City Lights & Empire State Building
Experience the "City That Never Sleeps" after dark, when New York is at its most vibrant, by ascending the Empire State Building and spending free time in energetic Times Square.
Depart from the pier and begin a mesmerizing drive, taking in the kaleidoscope of sights along the way. The whole city will be illuminated from the bright lights of Broadway to the Art Deco-style Chrysler Building to the iconic Brooklyn Bridge, whose cables are strung with twinkling white lights. After crossing the East River, you'll stop at historic Fulton Landing, where famed inventor Robert Fulton began a steamboat ferry service between Manhattan and Brooklyn. The landing presents New York's illuminated skyline in all its glory.
Continuing on to midtown, you'll drive to the Empire State Building, which soars more than a quarter of a mile above Manhattan. After ascending to the 86th-floor observatory, you'll enjoy an absolutely stunning view of the city. The lights below are truly dazzling, as are the Empire State Building's tower lights, whose colors often change to reflect hues associated with certain holidays, events or even countries that may be newsworthy.
Then it's on to Times Square, the "Crossroads of the World," which may well be New York's most iconic nighttime location. The neon lights, wonderfully crowded streets and palpable energy are truly invigorating, and you'll have approximately an hour to explore on your own. Afterwards, you'll return to the pier.
