Segway Old Town and Playa Mia Beach Break
hrs Estimate Duration
Drive an electric Segway through El Cedral, site the island’s oldest Mayan ruins, and then relax at a gorgeous beach-oriented water park.
After departing from the pier, you will enjoy a scenic ride to the Segway facility in El Cedral, site of the oldest Mayan ruins on the island of Cozumel. Here, you will receive a brief orientation on how to operate one of these two-wheeled, electric vehicles. It’s really quite easy and intuitive. Lean forward to go forward, lean backward to go backward and steer with the handlebar, much like steering a bicycle.
You will have time to practice operating your Segway before riding to the ruins, which include the stone arch of a Mayan temple. Built around 800 A.D., El Cedral was later damaged by the Spanish conquistadors and again when an airport was built during World War II. Even so, the vestiges of the ancient civilization are worth a look.
Leaving your Segway behind, you will then drive to Playa Mia Grand Beach & Water Park, a seaside attraction that offers access to a wealth of fun activities. Here, you are free to enjoy the seemingly endless amenities and do whatever interests you most.
You might read a bestseller in the shade of an umbrella with a cool drink in hand, or simply stroll down the shoreline with nothing on your mind but relaxation. There are also plenty of hammocks for a leisurely siesta and foam mats if you wish to float in the sea.
