Explore Alaska’s wilderness by boat and savor Dungeness crab amid the hospitality of a historic Alaska lodge. At George Inlet Lodge, board your vessel and cruise the Inside Passage waterway on a journey that explores the region’s history and natural beauty. On your journey up the fjord, you’ll pass the old George Inlet Cannery, and Mahoney River Valley, home to bears, eagles, and salmon that return to spawn annually. Cross the fjord and view the Tongass National Forest in its entire splendor. A remote cove is home to Dungeness crab. Volunteers help pull crab pots, and while these crab are set free, you’ll have the opportunity to see them up close and learn about their anatomy and life cycle. Once the pots are reset, return to the lodge for a well-deserved meal that includes a beverage, oriental salad, steamed baby red potatoes, one full serving of Dungeness crab, and a slice of cheesecake smothered in Alaskan blueberries! Travel through Juneau’s downtown to the Mendenhall Glacier. Stroll the many walkways or enjoy the Visitor Center, then board your motorcoach for a trip to Macaulay Salmon Hatchery. Your hatchery visit will start off with viewing the lifecycle of the salmon in action. From May through mid-June you'll be able to feed salmon fry in the hatchery waters. From late June through September different species of salmon begin returning to hatchery facility to complete their lifecycle. The hatchery also boasts several exotic aquariums rich with Juneau area sea life and a touch tank that allows a more hands-on experience. From the hatchery your guide will drive you a short distance to the Gold Creek Salmon. From the hatchery your guide will drive you a short distance to the Gold Creek Salmon. At the Gold Creek Salmon Bake, wild Alaskan caught salmon is grilled over an open alderwood fire. Enjoy baked chicken, baked beans, wild-rice pilaf, a variety of fresh salads, corn bread, blueberry cake, and lemonade, coffee or tea. Beer and wine are available for an additional charge. Dine beside Salmon Creek, nestled in the lush foliage of Southeast Alaska’s rainforest, under translucent domes that protect you rain or shine. Afterwards, roast marshmallows over a crackling campfire and view the beautiful Salmon Creek waterfall; remnants of the historic Wagner Mine can also be seen. Get ready to catch Dolly Varden, Sockeye and Pink Salmon on this one of a kind excursion. You’ll be met and taken to the small boat harbor to board your ferry for the journey to Haines. Keep an eye out for seals, whales and other wildlife as you listen to the stories of Skagway, Haines and upper Lynn Canal. Upon arrival in Haines you’ll be transported to Chilkoot Lake for your fishing adventure. There’s a maximum of 6 anglers per boat and everyone is in control of their own rod and reel. Experienced guides take care of all the baiting, netting and tangled lines so you can enjoy yourself fishing.
Keep a look out for some of the lakes locals, the majestic Bald Eagle and great coastal brown bears make this picturesque valley home and are fairly cooperative in posing for pictures. Be sure to bring layered clothing and extra film. “The fish you catch make the best pictures, the ones that got away make the best stories, and the time you spend make the best memories.” All gear, rods, reels, bait, lures, snacks, some rain gear, and safety equipment are provided.
Note: Participants must be at least 5 years of age. Fishing duration is approximately 3 hours. Alaska State Law requires a fishing license that can be purchased on the fishing boat for $20. Guests 15 and under do not need licenses. Fishing is conducted on a catch-and-release basis.

Get ready for an Alaskan wilderness adventure on the Takshanuk Mountain Trail in Tongass National Forest! ake the wheel of a 4X4 Kawasaki Mule and join your guides as you journey through spectacular mountains and forests. Start with a scenic cruise aboard a high-speed catamaran down North America’s longest and deepest Fjord to the town of Haines. After your safety briefing, you’re ready to board your 4X4 and start your adventure.
Get your camera ready to snap the breathtaking scenery including mountain streams, a cascading waterfall, a scenic alpine lake, and the occasional eagle or bear! At the meadow, take in the panoramic view of Lynn Canal, Chilkoot Lake and the snow-capped mountains. Stop at mountaintop lodge for a freshly prepared meal of Halibut and chicken meal, with all of the fixings! (Vegetarian meals are available with a 24 hrs. notice). Make your way back to the trailhead and board your bus for a short tour of Haines and Fort William H. Seward.
Note: Participants who are going to drive the Mule must be at least 21 years of age and must provide a valid driver’s license. Pregnant women or guests with back or neck injuries are not able to participate.

Departing the cruise pier you’ll head into the heart of downtown, a bustling urban environment surrounded by water and mountains.
This tour will take you into the second largest Chinatown in North America, through the renovated and popular Gastown District and into Stanley Park, where the locals come to relax and play. Stanley Park is larger in size than New York City’s Central Park, and is home to old growth trees and a spectacular display of First Nation Totem Poles. You’ll have an opportunity to explore some of Stanley Park and take photos of the Mountain Range rising just outside of the city. Keep your eyes peeled for game sites of the 2010 Olympics. This excursion guarantees excellent eagle viewing. Majestic totems and a waterfront clan house demonstrate the historical native culture at Totem Bight State Park. Get a close-up view of Guard Island Lighthouse. Enjoy a short narrated drive through Ketchikan en route to meet your Captain and Alaskan crew. Board your vessel, where you’ll hear professional narration, while you munch on salmon spread, cheese, crackers, fresh fruit, and cookies. Hot chocolate, coffee, tea, water, or soft drinks are all free. Relax in the heated main cabin or experience the open-air observation deck. Observe the areas of harvest and ancient old growth, and learn of the historical and modern uses of this very special temperate rainforest and its complex ecosystem. Soar by tramway to 1,800 feet above the city to take in one of the most expansive and beautiful views in Alaska, from the Chilkat Mountains to the north, down Stephens Passage over to Douglas Island, and into Silver Bow Basin where gold was discovered in 1880. Once at the top of Mount Roberts, you'll find that the Nature Center is the starting point of an extensive trail system including bear viewing platforms and a live bald eagle exhibit. The Mountain House has a theater, restaurant, bar, several select gift shops and Native artists working on fossilized ivory or silver carvings, making dolls, sewing garments, beading or creating large totem poles out of cedar logs. Notes: Tickets allow unlimited rides throughout the day and include viewing the award winning Tlingit film "Seeing Daylight." The Mount Roberts Tramway is an excellent choice to combine with any other tour for a full overview of Juneau and vicinity. There is no charge for children 5 years of age or under. Should you have a ticket and the child is 5 years of age or under, please go to the Shore Excursion Desk and return the ticket so you do not get charged. This can only be done on board the ship at the Shore Excursion Desk and not at the Mt. Roberts venue. less
