The mountainside Makalei Golf Course sits in the protective lee of Hualalai Mountain amid a forest of silver oak and ohia, a tree native to Hawaii that thrives in lava rock. Ranging in elevation from 1,950 to 2,850 feet, Makalei is the second-highest golf course in all of Hawaii. Famous for its smooth-rolling bent grass greens and panoramic vistas of the Kona-Kohala coast below, Makalei's terrain requires thoughtful club selection. Still, only four holes are uphill. Seven play downhill, including three stunning par-threes. Note: Greens fees, cart rentals and round-trip transportation to and from the course is included. Tee times at this beautiful professionally-designed course are limited and therefore are non-refundable once booked.
