Molokini, a crescent moon-shaped islet located less than three miles off Maui's southern coast, lies along Haleakala's southwest rift zone. This area is known as one of the top ten snorkel sites in the world and home to more than 250 species of fish including surgeonfish, tangs, parrotfish, Moorish idols and more! After snorkeling at Molokini, the boat makes a second stop at Turtle Arches where you can swim, snorkel and may even encounter a Hawaiian green sea turtle! This scenic journey takes you through upcountry Maui to the top of the world's largest dormant volcano, Haleakala. At the summit is a vast crater measuring seven-and-a-half miles long by two and-a-half miles wide. This dormant volcano last erupted in 1790 and imparts a sense of awesome power by virtue of its size alone. Haleakala Crater is a natural wonder and is the highest point on Maui. The views from the top at over 10,000 feet above sea level are magnificent. On a clear day, you'll even enjoy views of Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea. From the rim, you'll be able to appreciate firsthand the unique beauty of this massive crater with its interesting mix of volcanic rock and plant life, some of which, like the silversword plant, is found only in Hawaii's volcanic craters. The day begins with pick-up at 3:30 am via an exclusive 8-passenger luxury limo-van. To capture all the beauty that is the sunrise at Haleakala, we travel directly to Haleakala National Park and the crater summit. Start the day, 'on top of the World', at majestic Pu'u Ula Ula (Red Hill), the pinnacle of Haleakala, at 10,023 feet. Continental breakfast is served, prior to sunrise. 'First light' reveals a pallet of golden pastel hues plus a 360-degree view encompassing the Big Island of Hawaii, West Maui, Lanai, Molokai and beyond. The 'House of the Sun' Visitor's Center offers breathtaking panoramas from the rim of the crater. There are numerous photo opportunities while descending this mountain drive. You'll learn, in-depth, about the native Hawaiian people, their culture and land from an entertaining and knowledgeable tour guide. Complimenting to this invigorating experience is a run-of the menu breakfast at a charming 'upcountry' restaurant. You’ll visit various sites along the way to 'heavenly Hana,' the wonderfully isolated, unspoiled region between the eastern slopes of Haleakala and the Pacific Ocean. Enjoy lunch on your own at Hana Ranch before heading to the Kipahulu District of Haleakala National Park. There you’ll have the chance to photograph the glistening pools formed by several waterfalls cascading down the side of Haleakala. The bike journey starts at an elevation of 6,500 feet. Then following your guide, you’ll gently bike down the 21 switchbacks on the western slopes of the world’s largest resting volcano as your escort van driver follows for your safety. You are welcome to ride in the escort van at any time. Along the way there will be photo stops to capture your Maui moments. You'll visit the Sunrise Market and Protea Flower Farm where you can purchase exotic flowers as well as local foods, sandwiches, salads and beverages.
