BASIC PURPOSE: Ensures efficient cleaning and sanitation of assigned workstation (i.e. pot wash, glass wash, dish wash, galley area) within the Food & Beverage operation onboard according to USPH / FDA / SEMS guidelines.

Conditions :

PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS: - While performing the essential functions of this job, all team members are required to stand; walk long distances on the ship; use hands to touch, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear and taste or smell. - All vessel positions require repetitive motion of bending, climbing, going up and down stairs and lifting more than 25 pounds. - This job requires specific vision abilities to include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. - All team members must be physically able to participate in emergency life saving procedures and drills. - All vessel positions require full use and range of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency including the lowering of lifeboats. - Work within different temperature changes-indoors to outdoors. - Able to pass basic safety course. - This is a minimal description of duties. Other work requirements may be necessary and assigned as business or maritime law dictates.

Education:

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

Experience:

6 months related dishwashing experience in a hotel / institutional establishment or restaurant environment. Experience in the operation of large industrial kitchen washing machinery is preferred.

Responsibilities:

- Operation & ongoing maintenance cleaning of large industrial dish / glass washing machinery, food pulp machines / grinders, cleaning of grease traps & correct garbage separation as per USPH / FDA & SEMS guidelines. - Deep cleaning & ongoing cleaning maintenance of all galley areas & food preparation equipment to USPH / FDA / SEMS standards & requirements. - Transportation of sealed correctly sorted garbage to the garbage room. - Meet USPH / FDA standards in the cleanliness & sanitation of all equipment after coming into the washing stations for processing. - Enter dish / glass wash machine, 3 sink system temperature levels throughout the day on USPH / FDA / SEMS approved logs. - Monitor performance of all galley sanitation machinery, reporting any malfunctions or deterioration during operation to the Second Sanitation Supervisor. - Set up / breakdown of galley equipment on the open deck or shore side for special F&B activities. - Completes any special duty requests given by superiors. - Follows safe work habits and conforms to SEMS policies & procedures concerning the use & wearing of PPE. - Notifies supervisors of any dangerous or unsafe places in the work area. - Make frequent suggestions to direct supervisor in order to raise standards & awareness. - Follow all sanitation SOP’s required by the company. - Take part in all USPH inspections in the area assigned. - Must be familiar with the Safety and Environmental Protection policy and SEMS; carry out the policies and procedures appropriate or his/her position. - Perform other duties as assigned

Special Requirements:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) requires all crew members employed with NCL America aboard the Pride of America to hold a Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC). In order to qualify for a MMC, applicants must demonstrate the following physical abilities necessary to perform shipboard duties per USCG guidelines (COMPDTPUB 16700.4 NVIC 04-8). If the applicant has a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 40.0 or higher, or if the verifying medical practitioner doubts the applicants ability to successfully perform any of the following functions, a suitable practical demonstration is required for those functions. The verifying medical practitioner, in consultation with any other qualified practitioners he/she deems appropriate, determines whether a practical demonstration is necessary, and whether the applicant is physically competent or not physically competent. • Is able to maintain a sense of balance without disturbance while walking and standing • Is able to climb up and down vertical ladders and stairways • Is able to step over a door sill or coaming up to 24 inches in height • Is able to move through a restricted opening of 24 inches by 24 inches • Is able to open and close watertight doors that weigh up to 55 pounds. Must be able to move hands/arms in vertical and horizontal directions, rotate wrists and reach above shoulder height to turn handles • Is able to lift at least a 40 pound load off the ground, and to carry, push or pull the same load • Is able to grasp and manipulate common tools such as wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers and pliers • Is able to crouch, kneel and crawl • Is able to distinguish differences in texture and temperature by feel • Is able to intermittently stand on feet for up to four hours with minimal rest periods • Is able to react to visual alarms and instructions • Is able to react to audible alarms and instructions • Is capable of normal conversation • Is able to pull an uncharged 1.5 inch diameter, 50' fire hose with nozzle to full extension, and to lift a charged 1.5 inch diameter fire hose to firefighting position • Is physically able to put on a Personal Flotation Devise (PFD) without assistance from another individual • Has no physical limitations that would hinder or prevent the performance of duties Send Us Your Resume
