Description:

Assists all guests at the Reception, with concentration on non-English speaking guests with their language needs. This position performs various responsibilities related to the international languages support including announcements, translations, presentations for all onboard activities and needs.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to read, write and effectively communicate in any combination of GERMAN, FRENCH, SPANISH, ITALIAN OR PORTUGUESE.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Education:

Associates degree or equivalent in Public Relations and'or Hotel Management from a recognized hotel institution.

Experience:

  • Proficiency in ready, writing and effectively communicating in English plus German, Spanish, French, Italian or Portuguese is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 1~2 years experience in Front office related position in Hotel or hospitality establishment or onboard ships.

Responsibilities:

  • Receives and handles all guests' service inquiries and problem resolution issues at the Front Desk.
  • Responsible for all information at the Reception Desk that pertains to non-English speaking guests.
  • Performs daily, advertised desk hours at the Reception Desk specific for international language assistance.
  • Assists in embarkation, deisembarkation, port talks. Available at Immigration and Customs inspections, etc for assistance with languages.
  • Available to act as translator for guests needing to communicate with shipboard depaertments, including but not limited to, Medical, Security, Revenue outlets, Restaurants and with Senior Management.
  • Performs announcements and the translation & printing of the Freestyle Daily, into the required languages on each cruise. Also supports translations and updates of all printed collateral onboard like menus, shore excursion order forms, etc.
  • Responsible to, and takes necessary action to resolve guest complaints and problems and ensures related management is contacted and involved accordingly.
  • Assists the Cruise Programs department in leading specific activities in the needed languages.

Special Requirements:

Selected applicants will be required to complete translation assessemnt.
