Your journey starts with a short taxi ride to the Continuity of Life Monument, where your walking tour begins. First, make your way to a rocky promontory to watch the local cliff divers. You’ll learn about several monuments as you continue through Old Mazatlan, past the Military Hospital and Bank of Mexico building which is surrounded by old houses. Continue into the heart of the old downtown, where you’ll find the historical center of Mazatlan, while your guide informs you about the area’s history. Visit an old-style bakery, the House of Music, a museum, old houses and the magnificent and recently restored to its original European-style Angela Peralta Theater, named in honor of the world-famous Mexican opera singer. Complimentary refreshments will be served before proceeding with your walking tour through the narrow streets, arriving at the city’s main square. Here you’ll find City Hall, the post office building, the cathedral (dating back from 1875) and the city market where your walking tour ends. You have the option to return directly to your ship or be dropped at the Golden Zone for some shopping. If you decide to go to the Golden Zone, it will be your responsibility to get back to your ship on time. Note: Wear comfortable walking shoes. Sidewalks can be uneven in many areas. less

This combination excursion gives you the opportunity to ride a historical train that has been in service for more than 50 years and participate on a scenic ride through rural countryside and tropical fields. Afterwards, board your motorcoach en route to the Tarcoles River where you’ll go on a boat and explore the spectacular natural scenery this river has to offer. The river and mangroves attract many types of bird wildlife such as toucans, spoonbills, herons, egrets, jacanas, pelicans, scarlet macaws, iguanas and crocodiles. Upon your return enjoy some live marimba melodies and enjoy a delicious buffet of seasonal fruits and tropical refreshments. Enough time will be provided to select crafts made by local artisans before returning to your ship. Note: This excursion might operate in reverse order. Please wear casual clothing, comfortable walking shoes, a hat, sunscreen, and bring a camera and raingear. Wildlife sightings while common cannot be guaranteed. Advance notice is needed for guests in wheelchairs; motorized scooters cannot be handled, only foldable wheelchairs. The type of walking required is along even roads and compact gravel trails. A free bird guide will be provided at the beginning of the river cruise, which will allow participants to identify any feathered creatures seen along the way. less

Discover beautiful Mazatlan in a two-passenger mini-Rhino. See various sites that the ordinary tourists cannot see; this is a perfect vehicle to drive on the narrow streets of the Historic District. Before starting the tour, you’ll receive a brief orientation and safety instructions from your guide. Start by visiting the Cathedral, Machado Plaza which is considered to be the heart of the historic district as well as the Opera House and its museum. Next, stop at the Diver’s site for an amazing cliff diver’s show; continue driving north along the ocean front boulevard towards New Mazatlán. Here, enjoy the scenery and views of ‘Puerto Viejo Bay’, beaches and islands. Upon arrival to the Rhino’s base camp in the Golden Zone, you’ll have time for some shopping before returning to your ship. Note: Participants must be at least 8 years of age and weigh no more than 250 lbs. Drivers must be 18 years old and present a valid driver’s license to the tour operator. Price is per mini Rhino. Only one person needs to book the tour. Pregnant women and guests with back/neck injuries may not participate on this excursion. Closed-toe shoes are required. less

Explore the secluded beaches of Mazatlan on a scenic and exciting ATV Adventure and then enjoy free time to relax on the beach. You’ll travel approximately 30 minutes by bus or van to Delfin Beach where your semi-automatic ATV will be waiting. Upon arrival, your guide will provide instructions and safety gear. Hop on your one-person ATV and travel caravan-style along the most beautiful, off-the-beaten-path beaches in Mazatlan. Stop along the way to take photos and enjoy the natural wonders that surround you. Ride for approximately 1½ hours, and then return to a beachfront restaurant. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to prepare your own quesadilla on site which is made with handmade corn tortillas and enjoy refreshing soft drinks before returning to the ship. This tour is perfect for both the beginner as well as the more advanced off-road rider. Note: Participants must be at least 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license and weigh less than 290 lbs. Due to rough terrain this tour is not for pregnant women, guests with heart or respiratory conditions, back or neck injuries. Participants should wear long shorts or pants and closed-toe shoes; bring a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen. Wear your swimsuit under your clothes and bring a towel if you wish to swim. On this leisurely exploration, you’ll see dramatic scenery of desert terrain, breathtaking seascapes and rugged coastline, marked by unusual rock formations. Visit a local glass-blowing factory to observe native craftsmen at work and to purchase glassware. Have some refreshments at a scenic stop while you enjoy the panoramic view of Cabo San Lucas Bay. Set course to the picturesque town of San Jose del Cabo to take a guided tour of the commons and the Jesuit mission church. You’ll have some free time to explore before taking a ride to the heart of Cabo San Lucas, the Zocalo. Here, engage in an enlightening chat about the original settlement of Cabo and the indigenous flora of the region. Finalize by tour at the old opera house, now converted to a popular local restaurant. Here you’ll enjoy a free tequila sample before returning to your ship. Your day of discovery begins when you board you air conditioned transportation. You’ll pass by buildings and homes featuring Colonial, Republican and Moorish styles and your guide explains the many influences that came to be in Cartagena. Your first stop will be 'Punta Icacos', near the fishing village of La Boquilla. Here, you’ll be greeted by local fishermen who earn a living by traditional means of fishing. These fishermen will explain the process of making, repairing and casting the nets, as well as provide a demonstration. You’ll even have the opportunity to learn the art of throwing the net if you wish or you can also sip on fresh coconut milk or coconut water while you watch your companions cast the net. On your way back to Cartagena your guide will provide you with more information regarding Columbian history including the "Vallenato". The Vallenato is a traditional type of music typically using an accordion, flute and drum. Next, stop at Rancho Grande where you’ll be greeted and entertained by your own band of Vallenato. Sample a traditional Columbian snack or "frito" if you whish before making your way to the Emerald Museum. Here, you’ll see craftsmen at work as well as learn the history and cultural importance of the precious stone. Then, visit the famous walled or Old City and Portal de Dulce, an area where local vendors sell the handmade Columbian candies, famous around the world. Take a sweet sample before continuing your walk through the Plaza de la Aduana and Simon Bolivar Square. Along the way your guide will point out areas of interest as well as information on the many churches, building and monuments before you begin your free time in the colonial city. Feel free to stroll along the beautiful streets, browse the many shops and admire the beautiful architecture and flower covered balconies before returning to your ship. Note: Bring comfortable shoes and casual clothes. Wear sunscreen. Participants must be able to stand and walk unassisted as well as easily navigate narrow pathways. Your sightseeing drive through rolling hills, high mountains, plains, valleys, and riverbeds is just part of the gorgeous landscape that make you think of paradise. Costa Rica’s topography is one of the world’s most diverse. You’ll start by heading east to Esparza, a town that has become one of the most picturesque in the Costa Rica’s Central Pacific region. The central park and its church are emblematic of Costa Rica’s hardworking rural towns. Local dancers will greet you at the park with colorful dresses and you’ll enjoy the masquerades and hand-made souvenir exhibitions while you learn about their traditions. Your scenic drive includes some stretches along the Pacific Ocean passing by mango and cashew plantations, farming areas and most certainly seeing some birds along the way, all examples of sustainable living. Take the opportunity to capture unique pictures for back home, while traveling down to sea level, admiring the most breathtaking views. Enjoy a leisurely paced walking tour of Cabo San Lucas. Explore a part of Cabo that many never see, such as the famous Cabo Wabo and the incredible buys at the local flea market for starters. After a brief walk from the pier with your tour guide, your first stop is a very folkloric street where your warm up for shopping will take place. Then it’s off to the church of San Lucas - a small catholic church built in 1730 by Spanish missionaries. Across the street is the main park in town where you’ll enjoy a popsicle and walk to the town square to learn about the culturally rich background of Cabo. View real whale skeletons set up on display and visit the local Cabo San Lucas museum. Follow your guide down a scenic side street on your way to a popular Mexican restaurant to enjoy a complimentary, non-alcoholic beverage and after a brief stop there continue past the legendary Cabo Wabo Cantina owned by the 1980s rock star Sammy Hagar of the famed rock band Van Halen. Move on to the local market and try your bargaining skills, from hammocks to clothes, trinkets to leather goods, talavera pottery and much, much more…you’ll find all the souvenirs you need at the flea market. Let's party aboard a Chiva! Drink, laugh, clap, sing and listen to jokes, as you enjoy non-stop "papayera" or "vallenato". Meet new people, enjoy live music and take part in the open bar while your Chiva takes you around Cartagena. You’ll make a photo stop at San Felipe Fortress, Manga, Pie de la Popa, El Centro, Boca Grande, Laguito, Castillo Grande, and the old city. Your Chiva will stop at the historic Santa Calatina’s Bastion. Here you can stretch, enjoy refreshments, dance to the beat of the music band or enjoy local entertainment. You’ll have some time for souvenir and handicraft shopping at Las Bovedas Artisan Center. Note: Chiva buses are old artisan modified buses used in rural areas for public transport. They are painted colorfully with local arabesques and figures. Most of the chivas have an incorporated ladder for the rack on the roof which is also used for carrying people; seats are bench like, made out of wood and with doors instead of windows and all of them have a unique nickname. Explore Baja California's desert aboard a rugged Jeep® Wrangler. Your destination is La Candelaria, a small oasis village in the middle of the desert. Once your vehicle is assigned, you’ll set out across the desert caravan-style, following your local guide. Along the drive you’ll be shown some of the local flora and fauna that is found all over the Baja. There are several working ranches along the way, where you’ll see herds of cows and goats roaming the roads. Keep your camera ready as there are many photo opportunities. Driving will be shared among the four guests in the Jeep®. At La Candelaria, you’ll be served a delicious snack and a soft drink or bottled water at the local boarding school, which is home to approximately 75 students during the school week. You’ll also visit a local artist specializing in pottery. As the works are in high demand, there are not always samples available for viewing. Back in the convoy, continue your exploration down one of Baja's largest river washes until it reaches the Pacific Ocean. At the beach, you’ll have some free time to comb the beach for shells or just relax and watch the waves crashing on the shore. Your return trip to the pier will be along Baja's famed Highway 1. Note: Participants must be at least 5 years of age to snorkel. Drivers must be at least 25 and present a valid driver's license. All vehicles have manual transmission and a maximum capacity of four passengers per vehicle. Due to the nature of this tour, pregnant women or guests with any known medical condition or history of illness, including heart condition, knee pain or injury, spinal and or neck pain or injury or any recent injuries should not participate. Guests must be able to walk approximately 750 yards over uneven dirt surfaces to do the walking portion of this tour. Guests with mobility problems can rest at the boarding school while the rest of the group participates on the walking portion of the tour. less

Board your air-conditioned transportation for the approximately 45-minute drive to the infamous mud volcano. On the way to the volcano, pass by the imposing San Felipe de Barajas Fortress situated outside the walled city. Here, you’ll have the opportunity enjoy a panoramic view of the old city. Upon arrival at the mud volcano an orientation to the rustic facilities will be provided. A mud volcano is created by natural gases emitted by decaying organic matter underground. As the mud is pushed upwards by the gas, it deposits and hardens above ground and forms what appears to be a huge anthill. As more mud oozes out and spills over the edge it grows in size, gradually forming what you can see today: a miniature 50-foot volcano with a rich, creamy, mud crater at the top. If you have never been in a mud volcano before, then the initial feeling of mud on your skin is unusual to say the least. When you feel like you are about to become one with the earth, just climb back down the staircase and stroll down to the nearby freshwater lake where you can wash the mud off. Note: The temperature of the mud is very warm to hot, therefore those who are susceptible to heat must not participate on this tour. It's said that the mud has healing properties; however the truth to this statement is not proven. To reach the top of the mud volcano where the pool of mud is located, requires the negotiation of numerous, steep steps. Wear a swimsuit and bring a towel and adequate sun protection. less
