From the discovery by Jacques Cartier to the colonization, the great fire of 1870, the flood of 1996 as well as other marking events, this fantastic odyssey features the history of the Saguenay Lac St Jean's Kingdom from 1603 to nowadays. This extensive show, larger than life, that brings on the stage 200 local actors and actresses, a host of animals as well as grandiose audio visual techniques. La Fabuleuse has been enjoyed by over one million visitors in its original French version. Exclusively for cruise line guests, an English version has been produced and to make the experience even more memorable, following the show you’ll have the opportunity to view the back stage area before going back to the shuttle service for your return trip to the ship. A shuttle service will be available to provide transportation starting 45 minutes prior to the schedule beginning of the show. Visit the Olivier Soap Museum and Workshop were the aromatic therapeutic properties of pure essential oils, the art of traditional soap making, the science of plants and flowers, and the history of pure olive oil are combined to create extraordinarily mild, biodegradable, long-lasting skin solutions. Then visit the Touverre Workshop. Glass blowing is one of the oldest forms of art and also one of the most difficult to master. The technique was used in Egypt and Syria thousands of years ago.

Nowadays in Saguenay, Guiseppe Benedetto, glass-maker and sculptor, performs this highly sophisticated technique for visitors to his workshop. The glassmaker’s goal is to develop top-of-the-line decorative objects such as whales, blueberries, fruits, lamps, perfumers and more. His creations integrate his art with architecture. Limited-series sculptures incorporate granite, glass, aluminum, bronze or steel contrasts in strength and fragility. You’ll next visit Les Bergeries du Fjord, a quaint little farm where you’ll discover the art of cheese-making. At the barn, learn about the latest methods of milk collection and cheese production. Savor this famous cheese with raspberry wine from a local winery.

Come and let the rhythm of the tide mesmerize you in a sea kayaking excursion. From the pier in La Baie, you’ll enjoy a 45-minute scenic drive to Parc National du Saguenay Interpretation Centre where you’ll be given a safety briefing before boarding your kayak for a 1 1/4-hour journey. As you paddle along Cape Trinity, the most impressive in the fjord with sheer cliffs and sand beaches, you’re sure to fall under the spell of this breathtaking unaltered environment. While on the surface, the beauty of the Saguenay Fjord is striking, these waters also intrigue us as they reveal glimpses of their depths that have long been thought unfathomable. If you’re lucky you may encounter some of the marine life including lazy seals sun tanning on an emerging rocks or a beluga whale frolicking in the water. Previous kayak experience is not necessary. Following your kayak tour you’ll have some free time at the Interpretation Center to enjoy the excellent exhibits of the fjord or shop in the trendy gift shop. With over 120 km of hiking trails, a great way to discover this magnificent yet little known landscape is by foot. From the pier in La Baie, you’ll enjoy a scenic drive to Parc National du Saguenay where you’ll begin your 1 1/2-mile journey along the 'point de vue du soupir' trail. Here you’ll experience first hand and up close the disproportionate scale of time and space in a land where nature has made use of its colossal forces to carve out a fjord. The hike culminates at the halfway point to the statue of Our Lady of Saguenay where you’ll have remarkable views of the Fjord and surrounding mountains, lakes and valleys. The hike will take approximately two hours round trip and is recommended for advanced hikers with a rise in height of 450 feet and 500 steps to climb. Following your hike you’ll have some free time at the Interpretation Center to enjoy the excellent exhibits of the fjord or shop in the trendy gift shop.
