Las Caletas was once the private home of the famous film director John Huston, who considered it one of the most beautiful places in the world. Today, Las Caletas is an exclusive tropical beach hideaway where you can enjoy an extraordinary day of sun, fun, and adventure. This lovely beach was named by Trip Advisor as one of the top 4 secluded beaches in the World for 2012. Only accessible by sea, this well-secluded nature preserve stands out against a steep, jungle-clad backdrop of tropical forest in an isolated cove on the southern shores of Banderas Bay. As you cruise towards this tropical paradise aboard a first-class catamaran, you'll enjoy the most fantastic coastal scenery that Puerto Vallarta has to offer. Once arriving at Las Caletas, you can choose between pure relaxation or gentle exploration in the unspoiled natural setting of this tropical beach hideaway. If relaxing is on your personal agenda, you can kick-back on the beach, relax in the shade on a comfortable hammock, or indulge in a therapeutic body massage or facial at the hilltop Spa (additional charge). As you relax and unwind, the gentle lapping of the surf on the private golden beach beckons you to take a closer look at the calm, clear waters of this isolated cove. Throughout the day, bilingual eco-guides offer snorkeling and kayaking tours giving everyone a chance to explore in a fun and relaxed way. On land, you can take a Paella cooking lesson, discover the prolific flora and bird life on a free guided nature walk through the jungle, orchid gardens and interactive parrot center. For the youngest explorers (4-11) there is the kid’s adventure camp with zip lines, a climbing wall, animal encounters and an exciting donkey ride. Note: Tour includes moderate walking on uneven surfaces and numerous steps. Please wear your swimsuit underneath comfortable clothing and bring sunscreen, a hat and a towel. less

A 37-mile drive along the Western Highway brings you to the Caves Branch River and its winding path, through the Maya Mountains and numerous ancient caves once inhabited by the Maya. Upon arrival at Caves Branch National Park, your headquarters for the day, your guide will issue floats and headlamps while providing a tour briefing. You’ll take a 45-minute hike down a jungle trail where your guide will point out various plants, roots and herbs once used by the ancient Maya for medicinal purposes. Next, reach the entrance tunnel that heads into the underground cave system for the start of an eye-opening adventure. Then, float with gentle currents through the cave system. Enjoy intricate crystalline formations that line the caves, and the majestic rise and fall of stalagmites and stalactites that add to the serene opulence of nature. On several occasions, you’ll emerge into the sunlight, only to enter into another cave system. Finally, your tubing tour will end where the hike began. You’ll return your equipment and head back to Belize City and the ship. On your way back to the docks a stop will be made for lunch. Note: Participants must be at least 10 years of age and able to swim. The cave system and its waterways may cause claustrophobia in a very small percentage of guests. Be prepared to be amazed by this adventure that puts you up close and personal with the unique phenomenon of crystal caves. Once you’re provided with your life vest, helmet and head lamp, you’ll begin your short hike, with tube in hand, to the secluded entrance of one of the intriguing caves. Your journey begins as you float into a chamber where high ceilings and a stalactite lined wall give the feeling of a cathedral. As you paddle through the cavern, you are dwarfed by boulders rising up from the river, inviting you to explore further. Crystal encrusted cave formations dazzle you with their beauty as you meander up the river. But this is just a taste of what’s to come. As you disembark your tube and enter the crystal chamber to explore the sacred underworld of the Maya, your guide will reveal hidden pottery dating back to 300-900 AD used by the Maya in ancient sacrificial ceremonies. Be prepared as your hike takes you through a tiny passage and you emerge beside a spectacular coral reef like formation encrusted in sparkling shimmer. A 'frozen water fall' column and glittering rim stone dam are just a few more of the amazing formations you’ll encounter in this Gothic chamber. Back in your tube, you’ll make your way to an underground lagoon boarded by a mini waterfall, which signals the end of your subterranean adventure. Don’t forget to visit our photo desks to buy your memories from photographers who captured spectacular shots of you on your adventure. Sip on local beer or munch on a tasty snack at the snack bar as you reflect on the expedition you just experienced.
