Come fish with the eagles amidst the pristine beauty of Chilkoot Lake – offering some of the best fishing in Alaska with four salmon runs a year from June through October. The lake is home to four of five salmon species, as well as Dolly Varden, cutthroat and steelhead trout. The salmon average 5 lbs. to 15 lbs. depending on species and the Dolly Varden are plentiful. Your adventure begins aboard a high-speed catamaran for a scenic cruise along North America's longest and deepest fjord to Haines. Enjoy spectacular views as your ship’s host provides informative commentary on native culture, historical landmarks, natural history and points out the marine wildlife such as seals, sea lions and whales. From Haines, enjoy a scenic 15-minute drive to Chilkoot Lake, one of the most picturesque locations in southeast Alaska.
Board your 30-foot pontoon boat surrounded by majestic mountains, waterfalls, wildlife and all the splendor of this state park. Spin cast rod and reel, tackle, rain gear, snacks, soft drinks and water are provided. Every fisherman is in control of his or her own spin-cast rod and reel. There is a maximum of six guests per boat and the tour operator is the only fishing charter on the lake. Your experienced guide will provide guidance and assist you with everything from techniques to untangling your lines.
