At Butchart Gardens, see how the Butchart family transformed a barren rock quarry into what is now one of the world’s best-known horticultural attractions, covering more than 55 acres. The gardens are a lush paradise of flowers, rare trees and winding paths and were created more than 100 years ago. Enjoy the cascading fountains and footbridges connecting the many themed gardens, including the beautiful Sunken Garden, the Japanese Garden and the Rose Garden. Multi-language maps will assist you on your self-guided tour. As an added bonus, guests sailing on Norwegian Pearl visiting on Saturdays from 7/20/13 thru 8/31/13 will be treated to the Butchart Gardens fireworks display, choreographed to music.

Victoria is the gateway to the Puget Sound, Gulf Islands, and San Juan Islands, and is home to three resident pods of Orca Whales. This tour is designed to take you as up close and personal as permitted with the whales and sea life as they explore their natural feeding grounds along the shores British Columbia’s rugged coastline. You’ll board a motorcoach for a short transfer over to the whale watching vessel departure point. The vessels are equipped with restrooms, and offer covered as well as open viewing locations. As you travel to the viewing location, be sure to enjoy the majesty of the coastline and mountains surrounding you. This area is a playground for many of the world’s wealthiest yacht owners, and multi-million dollar yachts can often be seen cruising through the waters. Departing Ogden Point, your driver/guide will point out Mile Zero, the western end of the Trans Canada Highway, Beacon Hill Park and Thunderbird Park en route to Craigdarroch Castle an outstanding landmark home standing most affluent in a city steeped in heritage. Craigdarroch was built between 1887–1890 by Robert Dunsmuir and boasts a unique collection of residential stained and leaded glass, period furnishing, and excellent wood paneling and carving. Enjoy your self-guided visit in the castle with docents available to answer any questions you may have. After your visit, rejoin your driver/guide returning via Chinatown and welcomed by the Gates of Harmonious Interest. Continue to the inner harbor framed by some of Canada's most recognizable landmarks, the majestic Parliament Buildings aglow in 3,333 light bulbs and the ivy-covered Empress Hotel. At the inner harbor and shopping district you'll be given some free time to take in the local sights and sounds prior to your return journey to the pier and your ship. Note: Must have good mobility and be able to negotiate a gradual uphill walk to the castle and 87 steps to view all four floors of the castle. Referred to as a 'castle', the building is more a stately mansion with castellated features. Victoria is one of the most picturesque cities in North America, and exudes Old World charm and a distinctively British flair. This tour will show you the heart and soul of why so many visitors from around the world come each year to the City of Gardens. Starting at Ogden Point you’ll head into the residential neighborhoods, complete with manicured lawns, abundant flowers of all shapes and sizes, and million dollar views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Olympic Mountain range. Pass some of the highlights of Victoria, including views of Craigdarroch Castle, all that remains of the stately Dunsmuir estate. The tour will conclude at the Inner Harbor, the centerpiece of Victoria. This is the home of the Royal BC Museum, numerous street performers, craft vendors, food stalls, the BC Parliament Buildings, and the world famous Fairmont Empress Hotel. This "reduced environmental footprint" experience will appeal to all of your senses. See Victoria’s highlights, smell the fragrant flowers at Butchart Gardens and tantalize your taste buds with an organic gourmet picnic. While your knowledgeable guide points out some of Victoria’s most interesting sights, you'll travel in comfort aboard a B100 coach fueled by biodiesel, made from recycled waste cooking oil collected from cruise ships visiting Victoria. With views of Beacon Hill Park as well as rolling landscapes and farmland en route, you'll arrive at Canada’s famed National Historic Site, Butchart Gardens. The gardens have been transformed from a lifeless rock quarry to a horticultural masterpiece over 100 years ago. Stroll at your own pace through 55 acres of beautiful blooms and themed gardens.
Upon arrival you'll be directed to your picnic site (the residence lawn) and provided with your wicker basket and gourmet picnic prepared from fresh and locally grown organic produce. You may choose to enjoy your picnic on the lawns (over a ground cover) or at a picnic table. As an added bonus, guests visiting on Saturdays in July and August will be treated to the Butchart Gardens fireworks display, choreographed to music. Norwegian Pearl sailings only. On your return, enjoy a narrated sightseeing tour of Victoria’s downtown area, including Chinatown, the historic Empress Hotel and the picturesque Parliament buildings. Your participation on this excursion will help support the local James Bay Community School, allowing vulnerable families the opportunity for their children to be able to partake in youth getaways & summer sports camps. The city and cruise port of Victoria are steeped in old world charm. With its manicured lawns and impressive displays of gardens and hanging baskets adorning the streets, on this one hour excursion you’ll see why Victoria is nicknamed the “City of Gardens”. At the cruise terminal you’ll board your trolley, drawn by two magnificent draught horses. Get cozy in your seat and feel free to wrap yourself in the provided blanket.
Your journey will take you past the gorgeous historical homes, located between the cruise terminal and the downtown inner harbor. Enjoy the lively narration of your guide as they “giddy up” and “whoa boy” this tour through town! You’ll see the largest park in Victoria, as well as the famous Empress Hotel, and the British Columbia legislative buildings, commonly referred to as the Parliament buildings. Sit back and relax as you’re carried by real horsepower back to the ship.
Note: This is an open-air vehicle and we recommend you bring a jacket. Guests will need to navigate two steps to board the trolley and due to safety concerns, wheel chairs, walkers, strollers and scooters must be left at the departure location.

With beautiful gardens, scenic vistas and the title of “Cycling Capital of Canada,” Victoria is a great place to ride a bike. You'll cycle easily on your Elite Electric Bicycle along some of Victoria’s favorite cycling routes. These aren't your typical bicycles, as the focus is on a safe, easy cycling experience where the "electric" aspect does much of the work for you, while covering much more of the city. Beginning on the Galloping Goose Trail, past the iconic Empress Hotel then coasting around the Inner Harbour, you'll follow the Seaside Cycling Route peddling to Fisherman’s Wharf and James Bay. After visiting the childhood home of Emily Carr, a favorite West Coast artist, Mile “0”, and Beacon Hill Park, enjoy a spin along the Victoria Waterfront. Following a quick stop at a favorite coffee shop, climb easily to Government House, home of the Queen's representative in British Columbia, and admire the panoramic vista and beautiful gardens before cruising back to Departure Station. Your adventure begins via motorcoach as your guide provides a narrated tour, as you pass Victoria's historic Mile 0, Beacon Hill Park, downtown and the busy inner harbor. Once onboard your enclosed 60 ft catamaran, enjoy your cruise along Victoria's picturesque harbor.
Discover the onboard 150 gallon touch tank aquarium that is filled with animals and plants that thrive in these waters, including sea cucumbers, Dungeness crab, starfish and anemones. A marine expert will be on hand to assist in your discovery of this unique ecosystem. Get out your camera for great photo opportunities with these critters on the back deck but watch those pinchers! The vessel has a licensed cash bar as well as complimentary coffee, tea and water while you enjoy your crab dip and chips.
Note: Participants must be at least 21 years of age to consume alcohol. Dungeness Crab is available to purchase on the vessel for an additional $20.00 per crab.
