Seaworld Explorer

Seaworld Explorer is a state-of-the-art semi-submarine developed in Australia for use on the Great Barrier Reef. The vessel does not submerge; you descend into the hull of this cruising underwater observatory and sit in air-conditioned comfort five feet below the surface of the water, exploring sea life through large, clear glass windows. Make your way by coach or by taxi van to the Seaworld Explorer boarding area, from where you embark on a narrated tour of the coral reefs along the south side of the island. Just offshore, from your underwater viewpoint, you can clearly observe a wall dropping sharply to depths of several hundred feet. See dozens of tropical fish, as well as delicate colonies of coral that were thousands of years in the making. Then watch in awe as hungry fish surround a diver who hand-feeds them right in front of your window. A knowledgeable marine expert will provide you with information on the amazing underwater world around you and will be happy to answer questions. Note: Participants must be able to safely navigate steps in and out of the semi-submarine. We recommend that guests who are sensitive to seasickness take medication before going on this tour.
