Hiking in Forillon National Park

This challenging, 3.5-mile trail leads hikers through magnificent mountains populated by black bears, porcupines, beavers and many species of birds. A visit to Forillon National Park is sure to be a unique adventure. You’ll be impressed by the magnificent scenery of sea and cliffs along the Mont St-Alban Hiking Trail, which forms a loop. This challenging trail ascends rather steeply (approximately 312 yards) over the first few miles (km). It takes you up to an observation tower which is located 310 yards (283 meters) above sea level. From the observation tower, it’s easy to appreciate the majestic beauty of Forillon with its mountain ridge culminating in soaring cliffs that drop steeply into the waters of the Gulf. The panoramic view makes all the effort worthwhile! Extend your trip by taking a short cut into the past at the Grande-Grave Heritage Site and discover the fascinating history of the cod trading companies. Note: Participants must be in good health. This is a difficult hike on uneven ground which involves climbing a steep walking trail with a 312-yard ascent (285 meters) for approximately 3.5 miles (5.7 km). We recommend that you wear sturdy shoes or hiking boots (no sandals) and appropriate outdoor clothing. Rain gear is suggested.
