Your tour begins with a scenic drive through the cultural heart of Tallinn. View the Tall Herman Tower, one of the three remaining towers of the Knights of the Sword Castle. From the base of the nearby Cannon Tower, enjoy a wonderful view of the churches and towers of Tallinn's Upper Town. You’ll then continue through Kadriorg Park, a true highlight with its charming Baroque ensemble that was designed as a summer residence for Peter the Great. You’ll also see the beautiful Swan Pond where a photo stop will be made. You’ll visit the Song Festival Ground, a natural amphitheater that hosts Estonia's national song festivals. You’ll pass by the Forest Cemetery where distinguished Estonians are buried amongst the pine trees, before continuing on to Pirita, the beachside location of the yachting complex built for the 1980 Olympic Games. From this vantage point, the 16th century ruins of St. Bridget's Convent can be seen. As you return to the harbor, you'll drive past the summer residence of Count Orlov and the delightful statue of Russalka, Estonia's mermaid, on the sea coast. Meet your guide and begin with a short drive up to Fjallgatan for a panoramic overview of the city. Continue to Gamla Stan, the enchanting, medieval Old Town. You’ll pass the Royal Palace and the dramatic royal theater as you drive to the island of Djurgarden, a favorite getaway spot for Stockholm residents and home of the Vasa Museum. In the Vasa Museum, you’ll see the Swedish warship ‘Vasa’, once considered the pride of Sweden’s navy. The present museum is built around the restored 17th century warship, which sank in Stockholm’s inner harbor on her maiden voyage in 1628. It was salvaged in 1961 with more than 12,000 objects on board and is one of the most important events in marine archaeology. Continue on your tour to Ostermalm, a fashionable neighborhood of stately apartment buildings, then on to Sergel’s Torg, a square that is the focal point of modern Stockholm. Proceed south past the Parliament Building and the House of Nobility before returning to the pier. less

Visit Stockholm’s oldest and coziest quarters, the Old Town of Gamla Stan. Witness the historic elegance of the exterior of the dominating Royal Palace, and stroll along the narrow, twisting alleys and cobblestone streets. You’ll experience the medieval intimacy of what is today a living historical monument of international renown. You’ll also see Stortorget and the Great Square – the hub of the Old Town, dominated by the old Stock Exchange, today housing the Nobel Museum and the Swedish Academy, which meets each year to decide the laureate of the Nobel Prize for Literature. Rejoin your coach and continue through the city center and on to the Nordic Hotel in the heart of the city, where the world’s first permanent ice bar is located. The interior is kept at -5° Centigrade all year round. The whole interior, including glasses, is made of pure, clear ice from the Torne River in Northern Sweden. A complimentary drink in an ice glass will be served and the staff will tell you more about the bar and its construction. Note: You’ll spend approximately 25 minutes in the ice bar. Depending on the licensing laws, non-alcoholic drinks will be served if the bar is unable to offer vodka, which might depend on the time of the day (no alocohol allowed before 11:00 am). Tour sequence may vary in order to avoid congestion at the venues. less

Alesund, the largest town on the Northwest coast, has a beautiful setting, built on several islands stretching out into the ocean. You will drive to the Atlantic Ocean Park, a unique aquarium in Norway. Here, the tanks are built to resemble the coastal environments and its largest tank contains 4 million liters of seawater. You can even view the marine life through an acryl panel that is 26,5 cm thick, 18 m long and 4 m high. The Atlantic Ocean Park also features an out-door pool with penguins; here, you can look straight out towards "Breisundet" - the wide sound surrounded by islands and far out the open ocean. You’ll see seals coming regularly to be fed! On the way back we have the opportunity to study some of the fine details of the "art nouveau" architecture before we head up to Mount Aksla. Here we make a stop to take in the spectacular view towards the ocean and the many islands spread out. After a short drive through the streets of Ålesund we are back at the pier. Note: Tour may operate in reverse order. less

Along the way you’ll pass Embassy Park and the Uspenski Orthodox Cathedral with its brilliant gold onion domes. Continue on to Senate Square and see important buildings attributed to the Neo-Classic architect Carl Ludwig Engel, including the famous Lutheran Cathedral. You’ll pass the open-air market on your way to the Olympic Stadium where the 1952 Olympic Games were held. Then it’s on to Sibelius Park where you can photograph a monument honoring the great Finnish composer Jean Sibelius. Pass by the Opera House and then stop to see the Temppeliaukio Rock Church, a unique house of worship blasted into solid rock and topped by a copper dome. Finally it’s on to Mannerheim Street, Helsinki’s main thoroughfare, and other important landmarks. At the end of the tour, you can get off in the downtown area to explore the city on your own or return by your bus to the cruise pier. Should you decide to remain in the city, you’ll be responsible for your own return to the cruise pier. This option is only available for morning departures. Note: Order of sights might vary. Guides are not allowed to escort large groups through churches while a service is in progress. In this instance the guide will describe the church from the outside. We cannot guarantee entry if services are being held. Due to new traffic restrictions, buses will no longer be allowed to drive nearby the rock church; therefore, there will be a 20 minute walk to and from the church (approximately 1,600 feet). less

This evening you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy a special performance of a well-known ballet (Giselle or Swan Lake), in one of the city’s theater venues. Dance is a huge part of the Russian’s nature. Dancing comes as natural to Russians, as singing comes natural to Italians. St. Petersburg has long been regarded as one of the world’s most famous ballet centers. For two centuries Russia has maintained its superiority in ballet, an art that was brought from Europe at the beginning of the 18th century. There was a period of adapting to this strange manner of dancing, which was initially shared with only a small segment of the population. After a long time of creating Russian ballet schools and theaters, with the help of Italian and French choreographers, coaches, artists, composers, dancers and ballerinas, the triumph of the Russian ballet was born at the beginning of the 20th century. After the show, your coach will be waiting to return you to your ship. *Price reflected on NCL.com is inclusive of the Pre-Book and Save offer. Note: Theater is not wheelchair accessible; there are stairs and no elevator. Photo and video recording is not allowed during the performance. Seating assignments are selected at random and are not based upon your time of booking. less
