This leisure tour highlights the spectacular scenery of Majorca and offers the opportunity to taste local specialties. Leaving the port, you’ll embark on a scenic drive with views of landscapes of pine forests and groves of almond and olive trees, beautiful villages and much more. There will be a couple of stops to take in the magnificent views and snap some memorable pictures. Your final destination and highlight is La Granja de Esporles surrounded by beautiful fountains and lush formal gardens. This superb 17th century Majorcan manor was built by a noble family on the site of a 10th century farm belonging to the monks. You’ll have time to explore on your own the grounds and interior of the house, now a museum illustrating the home-life of two centuries ago. A highlight is the wine cellar, where you’ll sample a local wine and various Majorcan products. Afterward, you’ll return to your ship through the village of Esporles. Note: There is approximately 1 mile of walking on uneven surfaces and rough pathways with 35-40 steps at La Granja. less

Discover some of the most scenic parts of Mallorca and the lovely village of Valldemossa during this picturesque ride on the Soller Railway. Depart the pier for the approximately 50-minute sightseeing drive through Palma, and on to the Son Reus Train Station. Upon arrival, board the historic Soller train. The Soller Railway has been running a daily train service along the 17-mile (27-kilometre) route between Palma de Mallorca and Soller, without interruption, since 1912. Your scenic, 45-minute journey is an enchanting voyage highlighted by beautiful panoramic views of the Mallorcan Mountains, orange groves and small, fairytale-like villages. Pass through 13 tunnels and numerous bridges before arriving at Soller. After some free time in the beautiful village of Soller, board a coach for the drive to Son Marroig. This stunning estate is renowned for its picturesque setting on the slopes of Mallorca’s northern mountain range. You’ll make a photo stop at a lookout which offers spectacular views of the coastline and ‘Foradada’, a locally-renowned rock formation rising from the sea. Leaving Son Marroig, your drive continues on through the rugged northern interior of the island en route to Valldemossa, where a visit is made to the Carthusian Monastery. This 17th-century monastery, also known as ‘Cartuja’, is famous for its beautiful cloisters and gardens. More importantly, it housed two illustrious guests, composer Frédéric Chopin and novelist George Sand, during the winter of 1838-39. A guided tour of the monastery includes the cloisters, the 18th-century pharmacy, the former monks’ cells and the rooms once occupied by the famous couple. Following your visit, some time is made available for browsing the many shoppes at your leisure before re-boarding the coach for the approximately 30-minute drive back to the pier. Note: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking on uneven pathways, with some steps to negotiate at Soller Station and approximately 1/2 mile of walking. The train is not air-conditioned or wheelchair-accessible, and has wooden seats. The train journey is not exclusive to NCL guests. less

Driving along the beautiful seaside promenade, you’ll enjoy the views of the marina filled with luxurious yachts on one side and hotels on the other. You’ll then pass the magnificent cathedral and the Almudaina Palace going to the center of Palma through streets filled with luxurious shops, and Via Roma where the flower market is held under the shade of the plane trees. Continue on towards Santa Maria, admiring the views of the most agricultural part of the island. Your final destination is the well-known cellars of Macia Batle in the village of Santa Maria. Its 250 acres of vineyards are distributed in the denominations of the region with special emphasis on the rare autochthon Majorcan grapes, not leaving out other traditional varieties. By combining these grapes, the results are beautifully composed wines with unforgettable character. The agreeable sun and microclimate of Majorca join with the soft winds of the Mediterranean to guarantee a top quality wine, something that the Romans, keen wine makers, already knew. Discover how such wines are created and enjoy a tasting of different wines with some snacks; an experience for all your senses. Returning to Palma, you’ll make a photo stop at Bellver Castle from where you’ll have a beautiful view over the pier and the city. Note: This tour is not suitable for passengers with wheelchairs or those with walking difficulties as there are 40 steps into the winery. less
