This tour combines the main sights of Helsinki and a visit to the Seurasaari Open-Air Museum. Drive by the colorful open-air market and stop at Senate Square with the elegant Lutheran Cathedral for a photo opportunity. Continue past the Uspenski Cathedral and see the icebreakers docked for the summer season. Then, it’s on to Mannerheim Street, the main thoroughfare and home to Parliament House, the National Museum and Finlandia Hall. Also pass the new Contemporary Art museum, Kiasma, the Olympic Stadium - the venue for the Olympic Games of 1952, and the new Opera House, completed in 1993. Continue to the Seurasaari Open-Air Museum, located on a beautiful green island just a few miles from the heart of Helsinki. The island is a tranquil oasis in the midst of the city and here, the traditional Finnish way of life is portrayed in the cottages, farmsteads and manors of the past four centuries that have been relocated from around the different provinces of Finland. The oldest building on the island is a 1686 wooden church from Karuna, near Turku. The guided walking tour is a fast way of getting to know traditional Finnish life and architecture while enjoying the beautiful surroundings. You’ll be treated to coffee and a traditional pastry in this country setting. Then it’s on to the unique Temppeliaukio Rock Church, blasted into solid rock. At the end of the tour, should time allow, you can get off in the downtown area to explore the city on your own or return by your bus to the cruise pier. Should you decide to remain in the city, you’ll be responsible for your own return to the cruise pier. Note: Order of sights might vary. Guides are not allowed to escort large groups through churches while a service is in progress. In this instance the guide will describe the church from the outside. We cannot guarantee entry if services are being held. Due to new traffic restrictions, buses will no longer be allowed to drive nearby the rock church; therefore, there will be a 20 minute walk to and from the church (approximately 1,600 feet). Guests must be able to perform substantial walks over uneven surfaces. This tour will not be available on 5/13/13 and 9/16/13 as the Open Air Museum will be closed. less

Spend your time experiencing Corfu’s most beautiful and renowned landmarks. Drive through the countryside dotted with lemon and olive trees, to reach the charming village of Gastouri where the Achilleion Palace stands. It was built by the Empress Elizabeth of Austria in 1891 and was recently renovated. Its beautiful gardens, full of exotic flowers and the imposing figure of Achilles dominating the center, offer magnificent views of the Ionian Sea. Continue driving along the coastal road of Perama, where you’ll stop to take photographs of the famous views of Mouse Island before returning to Corfu town. Leave your coach in the Esplanade, the main square of the town, for a walk through the picturesque streets of the Old town. Here you’ll view historical sights such as the residence of the British High Commissioner, the Venetian quarters of Cambiello and Corfu’s historical center, the Town Hall and the Church of Saint Spyridon, Patron Saint of Corfu. At the end of the tour you can either board your coach to return to your ship, or remain in the city a bit longer and return to your ship later on your own. Note: During summer months expect extreme heat, crowded venues and long lines. Temperatures can reach extreme highs during summer months; we recommend that you drink a lot of water, use suitable sun protection and dress in layers. Enjoy an overview of this legendary city’s best-known attractions, including buildings of Mudejar and Gothic architecture, lovely parks and the bullring. Departing the port, your sightseeing drive will take you along Alameda Boulevard en route to the hilltop location of Gibralfaro. As you walk along the ramparts crowning the 560-feet-high summit, admire splendid views over the city, the harbor and the bullring. Then your coach will take you back down to the Plaza de la Merced for a short walk to the Alcazaba. At the foot of this ancient fortress, view the excavated ruins of a Roman amphitheater. The restored Alcazaba dates back to the 11th century when the king of Granada ordered the fortress built and modeled on the style of the Alhambra. After the Christian conquest, the Catholic kings took over the Alcazaba and King Philip IV used it as his residence when visiting Malaga. Leaving the Alcazaba, your walk continues to the cathedral. You’ll admire its fabulous interior, the exquisitely carved choir stalls and other fine examples of Spanish Renaissance sculpture. Note: This tour involves approximately two miles (1,200 meters) of walking on uneven ground, as well as many steps at both the Gibralfaro Castle and the Alcazaba. Shorts and bare shoulders are not permitted in the cathedral. less

On this leisurely exploration, you’ll see dramatic scenery of desert terrain, breathtaking seascapes and rugged coastline, marked by unusual rock formations. Visit a local glass-blowing factory to observe native craftsmen at work and to purchase glassware. Have some refreshments at a scenic stop while you enjoy the panoramic view of Cabo San Lucas Bay. Set course to the picturesque town of San Jose del Cabo to take a guided tour of the commons and the Jesuit mission church. You’ll have some free time to explore before taking a ride to the heart of Cabo San Lucas, the Zocalo. Here, engage in an enlightening chat about the original settlement of Cabo and the indigenous flora of the region. Finalize by tour at the old opera house, now converted to a popular local restaurant. Here you’ll enjoy a free tequila sample before returning to your ship. Note: Since your final stop is just a short walking distance from the pier; you’ll have the option to stay in town to browse in the small shops and return to the pier on your own. less

Your coach will take you inland, passing through Sao Martinho to the Socorridos ravine. Eira do Serrado is reached after a short drive along a winding road, offering spectacular views of the interior of the island. Here, it is a short and easy walk up to the viewpoint on Pico de Serrado at an altitude of approximately 3,592 feet (1,094 meters), for an amazing view down onto the village of Curral das Freiras. Curral das Freiras (Nuns Valley) is a small village nestling between almost perpendicular mountains in the heart of the island. In 1566, the nuns from the Santa Clara convent fled from pirates attacking Funchal and found seclusion here where they also brought the convent’s treasure. Your next stop will be at Monte. This small village, perched up in the hills overlooking Funchal, was formerly a health resort for Europe's high society, including Austrian Emperor Charles I. One of its long-lost features was a rack railway, which connected Monte with Funchal. From here you will board the cable car and see Madeira from the air, experiencing the wonderful views all the way down to Funchal. The cable car is made up of 40 small cabins with a capacity of up to eight people per cabin and it has an approximate duration of 15 minutes. Your last stop will be at an important wine lodge, where a sample of the famous Madeira wine will be offered. Note: A jacket is recommended as Madeira has a microclimate. This tour involves approximately 3/4-mile of walking (5 to 10 minutes) on cobblestones and uneven surfaces with approximately five steps to get to the viewpoint at Eira Do Serrado; approximately 10 steps at Monte and five to eight steps at the Madeira Wine Company. Cable car is not suitable for guests with walking difficulties as access is similar to a ski lift; i.e. cable car does not stop for boarding, rather it moves slowly. An approximately five-minute walk is required from the bus stop to the wine lodge. less
