Visit the bustling metropolis of Sao Paolo, a true melting pot, on this full day tour that showcases several of its landmark sites. Not only is the city known for having the largest population in Brazil, it also boasts some of the country’s tallest buildings.

Departing the port at Santos, you will leave the coastal area and follow the Anchieta Highway to Sao Paulo. The city is located on a plateau, 2,200 feet above sea level, which is reached by crossing the Serra do Mar mountain pass. The alpine-like, winding road offers stunning scenery.

After reaching the plateau, you will drive to some of the city's landmarks, which includes a stop at the Ipiranga Monument on Sao Paulo's outskirts, erected in commemoration of Brazil's independence. You will also visit the Pinacoteca of the State of Sao Paulo, a well-preserved architectural monument from the beginning of the 20th century with classical marble columns mingling with brick walls.

Your tour continues with a sightseeing drive through the downtown area for panoramic views and historic sites, including the Municipal Theater, the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Patio do Colegio, where the Jesuitas founded the city in 1554. Next, experience an authentic churrascaria, Brazilian barbecue, with a large selection of barbecued meats, salads, desserts, mineral water and coffee.

Following lunch, you will continue with your sightseeing drive through Sao Paulo's main thoroughfare, Paulista Avenue, located in Ibirapuera Park. The park features such attractions as the Pioneer's Monument, the Obelisk and the Legislative Assembly building. From here, you will begin your return journey to Santos and the ship.

Need to Know:

Note: The drive to Sao Paulo is approximately 75 minutes and while the tour includes some moderate walking at the stops, it is mainly a panoramic coach tour of the city's main points of interest. The tour is available to wheelchair guests who have a collapsible wheelchair, are able to make their own way on and off the coach and have an able-bodied companion to assist them. Those with mobility concerns are cautioned to carefully evaluate their personal level of stamina and ability. Light-weight clothing and flat, comfortable walking shoes are suggested. Please be advised that the quality of the guides and equipment in this destination may not be of the same quality as that found in other more progressive areas. While the city of Sao Paulo has some interesting features that world-travelers will find of interest, the tourist infrastructure is limited and may not appeal to all of our guests. Additionally, it is not uncommon to encounter significant traffic delays within Sao Paulo which on occasion, may require an alteration of the tour itinerary and reduction in the number of sites viewed or visited. The Pinacoteca is closed on Tuesdays and during Carnival and will be replaced with the Foundation Oscar Americano.
