See the highlights of Tromso as you head out to your destination – Sommaroy Island – along a scenic winding road. Cross the Sandnessund Bridge that connects the city of Tromso with Kvaloya Island. En route, you’ll pass by several cultural monuments that bear witness to a rich history, as well as several old farms. You can follow the jagged mountain peaks on the northern side of Senja Island, as they rise straight up from the ocean. Then you’ll arrive idyllic Sommaroy Island – Tromso’s largest fishing village with a population of about 300.
Enjoy a guided tour of this vibrant coastal community, where fishing and hunting has been the livelihood since time immemorial. The views are stunning - large Senja Island in the south, the coastal landscapes in the north and the endless ocean in the west. During your visit you’ll learn about life on the island, and you’ll be served a typical Norwegian treat of tasty waffles at a local restaurant. Your return drive to Tromso, will take you along the narrow Kattfjord offering views of the highest peak on Kvaloya Island.
