This trip combines a train ride aboard the historic White Pass & Yukon Route Railway with a wilderness snow shoe trek in the stunning alpine zone of the upper reaches of the Tormented Valley. The first leg of your adventure is aboard "The Scenic Railway of the World" for an approximate 1 1/2 hour ride up and over the White Pass Summit. Upon arrival at the trailhead and gearing up, you’re on your way over the snow covered, glacially carved landscape. Along the way, your experienced guide will share information with you about the unique natural history, geography, geology and snow science of the area.
Enjoy wide open views of snowcapped mountains, frozen lakes and the rugged terrain the stampeders endured over 100 years ago. Be on the lookout for wildlife such as bear, moose, mountain goats, wolves and caribou all call this area home. Upon returning to the trailhead enjoy a traditional cooler of “Backcountry Delights". Board your train to Fraser British Columbia for your motorcoach ride down the Klondike Highway back to Skagway. Your hiking guides will be with you the entire trip to share gold rush history and to answer any other questions you may have.
