Start with a brief introductory drive through Messina on your way to enchanting Taormina, a town with a Medieval character. Its natural drama is enhanced by the bold backdrop of Mt. Etna. Your walking tour takes you down narrow lanes, passing the Palazzo Corvaia, en route to the impressive Greek Theater. Here you’ll have time to wander at Corso Umberto, featuring lots of narrow streets lined with shops. Leaving Taormina to Mt. Etna, the scenic road winds around the mountain, passing picturesque towns. After lunch at a restaurant on the slopes of this impressive volcano, continue to Cratere Silvestri, situated over 6,000 feet above sea level. From this vantage point you’ll have stunning views of the Gulf of Catania and surrounding areas. But of course, the major attraction is the crater and the remnants of the awe-inspiring streams of lava. Note: The uphill walk is approximately 650 feet from the coach parking to the crater area. We recommend you bring a windbreaker or light jacket as it can be windy and chilly at the top of the volcano. less

Visit Stockholm’s oldest and coziest quarters, the Old Town of Gamla Stan. Witness the historic elegance of the exterior of the dominating Royal Palace, and travel through the narrow, twisting alleys and cobblestone streets. You’ll also see Stortorget and the Great Square, the hub of the Old Town, dominated by the old Stock Exchange, today housing the Nobel Museum and the Swedish Academy. Rejoin your coach and continue through the city center and on to the Nordic Hotel in the heart of the city, where the world’s first permanent ice bar is located. The interior is kept at -5° Centigrade all year round. The whole interior, including glasses, is made of pure, clear ice from the Torne River in Northern Sweden. A complimentary drink in an ice glass will be served and the staff will tell you more about the bar and its construction. After tasty drinks you’ll drive to Djurgarden, a favorite getaway spot for Stockholm residents. In the Vasa Museum, you’ll see the Swedish warship ‘Vasa’, once considered the pride of Sweden’s navy. The present museum is built around the restored 17th century warship, which sank in Stockholm’s inner harbor on her maiden voyage in 1628. Its salvage in 1961, with more than 12,000 objects on board, is one of the most important events in marine archaeology. Note: You’ll spend approximately 25 minutes in the ice bar. Depending on the licensing laws, non-alcoholic drinks will be served if the bar is unable to offer vodka. Tour sequence may vary in order to avoid congestion at the venues. There are cobblestone streets in the Old Town. You’ll have some free time for lunch on your own in the Old Town or City Centre. less

For the most adventurous, this is the perfect tour to correlate the disastrous eruption of Vesuvius and the destruction of the splendid city of Pompeii. Visit the famous city destroyed by a volcanic eruption and learn how its inhabitants lived. Learn how prior to the eruption of Vesuvius, Pompeii was a thriving city, teeming with privileged rich people and ordinary slaves. See their homes and places of work during the days of the Roman Empire. The city was prosperous due to the region’s fertile soil. Hike up to the volcano’s crater and see the rivers of lava where crevices still exude fumes and heat. Vesuvius has erupted many times, but the eruption that stays in the mind of millions of people is the one in 79 A.D. Take in stunning views of Naples and the bay from the top. Time permitting, you’ll visit a cameo factory near Pompeii. Note: The tour will not operate for Norwegian Jade winter sailings from the end of November through mid-April. The steep gravel path to the crater is about 550 yards and takes approximately 40 minutes to walk round-trip. This tour is not recommended for guests with a history of heart disease or high blood pressure and does not include lunch. Guests should bring along local currency to purchase a snack outside of Pompeii. During summer months expect extreme heat, crowded venues and long lines. We recommend that you dress in layers and bring bottled water. In the event of bad weather and the closure of Mt. Vesuvius crater, an orientation drive of Naples will be done instead. less

Enjoy the fun and adventure of Corfu’s countryside while traveling over stony trails through the olive groves. You’ll catch glimpses of the sparkling Ionian Sea and beautiful green hills and take a look at the traditional way of life led by many of the local people. After picking up your 4 x 4 vehicle at the pier, your guide will lead you up the main coastal road to the northeast of the island. You’ll then take small country roads to quaint villages, stopping at one of the prettiest traditional and oldest villages of the island to take in the views. The type of vehicle used in this tour can only be found in Iceland. Each vehicle is custom built with the biggest available road legal tires in the world. These Supertrucks are piloted by trained professionals who have an intimate knowledge of the sensitive Icelandic sub-Arctic nature. This super 4x4 adventure takes you to places magically created by the power of volcanoes, ice and time. Shortly after heading out from Reykjavik, you’ll leave Road No. 1 to drive along the pipeline road until you get to the mountain and pass Frakkastigur Track where you'll go 'off road'. Frakkastigur Mountain Pass offers panoramic views over Lake Pingvallavatn, active volcano Hengill, the geothermal powerplant of Nesjavellir and its surroundings – truly a breathtaking view. Nesjavellir Power Plant, which was formally opened in 1990, powers a 190-megawatt geothermal plant, using the nearby field of boreholes, developing the largest high-temperature field in Iceland. This incredible geothermal field is in fact one of the main sources of hot water harnessed to heat houses of Reykjavik. From Nesjavellir you’ll take the gravel road along Lake Thingvallavatn, driving along the lush farmlands of the south to the birch grown area of Thrastarlundur. Here, in this beautiful area, you’ll make a short comfort stop before continuing your adventure. After re-boarding your vehicle, you’ll head off the beaten track by way of a trail known as 'The Thousand Waters'. Your convoy winds its way through numerous rivers, mud banks and streams before arriving back in the capital.
