Caribbean Cruises: Excursions

Your day of discovery begins when you board you air conditioned transportation. You’ll pass by buildings and homes featuring Colonial, Republican and Moorish styles and your guide explains the many influences that came to be in Cartagena. Your first stop will be 'Punta Icacos', near the fishing village of La Boquilla. Here, you’ll be greeted by local fishermen who earn a living by traditional means of fishing. These fishermen will explain the process of making, repairing and casting the nets, as well as provide a demonstration. You’ll even have the opportunity to learn the art of throwing the net if you wish or you can also sip on fresh coconut milk or coconut water while you watch your companions cast the net. On your way back to Cartagena your guide will provide you with more information regarding Columbian history including the "Vallenato". The Vallenato is a traditional type of music typically using an accordion, flute and drum. Next, stop at Rancho Grande where you’ll be greeted and entertained by your own band of Vallenato. Sample a traditional Columbian snack or "frito" if you whish before making your way to the Emerald Museum. Here, you’ll see craftsmen at work as well as learn the history and cultural importance of the precious stone. Then, visit the famous walled or Old City and Portal de Dulce, an area where local vendors sell the handmade Columbian candies, famous around the world. Take a sweet sample before continuing your walk through the Plaza de la Aduana and Simon Bolivar Square. Along the way your guide will point out areas of interest as well as information on the many churches, building and monuments before you begin your free time in the colonial city. Feel free to stroll along the beautiful streets, browse the many shops and admire the beautiful architecture and flower covered balconies before returning to your ship. Note: Bring comfortable shoes and casual clothes. Wear sunscreen. Participants must be able to stand and walk unassisted as well as easily navigate narrow pathways. Huatulco is known for its picturesque bays and sun-drenched Oaxacan coastline. Embark in a comfortable motorized catamaran-style vessel for a relaxing cruise from the harbor to Tangolunda Bay. View the area's natural beauty and surrounding resorts before passing by unusual rock formations at Organo Bay. Here, a stop will be made for swimming, relaxing time and some refreshments. Your cruise will continue to the tranquil Maguey and Chahue Bay's; then, proceed to Santa Cruz Bay, with its beautiful beaches and see the impressive blowhole located nearby. Your guide will provide informative commentary throughout your bay cruise. Note: Participants must be in good health. Swimming is recommended for guests of 250 Lbs. or less. Wear comfortable walking shoes and light cotton clothing. Bring sunscreen, hat, sunglasses and a camera. Enjoy some swashbuckling fun, snorkeling, beach time and water sport. Join your friendly Captain and 'his pirates' aboard the pirate ship 'Marigalante' for a relaxing, fun day of adventure. Following a delicious Mexican buffet-style breakfast and entertainment onboard, you’ll stop at Majahuitas beach. Here, you can take a banana boat ride, kayak, snorkel, ride boogie boards, play volleyball or just relax and soak up the sun. Kids will enjoy the treasure hunt along with the buried pirate treasure chest. Board the pirate vessel for a delicious lunch and a fabulous pirate show with exhibitions of swordsmanship and acrobatics, all in a festive atmosphere. This tour offers the ideal combination of sailing and snorkeling. After a short stroll, you’ll board your catamaran, which features a shaded lounge and spacious deck, for a cruise through historic Nassau Harbor en route to one of two spectacular reefs. Here, you’ll see natural coral reefs teaming with the ocean’s wildlife on a snorkel adventure. During your sail, you’ll receive your snorkel gear and instructions from the knowledgeable crew, who will accompany you into the water to ensure your safety and enjoyment. Unlimited rum punch is offered after snorkeling, and a full premium cash bar is available at an additional cost. Note: Participants must be at least 7 years of age to snorkel and in good physical condition. Parental discretion is needed for children under 7 to participate. Snorkeling takes place at a reef with a depth of approximately 5 to 15 feet. Swimming is not a requirement but it’s recommended. Participants are required to wear life vests at all times. We recommend that you bring sunscreen and a towel. An approximately 10 to 15-minute walk is required to board transportation for all Nassau tours. Guests must sign a waiver release form. less
