Universally we were greeted by friendly smiles who answered all of our questions (Erin especially was so helpful and assisted my wife in getting a necklace like hers). Darlene was a an excellent bartender who settled us down too after we were waiting for our cabin. We enjoyed all of our meals, with Michelle and Astrid's assistance. One meal was super memorable meal was at Moderno, a Brazilian restaurant where the meal, which was well paced and truly the most delicious meat imaginable was served. The Filet Mignon was so tender, it melted in your mouth. This was a fabulous cruise and our steward, Catalina celebrated our 40th anniversary with matching swan towels with mints. The entertainment was exceptional with the Oh What A Night Tribute group, the ship singers and dancers in the Hooray for Hollywood show.and the comedian and magician were good too! We really enjoyed the piano playing gentleman that played Peter Allen for us. The excursions were excellent too. We enjoyed all of them. In addition, we utilized the Hoppa- On Hoppa Off Tour Bus in Hilo and were able to book a tour for the Japanese Gardens, Rainbow Falls, and beach as well as city zoo. In Kawaii, we were able to use Trolley Stop Tours & saw some more falls, beach and Episcopal Church. We will be returning to NCL in the future!
hawaii - oh what a cruise
Living in Waikiki we thought it would be hard to find a good cruise without a long flight, but we were wrong. The 7 day Hawaii cruise was just wonderful. We overnighted at two locations, which gave much time to explore the state. On the last day we left port early enough to truly enjoy the coast of Kauai, such a remarkable sight could never be seen unless you paid for a helicopter ride. I will say don't take the reviews of the excursions too seriously. We almost didn't book the Norwegian glass bottom boat cruise because of a review, but I am so glad we did. The fish we saw were colorful and plenty (I even saw an elusive eel). The excursion was so worth it and the staff so knowledgeable. Take this cruise and do as much or as little as you choose - cruise like a Norwegian!
Hawaiian Cruise-tour Feb Mar 2014 "Fantastic"
We have just returned from our cruise on the Pride of America. Prior to the cruise we took the 3 day cruise tour of Honolulu. This was a perfect choice for us as first time visitors. We were shown many of the main attractions of the island, from Pearl Harbor to the rain forest and the beaches. It was a full schedule of sightseeing. The highlight for us was the Kualoa Ranch. This tropical paradise is used as a movie set for may well known films and TV shows. We were treated to a boat ride and lunch on a private "secret" island beach. The cruise-tour is well organized and allows for a carefree experience of the attractions. The Marriott Hotel included in the package was very nice. The location couldn't be better. You are steps away from the beach and shops at Waikiki. I would recommend this package to anyone visiting Hawaii for the first time. Great value considering how much you see on the tour.
