awesome trip! Kayaking in Grand Stirrup Cay to a private beach where the guides showed us sea urchins and sting rays. Climbing the waterfall at Ocho Rios was a life changing adventure which topped swimming with dolphins that morning! A beach day at Grand Cayman under soft pine trees. It started to rain just as we were leaving. Perfect! A visit to Margaritaville was not to be missed. In Cozumel we crewed the Stars and Stripes in a Regatta and bought the most amazing jewelry in an out of the way plaza. The store owner toasted us with tequilla after the purchase, "arriba, abajo, el centro el dentro!"
I traveled with my parents (70 years old persons) and an uncle (84 year old) on december 2013. It was the first time we went in a cruise ship and we were full of expectations, including some fears. The check-in, despite of the great number of passengers, was very fast and well done. The ship is beautiful, clean and very well decorated. The furniture, carpets, photos and paintings are spectacular. We entered our staterooms and realized that they're not small as we were told. The beds are confortable and none of my old travel mates complained. The food was excelent and there were dishes for all tastes, we just didn't see beans as made in Brazil, but we did not miss it as there were so many different options to choose (lol) There were so many things to do in the ship. Unfortunatelly lacked to me time and strenght. I don't find words to describe the ship's crew: kindly, amiable, gentle, sweet. I talked to some of them, people from so many countries as Philippines, Germany, Serbia, South Africa, USA, Indonesia, Colombia and they had one thing in common: the courtesy and sympathy. The trip started and we met some of the most beaultiful places I've ever seen. The Great Stirrup Cay (Bahamas) is a very pleasant private isle. Grand Cayman and Cozumel are certainly a piece of heaven on earth. Regarding to shore excursions I strongly recommend Dolphins and stingrays (Cayman) and Tulum Mayan Ruins (Cozumel). They're experiences I'll never forget. The only place I DO NOT recomend is Ocho Rios (Jamaica). The nature is awesome but if you intend to go shopping be aware there are dishonest sellers. We went to a store named DIAMONDS FOREVER - JEWEL PALACE in shopping center called TAJMAHAL in which my parents bought some watches and a ring. The place is allegedly to be a duty free but after the trip, when I arrived in USA I realized that the value paid for watches was at least the double of what would be fair. So, we learn that "Duty Free" doesn't mean "Crook Free". If NCL exclude Ocho Rios from the destination and include Cancun or Punta Cana it would definitely bring much more passengers In conclusion, considering the checks and balances, we enjoyed our experience so much we are already planing next trip. We certainly will consider other cruise companies because of destinations but NCL definitely has gained many points in our rating by their professionalism and quality of ships and crew.
