Find out just how easy scuba diving can be by taking an introductory course that will prepare you for a carefree shore dive, after which you can relax on the beach.

After departing from the pier, you will soon arrive at a magnificent beach and become immersed in the world of scuba diving. Scuba is an acronym for “self-contained underwater breathing apparatus” and the legendary Jacques Cousteau was one of its co-inventors.

You will begin with a lesson that covers the basic equipment, rules and safety. Then, an expert dive team will lead you into the crystal-clear waters just offshore. The Caribbean Sea is typically calm and shallow here, ensuring that your dive will be stress-free and enjoyable.

You can expect to observe all sorts of colorful marine life in the wonderland below the surface. You might spot blue-and-yellow French grunts, banded butterfly fish and spotted goatfish. You may even see seahorses, lobsters and conchs.

Following your dive, you will head for the beach, where a sumptuous buffet of Bahamian dishes awaits you. The menu varies but usually includes grilled fish, barbecued meats and plenty of traditional side dishes such as conch fritters and Bahamian peas and rice. An array of beverages including Bahamian beers and cocktails makes the perfect complement.

Before returning to the pier, you might also enjoy other activities such as kayaking, paddle boarding and snorkeling. There is even a Straw Market if you would like to do some shopping.
