    Antilla Wreck Snorkel & Beach Getaway

    Highlights of Cartagena & Folkloric Show

    Start your tour of the beautiful city of Cartagena with a photo stop at San Felipe de Barajas Fortress, situated outside the walled city and considered the largest Spanish fort in the New World. Continue to the Old City and wander through narrow cobblestone streets and squares while you admire the Colonial architecture, balconies and old churches. Your next stop will be the Inquisition Palace.


    Enjoy a folkloric show during your visit to the Navy Museum which was established in 1986. Here, you’ll find historic military efforts of Cartagena, see the wealth of historical artifacts, maritime life and naval history of Colombia. A bottle of water or soft drink will be served upon arrival at the museum. Before returning to your ship, enjoy panoramic sightseeing through Bocagrande, the modern part of the city.

    Nim Li Punit with Lunch

    Harvest Caye, Belize

    Depart from the Malacate Pier on your air-conditioned bus for a scenic one hour bus ride to the picturesque archaeological site of Nim Li Punit, or "Large Hat". Nim Li Punit is in the Mayan Kekchi language. This is the name given to this site, due to a depiction on a stela of one of its rulers wearing a very large head-dress. This unique Mayan ceremonial site was built on a hillside overlooking the fertile Toledo low-lands where crops were grown to feed the Mayan rulers that occupied this temple. Here at this well-maintained site, there is a small museum and welcoming center where you can observe some of the large stelas and artifacts that have been preserved. Nim Li Punit, also boasts a well-preserved ball-court in the center of the complex and a Mayan observatory is also located within one of the various plazas. This entire site is canopied over with large trees, providing a shady comfortable environment for viewing this interesting and beautiful archaeological site.


    After your tour you will head to the Big Falls Outpost for a warm welcome, a delicious and a traditional Belizean lunch. Here you will be able to purchase various local drinks, and souvenirs.


    It's now time to head back to your ship docked at Harvest Caye, it's been an interesting, fun and educational adventure, one filled with Mayan history and an excellent overview of Belize's natural wonders.

    Quebrada Valencia Ecological Expedition

    Santa Marta, Colombia

    Marvel at the unique ecology within the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta National Park as you walk through the forest to its spectacular Quebrada Valencia waterfalls.


    Depart from the pier and drive east toward the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta National Park, a massive piece of land containing part of the world’s highest coastal mountain range. The mountains are the source of the Quebrada Valencia River and countless other streams that wind through the pristine countryside. The park is so revered for its ecosystem and cultural content that UNESCO declared it a Biosphere Reserve of Man and Humanity.


    Upon arriving, you will begin a guided walk through the forest and over rocky terrain into a land still inhabited by several indigenous Indian tribes. Wildlife abounds, including Sierra parrots, tapirs and Paramo deer. A variety of exotic flora also flourishes, and you may pass in the shadow of towering wax palms and ceiba de leche trees.


    It takes approximately a half hour to reach the waterfalls, and it’s well worth the effort. Emerging from the dense forest, the cascading waterfalls from the Quebrada Valencia River form a series of small, crystal-clear pools. The tropical setting couldn’t be lovelier or more serene. You will enjoy approximately one hour here to relax and wander about as you please, perhaps taking a dip in the refreshing waters. Tropical birds abound here so you may see some squawking in the treetops above. Afterwards, you will retrace your route back to the pier.


    Need to Know:

    Note: This tour includes approximately 1-hour of moderate to strenuous walking, plus any additional at the guests’ discretion during time at the waterfalls. There will be uneven and natural terrain to negotiate as well as some inclines and steps. Standing at the waterfalls will also be on uneven, natural surfaces and could be slippery if wet. If there has been significant rain, it will be necessary to cross running water that can be knee-deep. The tour is not available to wheelchair guests or those with mobility concerns. Participants should be in good physical condition. Light-weight clothing; swim suit worn under clothing for those who wish to swim at the waterfall; sun cap; sunglasses; a bottle of water and a towel from the ship; and flat, comfortable hiking/walking shoes with a non-slip sole that can get wet are recommended. Those who choose to take part in any water activities do so at their own risk and responsibility.

    Flor de Caña Rum Distillery

    Kralendijk, Bonaire

    Savor the flavors of Bonaire on this tour that showcases both the natural and man-made beauty of the island. After a drive through Kralendijk, you’ll travel along the scenic route up the coast for views of the ocean, huge candelabra cacti and mesquite trees. If you look to the west, you'll no doubt see the small and uninhabited island of Klein Bonaire. Continue on to Goto Lake, a natural salt water lake and a feeding ground for the island's shy pink flamingos. Ride along narrow tree-lined country lanes which will bring you to Dos Pos (Two Wells), a natural drinking well for animals.


    You’ll head into the heart of island towards the picturesque Rincon Valley, once home to the Arawak Indians. After explorer Amerigo Vespucci landed here in 1499, they were forced into slavery and taken to plantations in Hispaniola.


    Later, slaves were brought here from Africa to work on the ranches and in the salt fields. As you drive through the village, your guide will point out sites of interest. You’ll be able to get a taste of the island with a visit to the popular outdoor venue, where you sample locally produced Cactus liqueur.


    Continue your drive along the stunning east coast for views of the ocean and then travel south to the salt flats and mountains. Along the way your guide will explain how salt is produced today and how it was mined by the slaves in the 19th century. Visit the original slave huts which were used as shelters for the slaves working in the salt pans and see the cone shaped white salt mountains before, heading back to your cruise ship pier.

    Ke’kchi Chocolate & Culture

    Depart from the Malacate Pier on your air-conditioned bus for a scenic 60 minute ride. Pass through the village of Mango Creek which began as a sawmill settlement in the 1940's and still has unpaved streets, then it's onto Belize's hinter lands, where you will observe the panoramic vista of the ancient Mayan Mountains. You will also pass several quaint Ke'kchi Mayan villages as well as pine and hardwood forest reserves on the way to the Akte'il Ha Cacao Farm.


    Learn how the Ke'kchi hand craft chocolate the traditional way from the pod to the bar. You will have a tour of the organic chocolate farm and go through the chocolate making process. Observe the hand grinding of the cacao beans and taste the chocolate in its various forms.


    You will then head to the Big Falls Outpost for a welcome respite and your delicious Belizean lunch, here you will be able to purchase drinks, and get souvenirs of your time here in Belize.


    Reboard your bus for the second part of your journey, to visit the Living Ke'kchi Maya Experience. An authentic Ke'kchi home that offers guest a fascinating glimpse into a rapidly disappearing world of the traditional Ke'kchi Mayan.     Mayan Culture & Medicine Trail

    Come join us for an educational tour of an authentic Mayan Cultural experience and watch a renowned Mayan Shaman conjure medicine from jungle plants. Board your air-conditioned bus for an approximate 45 minute ride to an authentic Mayan village, located at the entrance to the famous Cockscomb Jaguar Reserve. This quaint Mayan village is home to a very gifted Mayan Shaman, Aurora Garcia Saqui. Artist, herbalist and traditional healer, she is a direct descendant of the world renowned Mayan Healer, Don Elijio Panti. Don Elijio bequeathed to Aurora much of his knowledge while she served as his apprentice for many years.


    Begin your traditional medicine journey, with a guided walk along a canopied jungle path used by the Maya to gather their medicinal plants and herbs. Along this tropical rainforest path, you will encounter many of the same plants Aurora uses in the traditional herbal remedies that she utilizes in her healing clinic. As you slowly walk along the trail, your knowledgeable Mayan guide will point out and explain many of these unique medicinal plants and trees.


    You will have a unique opportunity to experience first-hand the making of a Mayan herbal remedy by Aurora, she will explain the herb and its medicinal properties as she prepares and grinds it with a hand mill. You will also see a "smudge house", various bark and leaves used in curing many different illnesses, traditional dance costume and much more. You will also have an opportunity to sample the renowned Mayan Cocoa drink.
