Depart from London and our first stop is Vigo, a town of ancient Roman fortresses and holy shrines. Not far from port, visit the magnificent Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. Christian pilgrims have been coming to this impressive church since the Middle Ages to visit the tomb of St. James, an apostle of Jesus. Upon our arrival to Lisbon, listen close for the lovely fado singers crooning from street side cafes. This is a capital city with ancient sites on every hillside, including the amazing Castle of São Jorge, all the way at the top. When you see the sweeping views, you’ll see why everyone from the Romans onward used it as military stronghold. Today, flower-potted porches welcome visitors from around the world to stroll this commanding capital city.
