Your tour begins with an interesting ride along Mazatlan’s oceanfront for a view of the lighthouse and offshore islands. Continue into the heart of the old downtown for a short visit to the imposing cathedral before a short stop at a waterfront rocky promontory to view the brave cliff divers. You’ll have time to browse or shop at the Golden Zone before heading for a resort for an afternoon of swimming, sunning and relaxing, where you’ll also enjoy a delightful lunch. Your escort will provide you with towels, a place to change and show you where lunch will be served. The return to your ship will be by taxi in groups of four. Note: We recommend that you bring your swimsuit, beach gear and leave your valuables on board the ship. less

Explore the heart and soul of Mazatlan; be amazed by Mexico´s ancient culture and Post-Hispanic era. Your tour will begin by stopping at Vigia Hill for a perfect view of the world’s highest natural Lighthouse, offshore islands and Mazatlan’s scenic coast line. Then, ride through the city’s historic center for a visit to the 19th-century cathedral. Take a short drive to see the famous cliff divers. Next, enjoy a show at Spectaculare Theatre, the history of Mexico with a semblance of the Mayan rituals and their prophecies combined with the most representative folkloric dances. After the show, you’ll have some free time to shop at the Golden Zone. Note: Wear comfortable walking shoes. A complementary drink will be offered at the show venue. less

From the embarcadero, begin your 30-minute journey on a motor catamaran across the harbor channel to Stone Island. Enjoy an open bar while you sail and watch the shrimp and tuna fleets and the famous Pacifico brewery. A typical cartload tractor will take you across part of this primitive town where most of the fishermen sleep on hammocks under the stars. You’ll have approximately four hours to spend in this setting, perfect for relaxation and swimming on miles of uncrowded, palm-lined beaches. Enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride or horseback ride along these 12 miles of beaches and countless coconut trees. An island-style lunch of fish, chicken, salad, rice, beans, homemade tortillas and salsa is served in a rustic restaurant. Beer, soft drinks and domestic drinks are included. Note: Participants must be at least 5 years of age. We recommend that you bring a towel, sunscreen, a hat and wear your swimsuit under your clothing. Local vendors are frequent at beach area. less

Take a journey for approximately 45 minutes to the ancient ruins of Izapa. From it’s beginnings as a small village, Izapa grew into the region’s most influential cultural and commercial center with a population of possibly up to 10,000 people. Izapa brought together many of Mesoamerica’s ancient cultures and many believe it may be the site of origin of the sacred Mayan Calendar; although, much study remains to be done in order to unlock these secrets. Next, travel by bus to Chocolate Discovery, where you’ll be able to see how the cocoa beans are transformed into chocolate right at the main square. Also, you’ll see and sample the local cuisine, as well as see a variety of local handcrafts and exotic flowers of the region. Local dances and marimba players will be sharing their skills with lively performances. After a stop at the local historic church, you will be on your way back to your ship. Note: Guests should wear a hat and comfortable shoes. Bring eco-friendly sunscreen and bug repellent. Most areas are not wheelchair accessible. less

This combination excursion gives you the opportunity to ride a historical train that has been in service for more than 50 years and participate on a scenic ride through rural countryside and tropical fields. Afterwards, board your motorcoach en route to the Tarcoles River where you’ll go on a boat and explore the spectacular natural scenery this river has to offer. The river and mangroves attract many types of bird wildlife such as toucans, spoonbills, herons, egrets, jacanas, pelicans, scarlet macaws, iguanas and crocodiles. Upon your return enjoy some live marimba melodies and enjoy a delicious buffet of seasonal fruits and tropical refreshments. Enough time will be provided to select crafts made by local artisans before returning to your ship. Note: This excursion might operate in reverse order. Please wear casual clothing, comfortable walking shoes, a hat, sunscreen, and bring a camera and raingear. Wildlife sightings while common cannot be guaranteed. Advance notice is needed for guests in wheelchairs; motorized scooters cannot be handled, only foldable wheelchairs. The type of walking required is along even roads and compact gravel trails. A free bird guide will be provided at the beginning of the river cruise, which will allow participants to identify any feathered creatures seen along the way. less

Experience Mexico’s past and present as you explore the ancient Mayan archaeological site of Izapa. Examine artifacts in the Regional Museum and then wander Tapachula’s town square on a sightseeing adventure that will both educate and delight you. Take an approximate 45 minute ride to the ancient ruins of Izapa. From it’s beginnings as a small village around 1500 B.C, Izapa grew into the region’s most influential cultural and commercial center. From here, you’ll travel by bus to the culturally diverse city of Tapachula whose history and heritage has been influenced not only by the Mayans, Mestizo and Spanish but by German, Chinese, Japanese and French immigrants as well. Visit the Archaeological Museum where you’ll be able to inspect Mayan artifacts found in the region. Then, your tour guide will introduce you to some the city’s highlights on a short walking tour around the town square. You’ll have free time for shopping in local artisan shops for leather goods, ceramics and more. You can also explore cafes and colorful streets before returning by bus to your ship. On this leisurely exploration, you’ll see dramatic scenery of desert terrain, breathtaking seascapes and rugged coastline, marked by unusual rock formations. Visit a local glass-blowing factory to observe native craftsmen at work and to purchase glassware. Have some refreshments at a scenic stop while you enjoy the panoramic view of Cabo San Lucas Bay. Set course to the picturesque town of San Jose del Cabo to take a guided tour of the commons and the Jesuit mission church. You’ll have some free time to explore before taking a ride to the heart of Cabo San Lucas, the Zocalo. Here, engage in an enlightening chat about the original settlement of Cabo and the indigenous flora of the region. Finalize by tour at the old opera house, now converted to a popular local restaurant. Here you’ll enjoy a free tequila sample before returning to your ship. Your day begins with a scenic drive to Palmares County. Along the way, a knowledgeable guide will provide you with fascinating information regarding Costa Rica's culture and history and give you the chance to ask questions. Once in Palmares, you’ll see Costa Rica’s most fascinating churches, and will have the opportunity to visit them and learn of their uniqueness. Your next stop will be Doka Estate, located at an altitude of 4,500 feet above sea level. This beautiful estate and coffee plantation was declared a historical and architectural heritage site by the Costa Rican Government. Your guide will relay the magic of coffee from seed to cup. Enjoy a typical buffet at La Cajuela restaurant surrounded by beautiful gardens with mountain views. You’ll have free time to visit souvenir shops and take home some special coffee products. Your last stop will be La Garita, a magnificent botanical garden featuring a learning greenhouse, flower showroom and a bird area of scarlet macaws, blue and gold macaws and cockatoos. This excursion combines the charm of both old and new Mexico. Begin with a drive through the Marina Vallarta area and a stop at the small village’s local church. Continue to Hacienda Dona Engracia, one of the finest tequila factories in the area for a first-hand look at the manufacturing process of tequila and some free time to explore the grounds of this working hacienda. A short shopping stop will be made on the way into the center of Puerto Vallarta where you can walk along the popular Malecon, visit the Cathedral of our Lady of Guadalupe and see Old Town City Hall, while taking in fantastic views of the waterfront and the charm of the cobblestone streets. This is an ideal opportunity for bird watchers and nature lovers to spend a day in absolute relaxation. In the tropical atmosphere of the Mexican Pacific Coast, one mile south of Mazatlan, is where your boat is ready for an estuary run to admire the natural beauty of four miles of mangroves. From your boat, you’ll see your ship, the 104-year-old Pacifico Brewery, the Mexican Navy Base and the shrimp and tuna fishing fleets along the harbor. Enjoy your guided cruise down mangrove and palm tree-lined waterways in Mexico’s largest estuary/wetland system. Explore the private world of the Mexican brown pelican, blue heron, sea hawk, osprey and other exotic water fowl in this protected wildlife refuge, the best place for nature lovers. Disembark and board your transportation for a ride through a peaceful area where a variety of fruit trees are grown and through a coconut plantation on the way to a typical beachfront restaurant to enjoy a delightful fish lunch and have time for a swim or just relax. Pass by some highlights such as the cliff divers who soar from their towering perch into a tiny dot of water; the Glorieta Germania lookout point, and the 19th-century Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. This Cathedral is just one block from the public market in the heart of the downtown area. You’ll see colorful buildings from the Golden Age of European architecture in the Historic District. You can also appreciate the latest in modern design at the new Convention Center, largest of its kind in the world according to the Guinness Book of World Records.
