Enjoy a drive to the southern part of Lanzarote, passing the picturesque villages of Macher and Uga and crossing black lava streams before arriving to the southwest coast of the island. There you’ll make a photo stop by Los Hervideros where the sea water seems to boil in a volcanic cave. On your way to the Timanfaya National Park, you’ll stop for a short camel ride. The park is a natural museum of unique beauty. Bizarre craters, streams of lava and fields of ashes formed by eruptions during the 18th century are mixed here in a nearly unrealistic lunar landscape. Upon arrival to Islote de Hilario, a crater with the highest surface temperatures in the region, you’ll experience still-existing activity not far underground as you gather around for the fun demonstrations. The geothermal energy is so strong that water gushes up and dry weed catches fire within seconds. Board a coach to embark on a tour of the Fire Mountains called the "Lunar Route”, which goes deep inside the heart of the national park and lasts approximately 45 minutes. Through a recorded narration, you’ll learn about the history of the volcanic eruptions and see how slowly life conquers the inhospitable landscape with very few endemic plants. From here you’ll drive to the wine-growing area of La Geria where the locals have modified grape growing through the centuries in order to preserve the vines from the harsh natural elements and provide a special cultivation for the grapes that produce the famous Malvasia wine. These vines are grown inside dimple-like craters and surrounded by volcanic stone semi-circles (called Zocos), built for each individual vine to provide much needed protection from the fierce winds. Visit one of the local wine cellars for a taste of the local wine before the return drive to your ship. Note: Because Fire Mountains is the most visited attraction, to avoid delays at the entrance, tour order may vary but all mentioned sites will be covered. No professional camera or video equipment is allowed at Timanfaya National Park, including the camel area. Comfortable shoes and a light jacket are recommended. less

Begin your tour by sightseeing boat and pass by Suomenlinna, a series of small interconnected islands near Helsinki that are popular with area residents because of their museums, parks and gardens. In 1748, a fortress was built on the islands and was dubbed the ‘Gibraltar of the North’. As your guide describes Helsinki's unique relationship to the sea, continue past waterfront houses and old villas in this unique urban archipelago. Also pass by several other points of interest, including the icebreaker fleet docked for the summer season, and Helsinki Zoo. The zoo is one of the most northernmost zoos in the world. Disembark the boat and enjoy a short visit to Kauppatori (Market Square), where you can shop for local handicrafts, perhaps sample luscious Finnish berries or just enjoy the friendly atmosphere. In warm weather, the square is a popular spot with both locals and tourists. Rejoin your sightseeing coach for a leisurely panoramic tour of some of the main highlights the city has to offer. Pass the Presidential Palace and Uspenski Cathedral, make a photo stop in Senate Square, and then continue on to Mannerheim Street with the Parliament House, National Museum and Finlandia Hall. The Olympic Stadium and new Opera House will also be seen before arriving at Sibelius Park for a final photo opportunity of the monument of over 600 steel pipes which honor the great Finnish composer Jean Sibelius. Note: Order of sights may vary. The panoramic tour section does not include any visits to venues. If the Market Square is closed, an alternative shopping venue will be used. Visit two sites of great religious significance and pilgrimage, the house where the Virgin Mary purportedly spent the last days of her life, and the remains of the Basilica of St. John, built on the site where the apostle is believed to have been buried. It is said that John wrote his gospel while living in Ephesus. During the 4th century, a church was built on the site of his grave, but during the 6th century, the Emperor Justinian replaced it with a church of magnificent proportions, with the central dome right above the tomb. Thousands of faithful pilgrims visited the sacred site throughout the middle ages. It is also said that the apostle John brought the Virgin Mary to Ephesus after leaving Jerusalem. She first lived in a house in the city of Ephesus, until the house on Bulbul Mountain was built. This place of pilgrimage is visited by hundreds of tourists and pilgrims every day and it remains a holy place for Christians and Muslims alike. You’ll stop at a leather outlet for refreshments and a shopping opportunity before returning to your ship in Izmir. Note: Expect crowded venues and extreme heat, especially during summer months. Your walk will start at Victoria Pier in the heart of Lerwick, opposite the Market Cross. A leisurely stroll takes in the award winning, recently restored Tolbooth. This is now the headquarters of Lerwick's lifeboat station. You’ll see the unique "lodberries", once used by the town merchants for the landing and storage of goods. Climbing uphill you’ll observe a traditional method of recycling in the Shetlands, where an upturned former ferry is now the roof of a garage. You’ll pass various churches on the way to the steep, narrow, intricate web of lanes to the Town Hall, built in 1882. On the first floor, you’ll find the Shetlands' history depicted in pictorial narrative through stained glass windows. Proceed to Fort Charlotte, named after Queen Charlotte, wife of George III. The fort never saw action, but it housed a garrison throughout the Napoleonic Wars; it was later a base for the Royal Naval Reserve. It also served as the town jail and courthouse from 1837-75, and later a customs house and a coastguard station. At the end of your walking tour you may wish to stay in town to explore Lerwick's variety of small independent shops, browsing for local crafts and knitwear. less

Discover some of the most scenic parts of Mallorca and the lovely village of Valldemossa during this picturesque ride on the Soller Railway. Depart the pier for the approximately 50-minute sightseeing drive through Palma, and on to the Son Reus Train Station. Upon arrival, board the historic Soller train. The Soller Railway has been running a daily train service along the 17-mile (27-kilometre) route between Palma de Mallorca and Soller, without interruption, since 1912. Your scenic, 45-minute journey is an enchanting voyage highlighted by beautiful panoramic views of the Mallorcan Mountains, orange groves and small, fairytale-like villages. Pass through 13 tunnels and numerous bridges before arriving at Soller. After some free time in the beautiful village of Soller, board a coach for the drive to Son Marroig. This stunning estate is renowned for its picturesque setting on the slopes of Mallorca’s northern mountain range. You’ll make a photo stop at a lookout which offers spectacular views of the coastline and ‘Foradada’, a locally-renowned rock formation rising from the sea. Leaving Son Marroig, your drive continues on through the rugged northern interior of the island en route to Valldemossa, where a visit is made to the Carthusian Monastery. This 17th-century monastery, also known as ‘Cartuja’, is famous for its beautiful cloisters and gardens. More importantly, it housed two illustrious guests, composer Frédéric Chopin and novelist George Sand, during the winter of 1838-39. A guided tour of the monastery includes the cloisters, the 18th-century pharmacy, the former monks’ cells and the rooms once occupied by the famous couple. Following your visit, some time is made available for browsing the many shoppes at your leisure before re-boarding the coach for the approximately 30-minute drive back to the pier. Note: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking on uneven pathways, with some steps to negotiate at Soller Station and approximately 1/2 mile of walking. The train is not air-conditioned or wheelchair-accessible, and has wooden seats. The train journey is not exclusive to NCL guests. less

From Cannes, you’ll drive to Monaco, where after leaving your coach, you'll be carried to the top of the rock by escalators and elevators. On the upper level, enjoy a guided walking tour passing by the Oceanographic Museum, the cathedral, and view the exterior of the Prince's palace. After a short period of free time, you’ll reboard your coach and reach Monte Carlo Square where you’ll enjoy some additional leisure time to take in the attractions of your choice around the Place du Casino. You may wish to stroll across the street to admire the Hotel de Paris, do a little window shopping around the corner, or even try your luck at the Casino de Monte Carlo or the Cafe de Paris Casino. Note: Casino de Monte Carlo opens its Salles Americaines (free admission) at noon, with slot machines only. Salles Publiques (entrance fee of 10 Euros in cash) is open at 12:00 noon for Roulette, 2:00 p.m. for slot machines. Visitors must be at least 18 years of age, show passport and driver’s license. Formal dress is not required to enter most of the casino, but smart dress is strongly encouraged; no shorts or flip-flops are allowed. Your tour departs from the port passing through the main streets of Barcelona, to reach Catalunya Square, considered the heart of the city. From here, you’ll continue the panoramic drive along Passeig de Gracia, the best-known boulevard in town. Your guide will point out two of the masterpieces of Gaudi’s architecture: the Casa Mila and Casa Batllo; two of the best-known landmarks of the city. Reaching Diagonal Avenue your tour continues to Montserrat, a peculiar rocky mountain range which is the site of the monastery where people come to worship 'La Moreneta,' the black Madonna who is the patron-virgin of Catalonia. The Benedictine Monastery of Montserrat was founded in the 11th century and is located in a natural park 37 miles to the west of Barcelona. The Benedictine community, now numbering some 80 monks, has served the shrine for almost a thousand years. They are dedicated to a life of prayer, to working, and to welcoming pilgrims, making the site a place for dialogue, prayer and culture. Besides the monks, the Escolans also live in Montserrat who form the oldest boy’s choir in Europe. During your stay and visit to Montserrat, you’ll visit the sanctuary and have free time to take-in the activity of your choice. Spend extra time at the sanctuary, explore some more, take pictures, shop for that last minute souvenir, have lunch or grab a coffee at one of the restaurants and cafeterias on location. Once you finish the visit you’ll be driven to a Norwegian Cruise Line program hotel, Mont Blanc, Catalunya Square, or the airport. Leaving the ship take a drive by coach over the new panoramic road to a viewpoint from where you can see the magnificent view of Dubrovnik and its Riviera. After the panoramic stop, you’ll drive toward the picturesque seaside resort town of Cavtat, which was the Ancient Roman City of Epidaurus. Over the years Cavtat has been a favorite destination for sailors and yacht enthusiasts, in fact Edward VIII and Wallace Simpson came here during their honeymoons. In Cavtat you’ll have opportunity for a pleasant walk along the sea front promenade or have a coffee in one of many cafes located along the coast. From Cavtat, you’ll drive along the eastern coast of the Dubrovnik Riviera toward Komaji Village to visit a winery. Upon arrival, proceed to the Crvik family vineyards. The owner of the winery will greet you on arrival and give you a presentation about his wines and will show you the production process. He’ll even invite you to participate in a tasting of his vintage wines. Following the tasting, you’ll re-board your coach and depart for Dubrovnik. Founded in the mid-7th century by Greek refugees from Epidaurus, Dubrovnik became the most important city-state on the Adriatic. The Old Town is unique for its marble-paved squares, cobbled streets, tall houses, churches, palaces, fountains, and museums, all built from the same light-colored stone. Along the way, you’ll visit the Dominican Monastery, inside where you’ll discover the finest collection of Renaissance paintings in Dubrovnik. Among the many works by local and Italian masters is a painting by Tizian. After the walking tour, you’ll have some free time to explore on your own. Today, Dubrovnik is as beautiful as ever, waiting to be explored and enchant visitors as it has done for centuries. Note: This tour is not suitable for passengers who have difficulties walking due to the inclines and cobblestone streets. Visit the archaeological site of Olympia. The site was a sanctuary even before the stadium was built and the games took place in 776 B.C. Today, only parts of the temple remain at the museum and only ruins remain at the site. The Temple of Zeus no longer exists and its traces have disappeared through the ages. The Temple of Hera, Prytaneion, and Philippeion were monuments standing in the sacred grove. The famous Stadium, with a capacity of 45,000 spectators, is entered through a long, tunnel-like passage. Stand at the starting line and imagine the voices of thousands of spectators seating on the stone bleachers. Continue with a drive through picturesque countryside to a local family-owned wine estate where you’ll be welcomed by the owners, the Kanellakopoulos family. Start you tour from the winery, with a mix of old and new equipment, the cellar and the very old olive press. Afterward, visit the traditional family museum with a collection of various old agricultural tools and equipment, interwoven with the estate cultivation throughout the years. You’ll have the opportunity to taste the local wines and snacks offered by the owners. less

Despite its small size, Slovenia is quite varied in terms of landscape. Between the Alps and the sea, you’ll find the broad belt of the Slovenian Karst, which is part of the great Dinaric mountain range. This is a mainly limestone area notable for a special karstic phenomena, both visible in its topography and underground. Take an approximately one hour drive from Koper to the Karst region which hides a unique underworld beneath this beautiful landscape. This is a unique opportunity to explore the subterranean filled with natural surprises. An electric train will take you to Postojna Cave for a 1 1 /2 hour visit. Well-kept paths comprise the greater part of the cave so it does not present any difficulties for most visitors.
Your trail begins at the cave’s railway station and will take you to the first natural passage, known as the “Upturned Ship”. Visit Gothic Hall rich in stalactite decoration, where the remains of Ice Age animals have been found and the Conference Hall, previously known as the Ballroom, has been the venue for dances and concerts for 180 years. While you admire these natural sculptures, the train takes you to Great Mountain where the tour of the caves continues on foot in groups led by guides. The trail takes you past characteristic cave formations to the Russian Bridge and the Beautiful Caves, then into the White Hall, the Red Hall, the Tiger Hall and the Winter Hall, all the way to the Brilliant Passage, the most famous stalagmite of all and the symbol of Postojna Cave. At the Predjama Castle photo stop, a former hideout for the brazen knight named Erazem of Predjama, evidence indicates that this steep and imposing cliff has been fortified since at least the 13th century. Reboard your train by the Conference Hall to return to the surface and to your waiting ship in Koper.
Note: We recommend that you wear good walking shoes and bring a jacket as the caves keep a temperature of about 10 degrees Celsius or 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Guests must be able to walk over various surfaces with approximately 80 steps. less

Cross the stark lava fields of the Reykjanes Peninsula to the famed Blue Lagoon, one of the most popular and well known of Iceland’s Hot Spots. Soak up a little of the surreal, steamy atmosphere at this Icelandic Geothermal Spa. Enjoy a stroll in and around the Spa Complex before continuing through the fishing town of Hafnarfjordur. Here, you’ll pass the impressive, carved, wooden exterior of the Fjorukrain Viking Village. Take in a leisurely overview of Reykjavik before making a final stop at one of the City’s best known landmarks, the Pearl. Originally built for hot water storage in the 1930s, the Pearl now houses an elegant revolving restaurant, an interesting museum, cafeteria and small souvenir shop. A man-made "geyser" spouts a huge column of water through the building at conveniently spaced intervals. Visit the viewing platform where you’ll view the city’s colorful rooftops and beyond. Discover the highlights of Tenerife's capital by foot. Join your guide and see places most tourists miss. Not far from the harbor, you’ll find a fusion of modernity and tradition in the Plaza de España, next to the Cabildo (municipal council). Head towards the Guimera Theater, built in 1849 in classical romantic style. Nearby is Noria Street with its many pubs and restaurants where locals enjoy nightlife and where you’ll learn about the ‘murgas’, the satiric singing groups which perform songs during the carnival. You’ll notice that each 'murga' has its own colonial-style house where they rehearse their songs in strict secrecy so other 'murgas' don't find out what their lyrics are. Your journey continues with a visit to the municipal market ‘Nuestra Señora de Africa’ where you’ll find traditional foods, local fruits and vegetables and everything the locals buy every day in this popular market. Continue over the Serrador Bridge towards Calle Castillo (Castle Street) where most of the city center shops are located. Your walk leads you to Weyler Square. See the beautiful Carrara marble fountain and the palace of the Captaincy General. Head to Garcia Sanabria Park; an idyllic urban park in the heart of the city. Its large garden area where the vegetation blends with walkways, fountains, sculptures and gazebos, invites to leisurely walks and relaxation. You next destination is Pilar Street, lined with high-end shops. Before heading back to the port, you’ll have an opportunity to admire Principe Square and the San Francisco church. You may opt to stay in town a little longer to shop or explore more of this lovely city on your own or instead follow your guide back to the ship. Note: This tour involves a considerable amount of walking, participants should be fit. It’s not suitable for those on wheelchairs or with walking difficulties. We recommend you bring a bottle of water, wear a cap and sunglasses. Included in your tour is a visit to religious sites, please dress appropriately; no bare shoulders or shorts are allowed in churches.The market is closed on Easter, Christmas Eve and New Years Eve, so tour itinerary will vary during holidays. less
