Rising over 10,000 feet from sea level, Haleakala is renowned for its raw beauty and unique scenery. At the summit, some 10,000 feet above sea level, is a vast crater, the size of Manhattan. You'll marvel at the crater's eerie lunar-like landscape of cinder cones and ancient lava formations. The view is absolutely amazing and the sunset is beautiful. On clear days, you'll enjoy views of Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea in the distance. Note: We recommend you wear comfortable clothing and bring a sweater as temperature ranges from 40-65 degrees Fahrenheit. We do not guarantee weather will permit viewing sunset.
