The Fortress of Louisbourg was one of the busiest harbors in North America and one of France's key centers of trade and military strength in the New World. Today, the site is an exciting and entertaining lesson in history. Plan to see selected buildings and exhibits. Experience the life of a military officer as you visit the home of Captain and Madame DeGannes. Discuss household duties with the servant in the Engineer’s Residence. Discover some tricks of open-hearth cooking and then wander up to the spectacular chapel in the King’s Bastion. Talk to a soldier. You'll find them happy to tell you about guard duty, living conditions, security, food and a soldier's life in general. Note: Considerable walking is involved. Wear sturdy walking shoes and dress warmly, bring a jacket or windbreaker. This tour is not recommended for persons with special mobility needs or wheelchairs. less

Enjoy the highlights of Boston as this panoramic tour takes you past the city’s most important and scenic sites. See Copley Square, one of the city’s most attractive spots bordered by the architectural wonders of Trinity Church and the Boston Public Library. Continuing through the upscale residential area of Back Bay and along Newbury Street, you’ll pass exclusive boutiques, trendy cafes and the Public Garden. In the heart of the city and overlooking the green oasis of Boston Common, lies one of the most elegant and wealthiest neighborhoods of the city, Beacon Hill. Passing the gold dome of the Massachusetts State House, you'll see the Old South Meeting House where the Boston Tea Party began. Looking across the Charles River as the patriots did in April of 1775, catch a glimpse of the steeple of Old North Church where Paul Revere ordered two lanterns hung in the steeple to signal that the British Recoats were on the move. Note: This tour ends at the Boston Logan Airport and is only available for Norwegian Dawn guests with domestic flights after 2:00 pm, international flights after 3:00 pm, or who have an extended stay in Boston. Guests are responsible for ensuring their debarkation tours are compatible with their flight departure times. The seaside city of Salem is well known for its infamous Witch Hunts three centuries ago and its special nautical heritage dating back to the China Trade. On this tour you’ll visit the Salem Witch Museum and experience Salem’s historic waterfront. A visit to the Salem Witch Museum brings you back to the Salem of 1692. Using stage sets, life-size figures, lighting and narration, you’ll learn about the Witch Trials of 1692. You’ll also have time to explore the ‘Witches: Evolving Perceptions’ exhibit which examines the stereotypical witch aspect of witchcraft in the 17th century, modern witchcraft and the phenomenon of witch hunts. In addition, you’ll visit the Witch Memorial and the Point Burying Ground where one of the 'witch' judges is buried (an ancestor of Nathaniel Hawthorne). Then take in Salem’s picturesque Derby Wharf, dating back to the fabled China Trade period after the Revolution, when Salem’s Yankee Clipper ships sailed around the globe to Canton and the South Seas and Salem was the wealthiest city in the United States. You’ll have time to independently explore the historic buildings along the waterfront, snap a photo of 'Friendship,' a replica clipper ship and one of the fastest sailing vessels ever built, or simply relax and browse the unique shops on the wharf. Before your return drive to Boston, enjoy a drive down Chestnut Street, considered by many to be the most beautiful residential streets in America. Note: This tour will require walking and standing for approximately 40 minutes at the Witch Museum. Walking in Salem is at your discretion. There is a gift shop available in the Witch Museum and a variety of shops along Salem’s waterfront. Witch Museum is wheelchair accessible however some of the shops in town are not. For those on the adventurous side, come explore the beauty of the Fjord by Zodiac! From the pier in La Baie, you’ll enjoy a 60-minute scenic drive to Parc National du Saguenay Interpretation Center where you’ll be given a safety briefing before boarding your Zodiac for a 1 1/4 hour journey. The dark waters bounded by high rocky capes that dive just as deeply, impart an air of mystery to the Saguenay Fjord. One cannot refrain from wondering what can indeed be hidden in these black waters. Although it seems very quiet at the surface, the Fjord beneath is bustling with aquatic life. It is a haven for numerous species of fish and marine invertebrates. Learn about the geological, biological and morphological development of the Fjord as you glide by the impressive landscapes and towering cliffs of this natural wonder. Following your Zodiac tour you’ll have some free time at the Interpretation Center to enjoy the excellent exhibits of the Fjord or shop in the trendy gift shop. Note: There is approximately 500 yards (457 meters) of walking from the parking lot to the dock where the excursion begins. less

Explore the narrow cobbled lanes and charming alleyways of the lower city on a walking tour. Then ride the funicular to the upper city for a stately tour in a horse and carriage. Place Royale, the beautifully restored square in the heart of the Lower Town features superb examples of the 17th and 18th century stone architecture that characterizes the city. The site of the Sieur de Champlain's first settlement, the square is home to Notre Dame des Victoires, the oldest stone church still standing in North America. Petit Champlain Street, the pedestrian-only street adjacent to the Place Royale, features boutiques, shops, cafes and restaurants housed in 17th and 18th century buildings. Strolling musicians, jugglers and other street performers abound. Board the funicular for the short ride to the historic, walled Upper Town, home to Dufferin Terrace and Chateau Frontenac. Dufferin Terrace, Quebec's grand promenade, affords panoramic views of the St. Lawrence River, the town of Levis on the opposite bank, the Ile d'Orleans, and the Laurentian Mountains. Chateau Frontenac, Quebec's most recognizable landmark, is a palatial hotel, a green-turreted castle built in 1893 by the Canadian Pacific Railway. Franklin Roosevelt, Winston Churchill and MacKenzie King met here to discuss strategy during World War II. Board your elegant carriage by the Chateau Frontenac and ride through the historic streets of the Upper Town for a 40 minute ride.
