On the tour you’ll pass through the historic seaport, by Southernmost Point, down exciting Duval Street, and unearth the stories of our unique heritage from the Bahamas, Cuba and New England. From bold Spanish explorers and brave wreckers to the great cigar barons and sponge magnates, you’ll be transported from the golden age of settlement through the exciting days of the railroad, and discover island life through the years of the Great Depression. You’ll quickly see why Key West has been home to writers and poets, musicians and artists, and visitors who find the Southernmost City magical. Your tour will conclude at Mallory Square, the hub of Old Town Key West. Filled with great shops and attractions including the Key West Aquarium and Key West Shipwreck Treasures Museum, Mallory Square is where you’ll find the island’s best conch fritters at the conch fritter stand and delicious Cuban conch cuisine at "El Meson de Pepe". This is an ideal opportunity for bird watchers and nature lovers to spend a day in absolute relaxation. In the tropical atmosphere of the Mexican Pacific Coast, one mile south of Mazatlan, is where your boat is ready for an estuary run to admire the natural beauty of four miles of mangroves. From your boat, you’ll see your ship, the 104-year-old Pacifico Brewery, the Mexican Navy Base and the shrimp and tuna fishing fleets along the harbor. Enjoy your guided cruise down mangrove and palm tree-lined waterways in Mexico’s largest estuary/wetland system. Explore the private world of the Mexican brown pelican, blue heron, sea hawk, osprey and other exotic water fowl in this protected wildlife refuge, the best place for nature lovers. Disembark and board your transportation for a ride through a peaceful area where a variety of fruit trees are grown and through a coconut plantation on the way to a typical beachfront restaurant to enjoy a delightful fish lunch and have time for a swim or just relax. Take a scenic drive to the tropical forest area of Bijagual, which is located near the boundaries of the Carara Biological Reserve. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to visit Pura Vida Botanical Gardens, one of the most spectacular private gardens in Costa Rica. See beautifully manicured gardens noticing that they are also bordered by one of the tallest waterfalls in the country. Pura Vida is home to over 60,000 flowering plants, including 60 varieties of heliconia, 10 varieties of ginger, and orchids. Look for butterflies, macaws, parrots, parakeets, toucans, kingfishers, birds of prey, and waterfowl. During the 1 1/2 hour guided walk along gravel trails, your guide will help you explore this incredible wonderland. Take in the ocean views in the distance as you meander through the walkways and see some wildlife. After the walk concludes, continue on for a few minutes to Villa Lapas Ecological Hotel, where fresh tropical fruits will replenish your energy. Then browse the gift shop for souvenirs before heading back to your ship. Weather permitting, a quick stop will also made at the Tarcoles River for crocodile observation. The specially designed shallow platform allows you to get 'up close' to a dolphin during this 20-minute program. Meet your highly experienced trainer who will educate you about the dolphin’s anatomy and physiology. Dolphins will slide gracefully onto the platform and allow you to hug, pet and play with them while exploring their beautiful sleek bodies. Enjoy feeding and dancing with your dolphin and receive a big fishy kiss! This dolphin encounter program is perfect for all ages or non-swimmers. Note: Participants must be at least 3 years of age. Children 3-7 years of age must be accompanied by a participating adult. No infants allowed. Please inform the Shore Excursion staff if you have any infants taking the tour as they will need a ticket to check in at the facility. After a brief presentation, head down the dock to a 14,500-square-foot holding pen and as you stand waist-deep in the water, you’ll be introduced to the beautiful Pacific bottlenose dolphin in a hands-on, up-close encounter for approximately 15 minutes. They are as curious about you as you are about them. Take full advantage of this unique opportunity to pet them gently and you’ll even receive a dolphin kiss. During your encounter you’ll also learn ways to ensure their preservation and foster the well-being of these amazing creatures. After your activity with the dolphins, enjoy a complimentary lunch at the dolphin marina and free time to purchase souvenirs or photos to remind you and your family of this incredible experience. A short stop will be made on your way out to visit Hacienda Dona Engracia, one of the finest tequila factories in the area. You’ll have an opportunity to talk, touch, play and swim with gentle and exquisite bottlenose dolphins. Your swim experience begins with a brief presentation on dolphin characteristics, how to use hand signals and positive reinforcement to communicate with your dolphin and various safety guidelines. Next, your group of no more than eight participants will head to the Dolphin Lagoon where you’ll wade into the shallow, clear waters to begin your exclusive dolphin experience. You'll meet and play with a dolphin for 30 minutes, getting to know each other through hugs, kisses, rubdowns and ultimately, an exciting belly ride. The duration of the program is approximately 60 minutes, including orientation. After your dolphin swim, enjoy complimentary lunch at the dolphin marina and some free time to purchase memories of your experience with the dolphins.
