Take in the spectacular view from atop crater-shaped Seaongsan Sunrise Rock and then visit a traditional village that reveals the rich culture and heritage of Jeju Island. After departing from the pier, you will settle in for a leisurely 50 minute drive to Seaongsan Sunrise Rock, a crater named in part because it lies on Jeju’s easternmost shore and attracts locals that gather to watch the sunrise. Formed a millennia ago in a series of underwater volcanic eruptions, the crater looks like a crown because 99 jagged rocks surround the top of the huge circular crater. It is so stunning that UNESCO named it a World Heritage Site. You may walk up the stairs leading to the jungle-covered bowl at the top or remain below. Both perspectives offer spectacular views. Seaongsan, which means “castle hill,” was originally an islet but a thin strip of land now connects it to the main island. The crater is an outstanding example of a lava cone and volcanologists continually study it, as do botanists who come for the endemic flora. Next, you will drive inland to a wide plain at the foot of Hallasan Mountain, where you will find the Seongeup Folk Village. Created as an expression of traditional Korean life, the re-created village contains several rock-walled thatched-roofed houses. Other highlights include Confucian shrines, fortress ruins and ancient government buildings. Many of the traditions and even the dialect spoken here have been handed down over the generations. After visiting, you will re-board your coach and travel back to the pier.

You’ll be met at the keeper’s house, located at the base of the Flighthouse by the flight crew who will provide you with a safety orientation, assist with your equipment selection and fitting and a technical flight briefing covering the upcoming flight mission. Once outfitted and briefed, you’ll be transported up to your designated flight deck via the Flighthouse elevator where your adventure begins. This 1,300 ft “Double Beach Superman Run” delivers a major adrenaline experience as you fly racing face down in a “Superman” position at 40 mph! Hike through the rainforest in Huleia National Wildlife Refuge to two spectacular waterfalls, where you may swim in the refreshing pools below. The refuge is closed to the public to protect the endangered species, but you will enjoy special access to this natural wonderland. As you follow a descending trail, the guide will describe the lush flora, which may include wild coffee, lobster claw heliconia and hau trees, the branches of which Hawaiians once used to make outrigger floats. Named for its stand of graceful bamboo, Bamboo Falls is the smaller of the cascades, while Papakolea Falls plummets down more than 60 feet. Both are breathtaking. Challenge your senses and sense of reality in Xenses Park, a fantastic setting where up is down, right is left and nothing is as it appears.

After departing from the pier, you will settle in for a picturesque ride to the mainland and on to Xenses Park. You will then spend the next four hours or so exploring this highly unusual sensory park with all sorts of entertaining activities that are designed to challenge your perceptions and enhance your senses.

Starting at the welcome area, known as the Pinwheel, two different circuits are available. The Consensible Circuit will test your senses in areas such as The Way of the Dwarfs and Giants. Here, you feel small one second and then enormous a moment later. Enter the complete darkness of the Xensatorium and all of your senses but sight will sharpen. Then, there is the Xitric Garden, where you can drink lemonade straight from a faucet in a lemon tree.

The Inconsensible Circuit will play tricks on your sense of balance and reality. You might float down a super-salty river, soar through the air on a zip-line, and meander through a make-believe town where the laws of physics and logic don’t apply. Water will seem to defy gravity, and you may think you are ascending steps but are actually walking down them.

It’s not known exactly why or when pigs were introduced to Grand Bahama, but it will become obvious that their descendants have thrived. Once you wade into the shallow waters, you can expect the pigs to follow, knowing that food awaits. The guide will show you how to feed the pigs and the best ways to interact with them while swimming. The pigs couldn’t be friendlier, cuter or more enthusiastic about the attention. Cruise through the Sea of Cortez on a double-deck catamaran and look for whales breaching the water’s surface. Along the way, you will pass El Arco – the iconic arch-shaped granite formation at the tip of the peninsula – where you will likely see sea lions along the rocky shore. Still, the star attractions are the whales that migrate to breed or give birth. More than a dozen species of whales frequent these waters, including humpbacks, blue whales and gray whales. It is always a breathtaking sight as one of these behemoths comes up for oxygen. Humpbacks are particularly mesmerizing to watch as they acrobatically breach the water’s surface, waving their flukes up and down as they dive. When blue whales surface to exhale, the spray from their blowholes can shoot as high as 30 feet into the air. Observe the wonders underwater through the transparent bottom of your kayak while paddling through the sheltered waters off Ely’s Harbour in the West End. After a brief orientation to ensure that you maximize the experience, you will ease into a two-person kayak and paddle off into the harbor’s typically calm and clear waters. You will glide past shores lined with environmentally friendly mangroves, pause to admire the dramatically eroded cliff known Cathedral Rock and gaze out over Wreck Hill, where the Sea Venture supposedly wrecked in 1609 stranding its English crew and passengers. You may also paddle around the beach-rimmed islands that dot the natural harbor and stop to swim. Even so, the most unusual part of this adventure is watching the marine life through the kayak’s clear bottom. You’ll be transferred to the dolphin facility and upon arrival, attend an informative presentation by the dolphins certified trainers that will prepare you for your dolphin experience.

Now it’s time to meet your dolphin pal! Enter the water outfitted with a life vest and be introduced to a happy, playful dolphin. Touch the dolphin’s soft, smooth skin and listen as it sings. Following a short orientation on how best to operate an ATV in the Alaskan wilderness, you will set off on your outdoor adventure. The entire island (America’s fifth largest) lies within the limits of the 17-million-acre Tongass National Forest, which has the distinction of being America’s largest national forest. The terrain ranges from seaside estuaries to alpine mountain peaks, and you will have plenty of chances to stop and view the gorgeous scenery. With its remote location and limited accessibility, Chichagof is home to some of the animals most often associated with Alaska. In fact, the island has the world’s largest brown bear population, estimated to be three bears per square mile. Snorkel with sea turtles in their natural habitat and swim in the aquamarine waters of a natural sinkhole that formed centuries ago. Green sea turtles are the most prevalent species of turtle in Akumal Bay, a sanctuary of sorts where you will enjoy an up-close underwater view of these magnificent creatures as they gracefully swim by and feed on seagrass along the sandy bottom. Greens are the largest of all hard-shelled sea turtles and typically weigh up to 350 pounds. The turtles are brownish not green as their name comes from the color of the fat beneath their shells. You will also have the opportunity to swim in the Mariposa Cenote, an inland sinkhole created when the limestone on the surface collapsed, exposing the groundwater underneath. The ancient Maya used cenotes as water sources but also believed them to be entrances to the underworld. As such, the pools were considered sacred.

Observe the wonders underwater through the completely transparent hull of a boat and then snorkel the crystal-clear waters for another perspective of the marine life. Unlike boats with only see-through bottoms, this one is almost entirely made of clear polycarbonate resin so there is nothing to block your view of life beneath the sea. Although the enterprise began as a restaurant, in 2014 coffee was planted and it soon became an integral part of the farm’s success, winning awards for the Best Coffee in Puerto Rico. As you tour the hillside plantation, you will learn a bit about the history of coffee – which the Spanish introduced to Puerto Rico in 1736 – and the step-by-step process of producing Hacienda Muñoz’s aromatic signature coffee, which you will sample afterwards. Time will also be allotted for you to browse the gift shop for coffee-related items before sitting down to a multi-course lunch. The reefs off Grand Cayman are teeming with sea life, and you will likely see an abundance of creatures that may include stingrays and sea turtles, especially loggerhead and green turtles as their numbers have dramatically increased in the last two decades. Tropical fish are also plentiful and many of them are easy to identify because of their distinct colors. You might see brilliant blue tangs, neon-colored parrotfish and Spanish hogfish, a species whose colors change as they age. If you spot purple-and-yellow ones, they are juveniles. The shipwreck also attracts huge numbers of fish as it has provided them with a sheltered habitat for decades. Because it lies on the ocean floor just 25 feet below the surface, it offers an excellent, easy-to-reach snorkeling site.

Once your small group of no more than 16 settles into the Jeep, you will follow a trail through Curaçao’s gorgeous interior and on to a spectacularly scenic lookout point on the coast that is only accessible by an off-road vehicle. Continuing on to the other side of the island, you will eventually come to the remains of Fort Beekenburg, which the Dutch built in 1703 to protect Caracas Bay. The fort’s circular tower is made of stones shipped from the Netherlands as ballast. Once you reach Director’s Bay, you can swim and snorkel off the secluded beach. From the pier, you will walk the short distance to the Kayak center where you will receive a safety briefing and kayaking orientation. While there are no certainties regarding what you might observe, humpback whales typically feed along the very same route that you will be traveling. Zip through Placencia Lagoon on a wave runner leaving a rooster tail in your wake and the mainland in your rear view mirror. After watching a short orientation video that will help maximize the experience, you will hop aboard a wave runner and tear off across the lagoon. The ride will be exhilarating from start to finish. To ensure that you see all the sights, a guide will lead the way with the wave runners following more or less caravan-style. The numerous mangrove-rimmed islands that you will spot scattered about are well-protected, as their ecologically important trees filter impurities from the water and stabilize the shoreline. The lagoon’s water is typically smooth enough so you can easily carve your way across the surface without encountering any wakes other than your own.
