If there is a coffee maker in the room is coffee provided?

Asked by: charl500nel
There is a coffee maker in each cabin on all NCL ships except for Studio, Inside, and Ocean View category staterooms. They include an assortment of complimentary coffees and teas which your stateroom attendant will replenish as you use them.

NCL will make every reasonable effort to provide you with a cruise experience as close as possible to the planned itinerary. If you read the fine print in your cruise contract, however, you will find that they are under no obligation to do so. In cases where weather conditions prevent you from visiting a particular port, the ship usually will just sail in circles for the day. You will be refunded for any shore excursions you have booked through NCL, and you may receive a small compensation for the port fees which you paid, but usually there is no further compensation. If weather conditions prevent the ship from reaching the port of debarkation on the day promised, NCL in the past has offered compensation for you to pay for changes in your flight, and sometimes pays for a night in a hotel if needed to make your connections. If you are concerned that you will be traveling at a time of year and in a location where weather could affect your travel, you should consider purchasing travel insurance. There are a wide variety of plans available. Some are all-inclusive while others offer only token compensation under the most extreme conditions. Read the terms carefully and purchase the plan which best fits your needs, but do not expect NCL, or any other cruise line, airline, or other travel provider, to furnish "rainbows and unicorns" in case of weather delays.

Can you request to sit with the captain one night?

We are celebrating a 50th birthday and would be fun to have dinner with the captain! (on the SUN). If so, how do we go about requesting this?
Asked by: JenniferL
Check with the Guest Services desk on board the ship to make your request known. There are no guarantees that you will be able to have dinner with the Captain, but there usually is an evening when you can have a photo with the Captain. Check your Freestyle Daily newsletter on board for more information.

Are there laundry facilities or a laundry service on board?

Asked by: Rommie
There are no guest laundry facilities on any NCL ship, but laundry and dry cleaning services are available from the ship's laundry at prices comparable to what you would pay at a land-based hotel. The ship also usually offers a laundry special near the middle of each cruise when you can get one entire bag of clothing laundered for a single low price.

Which deck is better book a room on deck 8 or 9?

Asked by: Olneyss
The staterooms on Deck 8 are very similar to those on Deck 9, so there should be little difference between the two. One consideration that may be of importance to you is that the rooms on Deck 9 have other staterooms both above and below them, while Deck 8 staterooms have another stateroom above them but public areas such as the casino underneath them. You may experience unwanted noise from Deck 7 if you book a room on Deck 8.

Does the "Adult" drink package begin once you board prior to sailing or when?

Asked by: AMiller
The beverage package goes into effect as soon as you board the ship on the first day and continues in effect until you disembark the ship at the end of your cruise. Please be aware that even though you may have paid in full for the package as well as all gratuities, some port cities are required to impose state or local taxes on items sold on board while the ship is still in port or in the territorial waters of the port of embarkation. You may see a charge added to your stateroom account for a few dollars if you order a drink before the ship sets sail on embarkation day. Unfortunately it all depends upon the local government regulations, which NCL is required to follow.

Are there any special amenities for Owners Suite or Penthouse Suites (such as early embarkation, designated dinning etc)?

Asked by: OwenN
There will be a check-in line at embarkation that is reserved exclusively for Suite guests. After checking in, guests will be led to a lounge where they can relax until the ship is ready for boarding. Once boarding begins, passengers needing special assistance will the first to board, then Suite guests, followed by general boarding. During the cruise, Suite guests have access to concierge and butler services. Suite guests also enjoy private dining for breakfast and lunch in one of the specialty restaurants.

I am handicapped and will use a scooter on board. Do I need to keep it in the cabin or can I keep it in the hall? Also will it fit in an oceanview?

Need to know what are the restrictions for bringing and using a scooter on board the SUN ??? Can it be left in hallway??? Is an oceanview cabin big enough to keep scooter in? What about a balcony cabin?
Asked by: Aly53
Safety regulations require that all passageways be kept clear, so you should not count on storing your scooter in the hallway. There are a number of staterooms which are designated for use by mobility impaired passengers. They are larger than standard rooms and have wider doors. You may be able change rooms if you contact the NCL Reservations Department directly by telephone.

Are we allowed to decorate our cabin door?

Asked by: nsantillan29
Of the two dozen NCL cruises I have taken, the only one that did not allow door decorations was one that was undergoing a program of refinishing and upgrading the doors while still the ship was still in service. They wanted to leave the doors unadorned so the maintenance workers would have full access. Other than that one time, I never have heard of any objection by NCL to door decorations.

Do all Suite guest have access to the early boarding option and the ability to go to the Suite lounge?

We are on POA and staying in a family suite. I am wondering if we have any other "perks". I read something about breakfast in specialty restaurant locations and early boarding with access to a Suite lounge. Thank you!
Asked by: Eppolito
Passengers traveling in a Suite or in the Haven on any NCL ship are entitled to priority boarding as well as priority access to tenders at those ports where the ship requires them. You also have access to Butler and Concierge services throughout your cruise, reserved seating for shows in the ship's theater, and other benefits. All Suite passengers have exclusive access to a specialty restaurant for breakfast each day and for lunch on embarkation day and days at sea. On the Pride of America this usually will be Cagney's restaurant. On NCL's larger ships, guests booked in the Haven also have an exclusive dining room for dinner each night. Unfortunately this is not available on the PoA. Many NCL ships do have a separate lounge for Haven guests, but there is no separate lounge for Suite guests onboard the PoA.

What time does buffet open for breakfast on NCL Sun?

Asked by: mudriver
It's usually open about 6:30 or 7:00 AM until 10:00. It may open a bit later on days at sea or a little earlier on days when the ship arrives early in port. O'Sheehan's restaurant sometimes opens a half-hour or more before the Garden Buffet, so early risers frequently can get breakfast as early as 5:30 AM. The exact hours will be published the day before in the Freestyle Daily newsletter.

Would like to plan dinner around show times
Asked by: jhavey1
The shows usually are scheduled either for 7:00 and 9:00 or 7:30 and 9:30. The times vary from one ship to another and sometimes from one cruise to another on the same ship. The Cruise Director on board sets the times for all entertainment. Each evening you will receive a copy of the Freestyle Daily newsletter which will list the event schedule for the following day.

Do any of the balcony staterooms have the view obstructed?

Asked by: Bolliver
A few of the Balcony staterooms, mostly those near the front of the ship, have what NCL calls "PrivaSea" balconies. The ocean side of the balcony opening is partially restricted by the hull, which forms a sort of frame or matte around the opening, which is reduced to about four feet high and six feet wide, instead of the full height and width of about eight feet by ten feet. This is done to reduce the effects of wind and sea spray, which especially can affect staterooms near the front of the ship. If you look at the photo of the ship, you can spot these "PrivaSea" balconies on the forward-facing staterooms and the first few rooms near the bow. None of the other staterooms on board have a restricted view.

when it lists "dining pkg" as one of your free options (when you take all 5) which one do you get? i can't find the number of dinners included.

It just says pkg and doesn't list number of meals

It depends on the length of your cruise. With a cruise of a week in length you receive three dinners in specialty restaurants. Cruises of one to two weeks get four specialty restaurant meals, while those of two weeks or more get five.
