Enjoy the awesome natural beauty of the rain forest, a jungle river and caves once used by the ancient Mayans who inhabited this region. Depart the ship on a high-speed open motor boat for the Sibun River where you‘ll wind your way up stream through the jungle covered banks, a sight directly from an Indiana Jones movie. After 45 minute, you’ll arrive at the landing - a secluded farm by the river. Enjoy a short break and become familiar with the the 4x4 Land Rover, which will take you on the next leg of your journey to the Mayan grotto Caves. The Land Rover (manual/stick-shift gearbox) is the perfect vehicle for the 50-minute drive through the jungle trails to base camp at Gracy Rock. Your guides will share their local knowledge with you, as they lead you over a foot suspension bridge across the river.
After a short walk through the dense rainforest, you’ll arrive at the starting point of your cave experience. The first cave tunnels through and emerges into a tropical bowl with cliffs on all sides. There are many caves to explore, each with different stages of stalactite and stalagmite growth. After about an hour caving, you’ll return to base camp at Gracy Rock and have an opportunity to relax, enjoy the complimentary bottled water and rum punch together with a snack of fresh local fruit before boarding the Jungle Bus for the return trip to Belize City.
