Whether you’re snorkeling for the very first time or you consider yourself an expert, you’ll want to experience our adventurous snorkel trail "The Fate of the Fancy" on Great Stirrup Cay. Located in the clear blue waters of Bertram’s Cove, you’ll snorkel your way around the wreckage of the treasure ship 'The Fancy', which sailed towards the Berry Islands in April of 1696 when it disappeared into the darkness of the night. Legend has it that from the depths of the sea appeared the sea creature Lusca, which grasped and destroyed the ship. The trail includes 17 mini reefs comprised of shipwreck artifacts that include cannons, treasure chests, swords and even a sunken piano. Note: Participants must be able to swim. This tour is the length of the ship’s duration in Great Stirrup Cay. less

A delightful short visit at the cozy museum featuring important aspects of Dominica's heritage is optional. Board your bus and depart the pier. Capture a face view of the historic 16th century Old Market Plaza about one-half block from the cruise pier. You turn south unto Church Street. View two of the largest and oldest 18th.century churches on the Island. You will drive up to Morne Bruce. Morne Bruce is an ideal vantage point from which to get a panoramic view of the entire town of Roseau and the Botanical Gardens. A five minute drive from Morne Bruce will take you to the Botanical Gardens, an attractive 40 acre expansion adorned with exotic plants from every part of the tropical world. Experience a short and interesting tour in a relaxing atmosphere at the Botanical Gardens before you drive up to the community of St. Aroment. Beautiful flora and interesting French architectural designs accentuate the outlook of the prestigious community. Enjoy the inside view as you drive through St. Aroment. Leaving St. Aroment along the main coastal road you will pass along Woodbridge Bay unto Fond Cole before entering Canefield, home of one of our two airports. Canefield is also the main industrial site on the island. The tour continues with a drive through Canefield East from which you will get a panoramic view of the entire Canefield industrial site and airport, before it climaxes at the Old Mill Cultural Center for drinks and convenience. The Old Mill Cultural Center is one of Dominica's historic landmarks and was the island's first sugarcane processing mill and rum distillery. Today, it's a place to learn about Dominica's traditions. You will board your air conditioned motor coach and begin your drive through the heart of the city as you head out of St. John’s. Drive through colorful tranquil villages with charming churches and rolling hills, passing tropical plants and trees along the way. Continuing on to the North Sound region, you will pass the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium and drive through the villages of All Saints, Liberta and Falmouth. Make a quick stop for refreshments before continuing through the lush green foliage of Fig Tree Drive, the island’s most picturesque drive and home of Antigua’s tropical forest. Fig is the Antiguan word for banana and you will drive through groves of wild mango, guava, orange, coconut and of course, bananas at every turn. Along this scenic southwest coast to Old Road, Fig Tree Drive climbs up and down hillsides affording breathtaking views. Huatulco is known for its picturesque bays and sun-drenched Oaxacan coastline. Embark in a comfortable motorized catamaran-style vessel for a relaxing cruise from the harbor to Tangolunda Bay. View the area's natural beauty and surrounding resorts before passing by unusual rock formations at Organo Bay. Here, a stop will be made for swimming, relaxing time and some refreshments. Your cruise will continue to the tranquil Maguey and Chahue Bay's; then, proceed to Santa Cruz Bay, with its beautiful beaches and see the impressive blowhole located nearby. Your guide will provide informative commentary throughout your bay cruise. Note: Participants must be in good health. Swimming is recommended for guests of 250 Lbs. or less. See the best of Cartagena with a tour of the city accompanied by local guide experts. Your first stop will be a view of the imposing military fort of San Felipe de Barajas situated outside the walled city and considered to be the most outstanding feat of Spanish military engineering in the New World. You'll then continue to the historic Colonial city characterized by its walls which took 194 years to be completed. These immense walls enabled Cartagena to defend itself from the numerous attacks of English pirates and other invaders. You’ll be able to walk through Spanish Colonial architecture, some of the best preserved in South America with its imposing merchant’s houses, narrow streets, flower bedecked balconies, civic buildings and beautiful churches. The city is dotted with many squares and public spaces which are now home to sidewalk cafes and restaurants where locals and visitors relax and enjoy the magic of this city. Your next stop will be Bocagrande, which in contrast with the old city is modern with high rise apartment complexes, hotels and restaurants, a great place for visitors. You’ll then have a brief stop for shopping at the Pierino Gallo shopping center famous for its wide variety of jewelry shops. Note: There is a 30 minute continuous walk-in old town. As soon as you depart the harbor you’ll start to enjoy the charm and scenery of this dual personality island which has been flying the flags of both Holland and France since 1648. You’ll drive from Phillipsburg, the Dutch capital, past the Great Salt Pond and through the countryside. The tour then continues past the Border Monument indicating arrival at the French side, into the district of Orleans. Sightseeing continues through several quaint towns and fishing villages, including Grand Case known for its lovely beaches and exquisite restaurants, then across the north side of the island for a short stop at Marigot, the French capital, where you’ll observe a truly European atmosphere as you browse its waterside open-air markets, quaint shops, boutiques and sidewalk cafes. After your brief sojourn in Marigot you’ll return to the Dutch side and a truly spectacular view of Simpson Bay as you drive over Cole Bay Hill. Note: Participants must be able to manage three steps into and out of the bus. Wheelchair access may be limited - for details, please consult your Shore Excursion staff before booking. This is an exceptional accomplishment of Spanish military engineering where construction began in 1656 and lasted for 121 years. At the Rafael Nuñez House, a horse carriage ride will take you through the narrow streets of the walled city where you’ll find Colonial houses and squares such as La Merced, Santo Domingo, Custom Square, San Pedro Claver, and the beautiful Baroque door of the Inquisition Palace at Bolivar Square. Visit the dungeons within the walled city ramparts which were built to store provisions for the troops and are now home to a high quality handicrafts market. One of the highlights of Huatulco is definitely its wonderful shoreline, composed of several small bays with more than 36 beaches, scattered between rough cliffs and mountains. Take a closer look from the ocean to the natural features of this paradisiacal area and hear the ocean’s voice roaring at La Bufadora (the blowhole) or be surprised with the massive natural Indian face engraved through time by the sculpting action of the waves and the wind - the Stone Face. Visit the resort area at Tangolunda Bay, where buildings are mixed with the mountains as the background. Change your heading toward the west and check the secluded bays of Organo and Maguey. Continue your journey up to Cacaluta Bay and its island, named Playa del Rey in honor of the King Juan Carlos I of Spain, who fell in love with this bay during his visit to Huatulco. You'll enjoy a couple of hours of fun and pleasure aboard your catamaran and have seen six of the nine most beautiful bays in the world - Huatulco, the Nine Bays of Oaxaca. Note: You will not have the opportunity to swim, since this is only a sightseeing tour. There is no walking involved. Water, soft drinks and fresh fruits of the season are served on board.
