This adventure tour takes place in the Guacalillo Estuary on the Tarcoles River that forms the northern border of the Carara Biological Reserve. It’s home to one of the world’s largest crocodile populations in the world with individuals up to 20 feet long that can live up to 60 years. In addition to the crocodiles, over 50 different bird species might be seen on site. The Guacalillo Estuary famous for its mangrove forests, is one of the nesting sites of the very rare scarlet macaw and a great variety of resident and migrant waterfowls, iguanas and Jesus Christ lizards. Your adventure begins with a one hour ride on coastal and countryside roads, passing small towns en route to the premises of the Jungle Crocodile Safari created by the veterinarian Mr. Mario Orjuela in 1993. Using catamaran-style boats, you’ll be able to observe these wild animals from a safe distance. A delicious tropical fruit buffet will be waiting for you at your return with tropical fruit drinks and coffee. Ample time for purchasing crafts made by local artisans will be given. Note: At the beginning of the Tarcoles exploration, you’ll receive a free bird guide for you to be able to identify the birds that you might see. Wear comfortable shoes, long pants, a hat, sunscreen and bring sunglasses, a light jacket/raingear and insect repellent. Walking is over cemented and gravel trails. Advance notice is needed for guest in wheelchairs. Motorized scooters cannot be handled, only foldable wheelchairs. less

Your tour begins upon an air-conditioned sightseeing bus with a knowledgeable driver guide who will regale you with details and anecdotes about the sights you encounter. Drive through the heart of downtown known as Rawson Square. Here you’ll see the House of Parlaiment, Supreme Court, Public Library and other historical buildings central to the life of The Bahamas and its people. Your next stop is Ardastra Gardens, Zoo and Conservation Center, a peaceful retreat, to enjoy over four acres of lush tropical gardens and over 200 birds, reptiles and mammals. The Ardastra Gardens is home to a collection of endangered land animals and features the Bahamas National Bird, the beautiful and exotic Caribbean Flamingo.
You’ll participate in the “Flamingo Experience”, a unique show of the glory and antics of these incredible creatures together with an excellent narration of their story. You’ll also hand-feed the colourful and playful South Pacific Lory Parrots and have numerous photographic opportunities with “Toby” the Cockatoo, “Jackie” the Snake and “Freddy” the Peacock. While walking the Gardens, friendly and informed staff will answer questions while two-legged feathered friends will freely entertain. Enjoy a cool beverage from the Parrot Pit Stop and browse through our eclectic gift shop, Toby's Treasures. Your transport from the time of pick-up until drop-off at Ardastra is fully narrated, giving you an inside look at Bahamian culture.

Huatulco’s surrounding communities are no exceptions if you want to take a piece of Mexico back home! Begin your tour in the small town named Piedra de Moros, where you’ll visit the medicinal plants and herbs. Receive a brief explanation of their names and which diseases they can cure. Taste a refreshing tea of lemon herb and see the traditional way of making "tortillas" and bread. Learn the use of "Nopal" (Cactus) and sample all these traditional Mexican products. Your next stop will be Santa Maria, here you’ll visit its beautiful church that was built on the 17th Century. Visit local blacksmith's artisanal shop with more than a century old, and where nowadays working tools are made with recycled materials. Then, stop by a Rustic Mezcal Factory where the elaborated process of distillation of this traditional Oaxaca´s beverage will be shown as well as the different uses of the "Maguey" plant. Return to your ship with memories of real lifestyles of Mexican Communities. Note: Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Guest must be in good health. Departing from the pier, begin with a scenic drive around the Old Town, which offers magnificent views of the medieval city walls. See the watch-towers, graceful spires, and winding, cobblestone streets. Visit the Russian Orthodox Church inaugurated in 1900 and filled with a stunning array of superb icons. View the exterior of the castle, now the seat of Estonia’s parliament. Built on a cliff, the Upper Town provides a superb vantage point from which to view the red gabled roofs and spires of Lower Town. Your tour continues down both Long and Short Leg Streets to the Lower Town. See the apothecary, which opened in 1422, the Great Guild House, Blackheads Brotherhood House and the 15th century Gothic Town Hall. Enjoy some free time on the grounds of the Dominican convent at a colorful market and St. Catherine’s Arts and Crafts Center, before rejoining your coach and returning to the pier. Enjoy your day in Costa Maya sailing and snorkeling in the Caribbean waters. Your bilingual guides will meet you at the pier and accompany you to the catamaran waiting at the Fisherman’s Pier. Along the way your guides will inform you of the safety procedures, so you may have the most adventurous time, while under the watchful eye of PADI certified rescue diver guides. You’ll wear a proper life vest for your safety. Upon arrival, dive into the Caribbean waters to explore the colorful undersea life. You’ll see jacks, snappers, colorful angelfish or queen triggerfish abound. A lazy turtle or curious grouper are not rare to find. This is the right way to start your Costa Maya exploration. After an approximate 45 minutes of snorkeling, return to your catamaran and sail back along the scenic coast. Note: Participants must be at least 8 years of age. This tour is not suitable for pregnant women, persons with back or neck injuries. Strict health restrictions apply for snorkeling activity. At the end of the tour you’ll have the opportunity to be dropped off in town or return directly to your ship. If staying in town, the return trip back to the ship is on your own. less

Discover Costa Maya on a custom-made Dune Buggy just as Joe-cool used in the late 60’s. These brand new beach buggies are the best way to experience Costa Maya as you drive down the coastline to your beach getaway. Your experienced guides will give a safety briefing before jumping into your buggy. Then, your first stop will be at the Fisherman’s village where everyone will stare as you cruise on by. Keep your eyes open for the rare birds and resident iguanas. Once you go off-road you’ll end at a secluded beach. Kick back on a hammock, enjoy a complimentary snack and soft drink, go for a swim in the Caribbean Sea, play a game of beach volleyball, take in the rays or stroll down the virgin beach. After the beach, it is time to head on home so get ready to drive back. Note: Participants must be at least 21 years of age and present a valid driver’s license to drive. All Buggies are stick shift. This tour is not recommended for pregnant women or guests with heart, respiratory or back conditions. Vehicles accommodate up to four participants and you may be paired up with others. less

A very fast paced, but rewarding day awaits. This ultimate scenic tour includes the most spectacular sites along the Campanian coast, including Pompeii, possibly the most famous excavation in the world. Start with a fast-boat ride to Marina Grande in Capri, a port lined with colorful old fishermen’s houses. A funicular will take you up to a terrace with a marvelous scenic overlook of the small island, the coast and the sparkling sea. Walk to the piazzetta, the heart of Capri’s shopping and nightlife. You’ll visit Augustus Gardens with your guide, or if you prefer, explore the narrow streets, take in the magnificent views, or relax at an outdoor cafe. You’ll then continue to Sorrento by jet-foil where lunch awaits. After lunch, you’ll have some time to wander the flower-filled streets or admire the high-quality handicrafts for which Sorrento is famous. Head to Pompeii where you’ll enter by the sea gate and visit the city’s baths, villas, theaters and wrestling grounds. Because Pompeii is so well preserved, you can see many fine details that reveal the lifestyles of the residents, such as mosaic floors and colorful frescoes in some of the homes. Time permitting, visit a cameo factory near Pompeii and browse handmade jewelry. Note: Tour is not available for winter sailings. During summer months expect extreme heat, crowded venues and very long lines at the funicular. We recommend that you dress in layers and bring bottled water. Tour may operate in reverse order. less

Start your 'magical family adventure' in the world’s most beautiful dolphinarium. Located just a short walk from Cozumel’s shopping area, it’s the only place in all the Caribbean where you can interact with dolphins for approximately 40 minutes in the safety of a calm ocean cove. Before entering the water, each participant is briefed by one of our knowledgeable and professional trainers about the dolphins’ behavior as well as the basic guidelines of the program. This program is conducted on a submerged platform and is a very hands-on program, allowing you, in a controlled and safe setting to get an up close and personal anatomy lesson on dolphins as well as learning about their different behaviors. You’ll be able to touch their velvety soft skin, listen to them sing and watch them play. You’ll also receive a kiss and a friendly fin shake. The facility is also home to many other forms of marine and fish life, which can be viewed with safety and ease. Snorkeling after the program is available. Note: Participants must be at least 5 years of age. Time in the water with the dolphins is approximately 40 minutes. Although quick paced with a substantial amount of walking and climbing, your day will be extremely rewarding. See the highlights of Florence, including Michelangelo’s David and climb to the top of Pisa’s famous leaning tower. You’ll arrive at Piazzale Michelangelo to enjoy the wonderful panorama of Florence from this unique terrace. In the historical center of Florence you will begin your walking tour. Visit the Galleria Dell'Accademia, where you’ll see Michelangelo’s masterpiece: the original statue of David. Visit Piazza del Duomo, the religious center of Florence in front of the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, the Piazza della Signoria and walk to the Ponte Vecchio for a photo opportunity. You’ll have free time for lunch on your own and shopping. Meet back at your bus and head to Pisa where you'll join your guide for a climb up the 294 steps of the world-famous Leaning Tower. In Miracle Square you will view the Cathedral and Baptistery from the outside and enjoy some free time for photo opportunities or shopping. Note: Participants must be at least 8 years of age to climb the Tower. No bags are allowed for the Tower visit for security reasons. Even though the tower has reopened to the public, Italian authorities have strict limitations on the amount of persons allowed in per hour/day. The walking distance between the Field of Miracles in Pisa, and the bus parking area is approximately 15 minutes each way. Please note that on public holidays, most major stores will be closed; however, most leather and souvenir shops will be open. Guests who are planning to visit religious sites during free time or on tour, please dress appropriately; no bare shoulders or shorts are allowed. The walking tour in Florence will cover approximately 3 miles. Due to the intensity of this tour, we do not recommend this excursion for guests with walking difficulties. The Galleria Dell’Accademia is closed on Mondays; this tour will not be available for guests on the Norwegian Spirit May 11th, 2013 and September 20th, 2013 sailings. less

Explore New Providence Island on a 4 x 4 vehicle. You’ll be given an orientation of your shared 4WD vehicle. There are four guests to each vehicle, perfect for you and your friends. Take turns driving and navigating through traffic or one person can do all the driving. Listen to your lead guide’s narration though your onboard walkie-talkie while you drive into the island’s interior. Pass through the typical countryside; here you’ll see the island in your own unique style. See one of the old Colonial forts and other historical and architectural buildings. Your guide will also point out homes of the famous and infamous that lived on the island. Then, visit a local beach to relax or swim before caravanning through the countryside back to the staging area. You’ll then walk back at your leisure through town back to the pier. Note: Drivers must be at least 25 years of age and provide a valid driver’s license. This is a self-driven tour with a guide. Children under 8 years of age must use a child seat which must be pre-reserved in advance; visit our Shore Excursion Desk onboard for more details. Bring a towel and sunscreen.
