Best of Tenerife

Lovely towns, colonial mansions and breathtaking landscapes are some of the highlights of this tour. Walk the historic streets of one of the most interesting and prettiest villages of the island and reward your senses with views of fertile valleys, majestic mountains and unusual rock formations. Start your day with a scenic drive through La Esperanza Forest, with its cool eucalyptus vegetation and tantalizing glimpses of Mount Teide. After a photo stop on the way, you arrive at El Portillo, where you’ll enjoy a short coffee break. Continue to Las Cañadas del Teide, declared a National Park in 1954. Las Cañadas covers an area of 13,571 hectares and is in fact the interior crater of the mountain from which the majestic peak of Mount Teide emerges. The park covers an area of 18.900 hectares and was named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2007. From the nearby Ucanca Valley, you’ll appreciate the stark wilderness of the lava fields. Take home some pictures of the unusual formations of the Roques de Garcia, before heading to the Orotava dale. Visit the historic quarter rich in history and stunning architecture. Cobblestone streets flanked by stately Colonial mansions with its characteristic wood-carved balconies are just some of the sights that unfold as you walk the ancient streets. From here your journey continues to Puerto de la Cruz, a favorite spot for visitors for many years. Here you’ll have approximately two hours of free time for lunch, shopping or your activity of choice before heading back to the harbor. The drive back affords different views of the island. Note: This tour is not recommended for guests with heart or respiratory problems, as you will ascend to an altitude of approximately 7,200 feet (over 2,200 meters). We recommend that you bring sunglasses, and proper sun protection. Tour involves approximately 2.5 miles of walking and 15 to 25 steps (no wheelchair access). This tour is not available for the December 12, 2011 and the March 16, 2012 sailings.
