From the pier, you will walk the short distance to the Kayak center where you will receive a safety briefing and kayaking orientation. Following that, you will hop in your two-person kayak and begin your adventure. You'll spend nearly two hours paddling about these pristine waters, delighting in the serenity and joy of being out on the water, as well as having the opportunity to observe the bountiful wildlife that inhabits this wilderness area. Your guide will help you spot animals, explain their habits, and offer all sorts of tidbits to maximize your time kayaking along the shoreline. While there are no certainties regarding what you might observe, humpback whales typically feed along the very same route that you will be traveling. You may see one in the distance breaching the water's surface, waving its fluke before diving, or spy hopping, which is when a whale pokes just its head out of the water to look around. Begin your day by traveling by motor coach to the White Pass depot where you will board the train for the 67 mile journey into the Yukon. Take the unforgettable journey aboard the "Scenic Railway of the World" and travel from tidewater past the summit of White Pass, a 2,865 foot elevation, and onto beautiful Bennett Lake. Relax in a vintage rail car as you pass Bridal Veil Falls, Inspiration Point and Dead Horse Gulch --This fully narrated tour features panoramic views of mountains, gorges, waterfalls, tunnels, trestles and historic sites. Accessible only by train, Bennett is the site of an abandoned gold rush town located at the end of the Chilkoot & White Pass trails on the shores of the lake. Upon arrival in Bennett, step off the train and journey back in time as you explore the White Pass historic interpretive center or take a self- guided walking tour up to the church, the views are stunning. The adventure begins with a scenic motorcoach ride along the Klondike Highway, paralleling the route used by prospectors during the 1898 Klondike Gold Rush. You'll ascend to the 3,290-foot White Pass Summit, while you take in the magnificent scenery surrounding you. Your ride continues as you travel just a few miles north to the famous Yukon Suspension Bridge. While at the bridge, experience the sensation of a swaying walkway 57 feet above the rapids of the Tutshi River. Enjoy the scenery from the main platform and then walk through the museum-quality displays that detail the area's unique human and natural history. Next, you will head to Liarsville Gold Rush Trail Camp for a salmon bake buffet. Enjoy wild Alaska salmon grilled over an open wood fire, baked chicken, a variety of salads, beans, rice pilaf, cornbread and dessert while in the destination of the recreated tent city from 1898. After your meal, wander through the Liarsville camp, named for the journalists that reported from the area during the height of the Gold Rush.
