Your tour will begin with a drive along the German pier 'Bryggen', with its old wooden warehouses from the Hanseatic period and through the city and suburbs, leading to Troldhaugen, the composer, Edvard Grieg’s home for 22 years. Troldhaugen is beautifully situated by the peaceful Nordasvannet Lake. Grieg composed many of his most famous works at Troldhaugen, and he is also buried here with his wife Nina. Your next stop is at the Fantoft Stave Church. The old stave church, originally built in 1150, was rebuilt in 1992, just as it was before. On your way back, your coach will stop near the Fish and Flower Market in the center of the city for guests wanting to remain in town. Note: There is a 10-15 minute walk from the parking lot to the Edvard Grieg museum on gravel road. The footpaths in the garden are hilly. This tour may operate in reverse order. less

Come visit Helsingborg, a close and small city surrounded by parklands and museums. Its Civic Theatre, Concert Hall and old style buildings make it a scenic coastal city. Start with a motorcoach transfer towards the town center. A striking landmark, 'The Keep' are the remains of a 14th century castle which offers an extensive panorama of Helsingborg and across the sound, to Denmark. From the main square (Stortorget) and its prominent neo-Gothic Town Hall, pass the half-timbered Jacob Hansen’s House (1641), and take the coastal route to Sofiero. Formerly the summer residence of the late King, this stately Manor House is known for its parklands and rhododendrons. Here, you’ll enjoy a guided walk through its beautiful gardens. Returning to the city center, pass through the nature reserve of Palsjo Forest. Finally, continue to the village of Raa - once an important fishing community but now also a colorful marina. Note: At Sofiero, you’ll have a guided walk through the gardens and some free time to visit the Manor House on your own. On September 30th, 2013, the Manor house will be closed. less

You’ll pass the Royal Palace and the dramatic royal theater as you drive to the island of Djurgarden, a favorite getaway spot for Stockholm residents and home of the Vasa Museum. The Shetlands, located 112 miles from the most northerly point to the southern tip, is the cross-roads of the northern seas, and unlike anywhere else in Scotland. They roll out in a long vista of moor and wiry pasture, penetrated by great sea inlets. Spectacular vertical stacks coated with seabird colonies, cliffs and coves curtained with wild-flowers; hidden white beaches on an endless coast, small crofts and settlements sheltering by the sea-edge. As you come ashore, you’ll notice the main town of Lerwick, with its narrow Main Street and small shops. Climbing out of Lerwick, the road travels south and you’ll soon be seeing the vistas of hillsides. Turn off the main road to travel through small agricultural areas where sheep farming is important. You’ll see the distinctive black and brown Shetland sheep grazing in pastures enclosed by neat dry-stone walls, the product of local quarries. You’ll also travel across heather-lad hills to Burra Isle and to Scalloway, the former capital of the Shetlands. See Scalloway Castle, a forbidding ruin dominating the town, built by Earl Patrick Stewart in 1600 using forced local labor. Stewart was the notorious despot who tyrannized Orkney and the Shetlands, where he extorted crushing taxes and fines from the people of the Shetlands. His cruelty eventually led to his downfall and, in 1615, he and his son were executed in Edinburgh. Built in Medieval style, the roofless shell, with corner turrets and gables, stands on a narrow promontory by the water. Today, it stands side by side with the commerce of a busy fishing port, a silent sentinel. Your tour route then heads towards the fertile Tingwall Valley. The road passes a collection of farm buildings, and then suddenly there are belts of trees, rising abruptly amongst the barren hills. From the comparatively tranquil landscapes of the Tingwall Valley, you’ll head towards Weisdale Voe where the landscape changes dramatically. Here you'll pay a visit to the small workshops of Shetland jewelers which manufacture a range of silver and gold jewelry featuring Celtic, Viking and local wildlife designs. The showroom also stocks a selection of local crafts. The excursion itinerary then takes to the eastern side of mainland Shetland and returns towards Lerwick. less

Alesund, the largest town on the Northwest coast, has a beautiful setting, built on several islands stretching out into the ocean. You will drive to the Atlantic Ocean Park, a unique aquarium in Norway. Here, the tanks are built to resemble the coastal environments and its largest tank contains 4 million liters of seawater. You can even view the marine life through an acryl panel that is 26,5 cm thick, 18 m long and 4 m high. The Atlantic Ocean Park also features an out-door pool with penguins; here, you can look straight out towards "Breisundet" - the wide sound surrounded by islands and far out the open ocean. You’ll see seals coming regularly to be fed! On the way back we have the opportunity to study some of the fine details of the "art nouveau" architecture before we head up to Mount Aksla. Here we make a stop to take in the spectacular view towards the ocean and the many islands spread out. After a short drive through the streets of Ålesund we are back at the pier.
