. Bring repellent, wear sunscreen and comfortable shoes. The nature of the tour requires walking both in the museum and the crocodile farm areas. The trails are mostly rough roads. less

This unique dolphin experience allows small children, ages four to eight, to get closer to dolphins than they ever dreamed possible. The program starts with a poolside introduction to a family of dolphins. Children can touch and interact with them in a hands-on session led by an experienced dolphin trainer on a shallow shelf in a specially designed maternity pool. A special feature of the Dolphin Kids program is that the youngest members of the dolphin adventure family participate alongside their mothers in this very unique family experience. Everyone will receive a friendly dolphin kiss and have a chance to pet and hug the dolphins. Parents may accompany their children to the dolphin center by paying for an observer ticket, but will not participate in the water with the dolphins. Note: Participants must be between 4 and 8 years of age. This is a Dolphin Kids Encounter program. Parents must buy an observer ticket, but cannot participate in the water with the dolphins. Do not wear jewelry or sunscreen lotion as it may be harmful to the animals. Wear your swimsuit under your clothing and bring a towel. Lockers available free of charge. See sheer granite cliffs, 1,000-foot waterfalls, crystalline lakes and low-hanging mists on your flight from Tongass Narrows over Revillagigedo Island to Misty Fjords. At the entrance of spectacular Rudyard Bay, your introduction to the Monument, see New Eddystone Rock, a striking remnant of early geological activity. An exhilarating water landing where you’ll have the opportunity to step out onto the floatplane pontoons in Misty Fjords, gives you the opportunity to experience the silence, serenity, and monumental beauty that surrounds you. Eagles, bears, mountain goats, whales and sea lions are some of the wildlife you may observe on your floatplane adventure. Enjoy specially choreographed music and narration during your tour. Visit the Montserrat Children’ Home, an orphanage created in 1982 by Fray Casiano de Madrid. Here, you’ll be welcomed by one of the sisters and children. Your tour guide will serve as interpreter as you are given an explanation of the programs carried at the home. You’ll meet and partake with the children as you learn about their daily duties, games and programs. These children are brought up with good values and manners which can be applied to their future adult lives. The home was operated by a group of young ladies who later became the Congregation of Missionary Sisters of the Assumption. Today, they provide comprehensive care to dozens of children from the ages of one through 18 and aim to give them the best possible quality of life. Next, visit the orchid’s farm, located in the small village of Miramar. Here, you'll learn about the orchid’s habitat, their means of cultivation, blooming and how they are prepared for export. Your guide will acquaint you with the country’s history, politics and culture while you admire the northern countryside and landscape. Costa Rica is a blessed country with year-round spring weather, and the exuberance of its flora has given it the name of Garden of the Americas. Then join one of our dog handlers and sled dogs for interactive demonstrations on mushing equipment and the impeccable care the dogs receive. Take part in one of Mexico’s most valued traditions as you taste a variety of Mexico’s famous Tequila and Mezcal. From the pier, you’ll be transferred to a historic local house that has been transformed into a boutique hotel. This charming setting boasts a collection of local folk art and exotic plant arrangements from the region. The owner will show you around the grounds before gathering the group in the dining room. Learn about the tequila and mezcal making processes as well as the different properties that make each unique. After a brief history lesson, you’ll have the opportunity to taste some of Mexico’s best tequila and mezcal. Then, enjoy a demonstration on how to mix tequila into the perfect margarita. Afterwards, you will travel by van to the culturally diverse city of Tapachula. Its history and heritage has been influenced not only by the Mayans, Mestizo and Spanish but by German, Chinese, Japanese and French immigrants as well. You’ll have the opportunity to visit the town square where you’ll find a historic church, the city hall building as well as vendors and small stores.
