Travel off-road on ATV 'quads' en route to discover the interior of the Samana Peninsula. At the tender pier, you’ll board your transportation and be transferred to Ranch Gina where you’ll receive a safety briefing and instructions on the operation of your ATV. Then, you're off, caravan style to discover the back-roads and areas of interest while your tour guide provides narration. Your first visit will be to a typical Dominican rural house and learn about the culture and way of life of the Dominican people. Continue to La Cascada Lulu for a photo stop. Your final stop will be a visit to El Valle Beach, a white-sand beach fringed with palm trees. Note: Participants must be at least 18 years of age, weigh no more than 250 lbs, in good health and provide a valid driver's license. All participants are required to sign a waiver. This tour is not recommended for pregnant women and people with neck or back injuries. Wear your swimsuit and bring a towel. There is no swimming at Playa El Valle. less

You’ll journey to the ancient place of Mayan pilgrimage known today as Chacchoben also known as The Place of Red Corn. At the pier, you’ll be greeted by a bilingual guide who will direct you to an air-conditioned bus. Onboard the bus your guide will brief you on the interesting history and unique culture of the tour ahead. Upon arrival at Chacchoben you’ll be surrounded by jungle. Your guide will escort you through the ruins, giving you complete explanations of the sacred temples and other structures seen there. See original red paint on the stucco walls of one of the pyramids and the temple where a mural was found showing the astronomical positions of the planet Venus. You’ll have time to climb the Gran Basamento taking you above tree level. Here archaeologists found ceremonial offerings dating to around 1000 B.C. Your guide will also explain about the wildlife and medicinal plants that are used by the modern-day descendants of the ancient Mayan people. Note: Tour includes complimentary beverages. There is a government tax of $5-8 US for the use of video cameras at the site. No tripods and/or professional video cameras are allowed. We recommend that you bring insect repellent. less

Experience Mexico’s past and present as you explore the ancient Mayan archaeological site of Izapa. Examine artifacts in the Regional Museum and then wander Tapachula’s town square on a sightseeing adventure that will both educate and delight you. Take an approximate 45 minute ride to the ancient ruins of Izapa. From it’s beginnings as a small village around 1500 B.C, Izapa grew into the region’s most influential cultural and commercial center. From here, you’ll travel by bus to the culturally diverse city of Tapachula whose history and heritage has been influenced not only by the Mayans, Mestizo and Spanish but by German, Chinese, Japanese and French immigrants as well. Visit the Archaeological Museum where you’ll be able to inspect Mayan artifacts found in the region. Then, your tour guide will introduce you to some the city’s highlights on a short walking tour around the town square. You’ll have free time for shopping in local artisan shops for leather goods, ceramics and more. You can also explore cafes and colorful streets before returning by bus to your ship. Your scenic drive will include a stop to enjoy breathtaking views of the Bay of Tangolunda - the luxury resort area. Pass the Bay of Conejos all the way up to the river estuary before proceeding to La Crucecita (downtown Huatulco), the evergreen Central Park (Zocalo), and the beautiful church dedicated to the Virgin of Guadalupe, host of the world’s largest painting of the Virgin on its ceiling. If you like to shop, you’ll find several stores offering a wide variety of handicrafts including black pottery from the valleys of Oaxaca, handmade woven rugs and carpets milled on traditional looms, and the world-famous 'alebrijes' allegories of fantastic animals. Typical products, like Mezcal (the original Oaxacan version of the well-known Tequila), chocolate rivaling with the best Swiss-made ones, coffee, regional cheese, clothes, wines, and liquors are available. To finalize your tour, take in the stunning views of the Bay of Santa Cruz, La Entrega Beach, and your ship. Your next stop will be Doka Estate, located at an altitude of 4,500 feet above sea level. This beautiful estate and coffee plantation was declared a historical and architectural heritage site by the Costa Rican Government. Your guide will relay the magic of coffee from seed to cup. Get to know unspoiled Dominica on this exciting journey as you discover not one, but two impressive waterfalls and the famous Sulphur Springs. Board your air-conditioned transportation at the pier and head north along the west coast before turning east on the Imperial Road passing fern-covered hillsides. Enjoy the clear view of citrus crops, banana plantations, and beautiful flowers along the winding road up to Pond Case and into the Morne Trois Piton National Park. Disembark your bus for a 20-minute hike along a relatively flat but uneven trail to visit the beautiful 80-foot Twin Falls. You’ll spend approximately thirty minutes at the Twin Falls enjoying the breathtaking scenery. Take an optional refreshing dip in the cool mountain water. Re-board your transportation and drive back along the Layou Valley road toward Roseau. Drive through Independence Street to Chez Ophelia, a homey bed and breakfast nestled on the tranquil mountainside, for a refreshing drink and restroom break. Then proceed to the village of Wotton Waven to visit the Sulphur springs. When active, these springs come alive in a spectacular bubbling motion, spewing volcanic hot water in the air. See the water bubbling and boiling out of the ground. After approximately 20 minutes at the hot springs, proceed to Trafalgar Falls. Upon arrival at the base, take a 5 minute walk up the tarish-colored trail until you arrive at the viewing platform above the river. Enjoy the beauty of the falls cascading into a deep pool surrounded by lush green ferns. Before returning to your ship, you will travel through the Botanical Gardens and unto Morne Bruce for a photo stop above the entire town of Roseau. Note: Participants must be at least 10 years of age and in good physical condtion. We recommend you wear comfortable walking shoes. Wear your swimsuit and bring a towel. Trails to the Spanny Falls may be slippery when wet and are uneven at some points. Access to the second higher falls at the Spanny Twin Falls is via a 45 degree incline and can only be accessed by the most active and physically fit. Bring along a bottle of drinking water. Tour may be done in reverse. less
