Panama Canal Cruises: Excursions

Depart the pier to La Popa Monastery, located on top of a hill overlooking Cartagena. This monastery was built at the beginning of the 17th century and houses a Colonial museum and a chapel dedicated to Virgen de la Candelaria, patron saint of Cartagena. Next, make a photo stop at San Felipe Fortress. This castle defended the city from many attacks and withstood the bloodiest assault from the British Admiral Vernon. Then, proceed to the Old City where you’ll walk approximately five blocks in the Colonial part of the city. Once at Bolivar Plaza, you’ll find Saint Peter Claver Church, the cathedral and the Inquisition Palace. After your walk, drive through the modern part of the city to a rest stop at the Pierino Gallo Plaza, for refreshments and some shopping. Afterwards, you’ll visit Pastelillo Fort, constructed in the mid 1700's. This is home to one of the most exclusive restaurants in town, Club de Pesca. Located in a corner of the 300 year old fortress, the restaurant overlooks Cartagena's marina and has a view of the walled city. At this elegant setting, take in the surroundings while enjoying a delicious Caribbean appetizer with a contemporary touch. Note: Bring comfortable clothing and shoes. less

From the Anthony’s Key dock you'll be taken to Bailey's Key for a top-side orientation and Q&A session to learn about diving etiquette with the dolphins. Next, a five minute boat ride will take you to a beautiful reef wall where you'll descend to a white sand bottom at a depth of 60 feet, and then two or three naturally curious dolphins arrive and are free to interact with you as they choose. In this unstructured dive, the complexities of the dolphins’ relationships and communication are revealed as you spend 45 minutes, observing, photographing and playing with the dolphins in the open ocean. These dives are limited to a small group of divers who are accompanied by a dive guide, dolphin behaviorist and video photographer. Note: Participants must be certified as an Open Water Diver. Total time in the water is approximately 45 minutes. Due to restrictions by the Dive Provider, any Scuba participants currently taking any medication or with a previous medical condition should bring a note from their primary physician stating that they are medically cleared to participate on a Scuba excursion. less

The real adventure lies on the white river as you enjoy her many moods, which will bring you to challenging rapids and enchanting lagoons. As you disembark the River back at the White River Valley property you will have a garden paradise to enjoy. Visit the property’s facilities nestled within the architecture of a traditional Jamaican village. Be sure to stop by the Parrot Bar and Grill to indulge in some of our traditional Jamaican Jerk cuisine, refresh yourself with a cool drink, and browse the Valley Trader gift shop before leaving for Dunn's River Falls. Dunn's River cascades its splendor 600 feet down the Jamaican Mountainside to the Caribbean Sea below. Be adventurous and climb the falls with the assistance of an experienced guide. Or, if you prefer, relax in one of the many pools at the base of the waterfall, swim out in the blue Caribbean Sea and let the salty water soak your cares away; or bask in the sun on the white sand beach before returning to your cruise ship. Note: Participants must be at least 6 years of age and weigh no more than 265 lbs. Not recommended for guests with back or neck injuries or pregnant women. Enjoy a full day of water fun at Atlantis! Explore the new Dolphin Cay and play with dolphins in one of the newest and largest dolphin habitats in the world and home to the world-famous 'Katrina' dolphins. This program includes a video orientation and a trainer talk, complimentary wet suit, natural fruit, infused water, personal locker, towels, beach service, and all-day access to Dolphin Cay’s private beach. Wetsuits are mandatory at Dolphin Cay. Due to the amount of walking, numerous steps and inclines, the Aquaventure tour is not recommended for the physically challenged or for pregnant women. There is a considerable amount of walking on this tour (approximately 0.4 miles). Sandals or ‘aqua socks’ are strongly recommended for children of all ages. Non-motorized water sports are available for rent. Guests should bring a credit card for drink and food purchases. This tour is non-refundable. The transportation for this tour is by bus, approximately 25-minutes each way depending on traffic conditions. Guests participating on an Atlantis Shore Excursion must arrive at the place and time stated on the Shore Excursion ticket. Atlantis tour tickets will not be honored at the resort. Prices may vary per sailing date. This tour is not available for the N. Epic and N. Sun. The last transfer back to the ship will be one hour before sailing time.
