Panama Canal Cruises: Excursions

This tour provides an outstanding overview of the state's capital city and its scenic attractions, including one of the world's only drive-to glaciers, the Mendenhall. Your guided tour takes you through Juneau's picturesque downtown. Visit the Mendenhall Glacier, a moving river of ice with rugged crevasses and a distinctive blue color. Stroll the walkways to the Visitor Center and take in one of the glaciology exhibits, an interpretive talk with a Forest Service Ranger, or simply enjoy the panoramic view of the glacier. Afterward, you'llo visit Juneau's Macaulay Salmon Hatchery and Visitor Center. Note: This tour operates under a special use permit issued by the U.S. Forest Service. Ride the historic White Pass and Yukon Route Railroad Railway and traverse the Yukon Suspension Bridge for a true Alaskan adventure. From an antique parlor car enjoy the spectacular scenery while your tour guide shares the stories and history of the Klondike Gold Rush with you. Upon arrival in Fraser, British Columbia board your motorcoach for the short ride to Tutshi Canyon. Thrill to the roaring white-water rapids of the Tutshi River and canyon views as you cross the swaying Yukon Suspension Bridge on foot.

Visit the interpretive areas with lively graphic panels that reveal the natural and human history of the area. Tagish First Nation Staff and Elders are onsite and available to answer questions. There’s also a gift shop with authentic items and art from First Nations Communities. Board your motorcoach for the journey down the west side of the White Pass Canyon back to Skagway. You’ll see picturesque points such as Tormented Valley and Pitchfork Falls as your drive/guide shares stories of the stampeders who trekked through the pass in search of gold.

Your experience begins with a 25-minute bus transfer to the Atlantis Resort at Paradise Island. Upon arrival, you’ll be escorted to a reserved location on the beach where you’ll be provided a beach lounge chair and towel to bask in the sun and a self-guided map which will help you find your way around the resort. You can enjoy shopping at a variety of unique stores, gaming in the Atlantis Casino or visit the Dig, a unique marine habitat that is home to more than 50,000 marine life. Water bikes, peddle boats, kayaks, water hammocks and snorkeling equipment are all available for an additional charge. Note: Participants ages 3 or younger receive free admission if accompanied by a participating paying adult (parent or guardian at least 18 years of age). There is a considerable amount of walking on this tour (approximately 0.4 miles). Complimentary guided tours are available at the Discover Atlantis kiosk throughout the day. This tour does not include the use of the swimming pools, water slides, pool deck and pool lounge chairs, as these areas are exclusive to hotel guests. The Atlantis Resort uses a cashless system at many of its outdoor food and beverage venues located near the beach area. Guests should bring a credit card to use at these locations. Cash venues are very limited. Transportation for this tour is by bus, there is approximately 25 minutes each way depending on traffic conditions. Guests participating on an Atlantis Shore Excursion must arrive at the place and time stated on the Shore Excursion ticket. Atlantis tour tickets will not be honored at the resort. This tour is not available for the Norwegian Epic and Norwegian Sun. The last transfer back to the ship will be one hour before sailing time. less

Experience an unforgettable journey along the eastern side of White Pass aboard the world famous narrow gauge White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad, built more than 100 years ago through some of the North's most rugged terrain. Board a comfortable, vintage rail car and retrace the original route beyond the summit of White Pass at 2,865 feet through breathtaking scenery. Upon reaching Fraser, British Columbia, you’ll board a motor coach for the journey down the west side of White Pass Canyon as you hear about Tormented Valley and Pitchfork Falls.

Stop at historic Liarsville, a gold rush trail camp located at the foot of the White Pass and nestled beside a waterfall. The camp was named for the journalists whose reports on the Klondike Gold Rush included tall tales of the prospectors’ exploits. Browse the authentic camp exhibits, including antiques and garments left behind. A cast of sourdoughs and dance hall girls will entertain you with a hilarious melodrama and a poem. You’ll then be set free in the Liarsville gold fields, where you are guaranteed to find some gold of your own! Enjoy a snack, shop for souvenirs or have your photo taken with a dance hall girl or the camp’s sled dog mascot, Denali.

Your dolphin encounter in Roatan takes place in a natural setting that resembles a Tahitian island village. The resort is laid out on two small keys, one of which is the private home to a large family of Atlantic bottlenose dolphins. You’ll travel across the resort's lagoon to Bailey’s Key where your encounter will begin with a brief orientation at a beachfront cabana. Following the orientation, you'll walk along a white sandy beach to into gin-clear, waist-deep Caribbean waters and join trained naturalists, where you'll receive a personal introduction to a resident dolphin. The trainer will describe the dolphins’ characteristics, anatomy and behaviors and give you the opportunity to touch, kiss and play with a member of this friendly family of marine mammals. During the session you'll have excellent photo opportunities in addition to professional photographs that will be taken of you and your new friends.
