As you approach the Icefield and its many glaciers, you’ll marvel at the twisted spires, deep blue crevasses and carved peaks that make up this ancient landscape. Soaring even higher, you may pass the Mendenhall Towers jagged rock sentinels that climb more than 7,000 feet and the spectacular icefalls that overflow to form the Mendenhall Glacier. View icefalls, spires, and the many hanging glaciers suspended on the surrounding mountainsides before a gentle landing on this slowly moving river of ice and explore the glaciers’ surface with your expert glacier guide. See and understand how glaciers form, flow and carve out the landscape. Following your glacier landing, you’ll depart for a thrilling flight back to civilization. Flying over these icefields and the Mendenhall Glacier, you’ll know that you have just experienced something special, walking on water, viewing ancient sights and witnessing dramatic natural beauty in a way, few ever do. Note: Flight time is approximately 30 minutes, with an approximately 20-25 minute landing on the glacier. This tour operates under a special use permit issued by the U.S. Forest Service. Discover the diversity of the southeast Alaska landscape via helicopter as you fly over temperate rainforests and granite peaks that surround Alaska’s capital city. To begin your walk, your pilot will choose a landing site on one of the 36 glaciers in this 1,500-square-mile Icefield. On this relaxing, non-strenuous, one-hour interpretive walk, your guide will point out and explain the glacier features and allows ample time for photos. Trekking poles and crampons will provide superb balance and traction, enabling you to travel easily on the gently rolling glacial terrain. Note: Participants must be at least 8 years of age and be able to stand and walk on rolling terrain for an hour. Flight time is approximately 35 minutes, with an hour on the glacier. Your tour begins with a sightseeing drive along the northeastern coastline to a small town known as St. Ann’s Bay. View the sights from your comfortable coach seat as your guide narrates the history, tales and interesting facts about Jamaica. Observe the town’s classic Court House of 1866 and Statue of Columbus, honoring his landing. On the return drive, observe the culture of exciting Ocho Rios as you are comfortably chauffeured through the stimulating town. A stop will be made at Wassi Art, a local pottery of skilled artisans. A guided tour allows you to interact with these fine artisans as they turn clay into masterpieces, found in the tempting gift shop at the end of the tour. Then, visit Jamaica’s Garden of Eden, the place that the Taino Indians called “Coyaba” or Paradise. Hear the roar, feel the fresh mist of the spray from the spectacular waterfall, cascading down, level after glorious level. Experience the thrill of kayaking in a creek through pristine jungle and finish the day relaxing in the sun at a first class jungle resort. Board an air-conditioned bus for a guided tour through Belize City on your way to the Eco-Park. Climb into your two person kayak and start your tour paddling into a narrow creek shaded by Swamp Kaway. The creek then widens into a small lagoon where, turtles and juvenile crocodiles may be spotted. With some luck you might get to see a lizard skimming across the surface of the water, upright! You would have just seen the Striped Basilisk known by locals as the “Jesus Christ Lizard” because it can walk on water! Discover the Mexican countryside on horseback. Arrive at Hacienda Dona Engracia where your guide will conduct a short orientation, then match each rider with a horse that suits his or her ability. Riding along the Mascota River, you’ll pass through quaint little villages, viewing local scenery and vegetation. Wear a swimsuit under your riding clothes because if conditions permit, you may enjoy a swim on horseback or relax at the hot springs. Then you’ll head back to the hacienda to explore before you rejoin the transportation back to your ship Note: Participants must be at least 12 years of age, weigh no more than 220 lbs. and in good physical condition. Wear long pants and sturdy, closed-toe shoes. During certain times of the year, the river rises and forces the tour to follow the mountain trail, cancelling the swim. Enjoy a day at Atlantis Dolphin Cay, one of the world's newest and largest marine habitats. Wade into waist-deep waters and come face to face with your new Sea Lion friends. Here, you'll kiss, touch and hug them as they show off their playful side through some of their favorite behaviors. Your friendly interaction begins with an orientation and includes 30-minutes in the water. Next, continue to Aquaventure, the only water park of its kind in the world. This 141-acre aqua-adventure features the Power Tower and Mayan Temple offering eight high-speed body and inner tube slides, numerous children's water play activities, relaxing pools, beautiful white-sand beaches, and a mile-long action river ride that you won't want to miss! Experience white water rapids, rolling waves, gentle currents, themed caves and never-before-seen special effects as you float along in a single or double tube. Note: Participants must be at least 4 years of age. Bring your swimsuit. For children under 10 years of age, a parent or appointed guardian must participate in the program. Children must be able to comprehend and follow instructions. Wet suits, personal lockers, beach towels, will be provided for your interaction program. Wetsuits are mandatory for the Sea Lion portion of the tour. There is a considerable amount of walking on this tour (approximately 0.4 miles). Due to the amount of walking, numerous steps and inclines, the Aquaventure tour is not recommended for the physically challenged guests or pregnant women. Sandals or ‘aqua socks’ are strongly recommended for children of all ages. Non-motorized water sports are available for rent. Guests should bring a credit card for drink and food purchases. This tour is non-refundable. The duration of this tour includes transportation to and from the pier by bus, approximately 25-minutes each way depending on traffic conditions. Guests participating on an Atlantis Shore Excursion must arrive at the place and time stated on the Shore Excursion ticket. Atlantis tour tickets will not be honored at the resort. The last transfer back to the ship will be one hour before sailing time. This tour is not available on the Norwegian Sky and Norwegian Epic. To ensure availability, dolphin excursions must be booked no later than 24 hours prior to the port call. Last minute sales will not be available. less
