Enjoy a 75-minute, guided scenic drive to the quaint seaside town of St. Andrews-by-the-Sea, a beautiful town set along the shores of the Bay of Fundy. Upon arrival in St. Andrews, your motorcoach will have an hourly shuttle to and from St. Andrews' most popular sites, so you can customize your day to explore your way. Stops include the Fundy Discovery Aquarium where you'll come face to face with seals, skates, salmon and rare lobsters. At the impressive touch pool, you may have up-close-and-personal encounters with many of the bay’s intertidal marine creatures. Explore the four galleries and interactive displays. The Fundy Discovery Aquarium is a Bay of Fundy experience for the entire family! You’ll also stop at historic Downtown. Explore the quaint shops of beautiful and historic Water Street. Walk along the wharf, dine on your own at one of the many restaurants and browse specialty and art shops. Discover the Ross Memorial Museum, or take a peek into Sheriff Andrews House. View the many churches along King Street, or stroll through the Loyalist cemetery. Next you'll enjoy the award-winning Kingsbrae Garden, recently named "Top Five North American Gardens worth Travelling For" at the 2011 International Garden Tourism Conference. Kingsbrae Garden has superb collections of over 50,000 perennials, a sculpture garden, engaging animals, ponds, streams, activities for children and much more. You can also visit the Historic Algonquin Resort, which blends old world charm with modern luxury and is one of Canada’s premium historic seaside resorts. This unique Tudor-style “Castle-by-the-Sea” has welcomed iconic leaders, royalty and travelers since 1889. Note: Participants can walk as little or as much as they like. Discover Maine’s rich maritime history with a visit to the Maine Maritime Museum and Bath Iron Works. You'll also have some free time to explore the quaint village of Bath. During your approximate one hour drive to Bath, your guide will offer you insight and commentary about the area and passing scenery. At the museum you’ll meet your maritime guide and board a coach to the Bath Iron Works, a major American shipyard on the Kennebec River. Since its founding in 1884, they have built private, commercial and military vessels, most of which have been ordered by the United States Navy. A one hour scenic drive through the ironworks facilities brings the history and importance of the site to life.
Return to the Maine Maritime Museum located on a beautiful 20 acre campus to discover Maine’s 400 year old shipbuilding history, accompanied by your friendly and knowledgeable guide. Explore the Percy & Small Shipyard, the last shipyard of its kind in the country. Experience Victorian life in Donnell House, as museum volunteers demonstrate traditional boatbuilding skills and learn the history of lobster fishing in Maine at the Lobstering and Maine Coast exhibit. Following your guided portion of the museum visit, you’ll have some free time to explore further or shop at the museum store. A short ride will bring you to the center of Bath where you’ll have approximately 1 1/2 hours of time to discover this charming village or have a meal on your own. At the appointed time board your coach for the return to Portland and your ship.
Note: Walking in the city of Bath is at the guest’s discretion, most buildings are wheelchair accessible. A security check must be completed before the coach is permitted to enter Bath Iron Works; you’ll need to print and sign your name as well as supply your nationality on a sign-in sheet (no identification is required). This will be completed en route from Portland to Bath. There is absolutely no photography permitted inside the Bath Iron Works, still or motion. This tour may be cancelled at any time due to changes in national security concerns. The exploration of Bath Iron Works is panoramic from the motorcoach. Take a scenic drive through the vibrant city of Boston en route to magnificent Copley Square. Along the way you'll pass the spectacular Boston Common, the oldest park in the country and the start of the Freedom Trail. See the New State House with its magnificent gold dome, the Public Garden, famous for its century-old swan boats, and the Old South Meeting House where the most memorable gathering sparked the Boston Tea Party in 1773 and ignited the Revolutionary War. Drive along Newbury Street with its upscale boutiques, unique galleries and trendy cafes. Your first stop will be Copley Square which showcases stunning examples of medieval, classical, and modern design. The most prominent building is the Romanesque Trinity Church. Located on the south side is the magnificent Boston Public Library. Founded in 1848, it was the first free municipal library in the United States. Noted for its Italian Renaissance-style exterior, it is an important example of early 19th-century American architecture. Overlooking the square is the ultra-modern John Hancock Tower. Designed by world-renowned Chinese architect I.M. Pei, the building is the tallest in New England at 60 stories high and its modernist design transforms the skyline. Enjoy a picturesque drive through the town of Lynn and then the town of Salem where you'll begin with lunch in an elegant restaurant followed by a walk down Chestnut Street. Grand, old homes line this magnificent street, many of them built by sea Captains and merchants in the early 1800's during Salem's 'Great Age of Sail.' Enjoy a visit to the Salem Witch Museum which takes you back to the Salem of 1692. Using stage sets, life-size figures, lighting and narration you’ll learn about the Witch Trials of 1692. There will also be time to explore the "Witches: Evolving Perceptions" exhibit which examines the stereotypical witch, aspects of witchcraft in the 17th century, modern witchcraft and the phenomenon of witch hunts. Prior to departing, stop in the museum's gift shop for unusual mementos and souvenirs. Enjoy a picturesque drive on your return to port. Note: This tour will require walking and standing for approximately 40 minutes at the Witch Museum. Walking in Salem is at your discretion. There is a gift shop available in the Witch Museum and a variety of shops along Salem’s waterfront. Witch Museum is wheelchair accessible however some of the shops in town are not. less

Continue your journey to Borden, to see the world’s longest bridge that covers frozen water, and the chance to shop for lovingly handcrafted souvenirs. Next, skirt the North Shore to the quaint fishing village of North Rustico, where breathtaking coastal vistas await you. Take in the fresh salt air while the famous red sand caresses your toes and you snap a few keepsake photos on the beach. This leg stretch is followed by a casual lunch of local seafood. After lunch, drive to picturesque Cavendish to visit Green Gables, the farmstead which inspired the setting for L.M. Montgomery to create her beloved tale of a red-haired orphan, Anne of Green Gables. Experience some of the world’s highest tides as you explore a world-class attraction. Travel along the picturesque Fundy coastal drive to the Hopewell Rocks. Your local guide will delight you with both facts and folklore surrounding the Bay of Fundy coastal communities. Pass through Fundy National Park, where you can often spot various bird species and even an occasional moose. Then get ready to discover the Hopewell Rocks, the icon of New Brunswick. Experience these flowerpot rocks created by the clash of continents, carved by melting glaciers, then sculpted by the highest tides in the world. Interpretation will be delivered to explain how twice daily one hundred billion tons of water creates tides that can rise up to 50 feet. Then, enjoy your lunch at the High Tide Cafe. Relax as you enjoy the scenic New Brunswick countryside on the route back to your cruise ship. Note: Please note that due to the extreme nature of the Bay of Fundy tides, the stage of the tide cycle during your visit cannot be guaranteed. Perched high above the St. Lawrence River, your tour will include a stop at Dufferin Terrace and Chateau Frontenac, where you'll have an opportunity to independently visit the Chateau or take in the spectacular view of the St. Lawrence River, Ile d’Orleans and the Laurentian Mountains. Passing through the St. Louis Gate, explore the National Battlefields Park, site of the historic battle where the French surrendered to the British in 1759. A photo stop will be made at Cap Diamant before continuing to the heart of the Lower Town and the beautifully restored market square, Place Royale. Along the narrow cobblestone streets of Petit Champlain, discover quaint boutiques, specialty shops and outdoor cafes. Within minutes of the Old Walled City of Quebec are the beautiful pastoral landscapes of the Island of Orleans and Montmorency Falls. Cascading down a 272-foot (83 meter) cliff, Montmorency Falls is one-and-a-half times as high as Niagara Falls. Take a step back in time as you cross the bridge to the Ile d'Orleans, where you'll enjoy a scenic drive passing the tip of the island and the lovely 19th-century resort homes of Quebec's rich merchant class with spectacular views of the skyline of Quebec. Located along the infamous Beaupre Coast, your journey takes you along the Chemin de Roy (King's Road) to the world-renowned shrine of St. Anne de Beaupre. With over one-and-a-half million visitors and pilgrims making their way to the shrine each year, St. Anne has become one of the most important Catholic sites in North America. Explore the mountains, fjords and coastal wonders of Gros Morne National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This tour features beautiful scenery on the north side of the park and includes a total of four hours of travel by coach. The local lunch features distinctive Newfoundland flavors. You’ll stop at Gros Morne Park’s visitor center to learn about the geological significance of this park, hailed as the “Galapagos of Geology”. The Lobster Cove Lighthouse stop will introduce you to the first people of North America and the history of the local communities including some famous local shipwrecks.
Newfoundland's geological history comes alive at Western Brook Pond, looking at the distant, raised, inland fjord that was carved by the sea and slipped away from the ocean's edge a mere 15,000 years ago. There’s lots of opportunity to enjoy the scenery including Gros Morne Mountain and to learn about the history and geology of our planet together with the fishing culture of Newfoundland and Labrador.
