We are in room 9886. Is this a good location or should we try to upgrade?

Asked by: StephD
Personally I've never had issues with the rooms I've stayed in but at the same time I avoid staying around noisy areas like the theater, clubs etc. Deck 8 is a public area and has the Caravan club.

Can we purchase a week long package for the race track?

Asked by: Buckey
Yes, on week-long cruises you can purchase a pass which provides unlimited use of the race track during the track's posted hours of operation. Each time you complete a race you will be required to exit your vehicle and go to the back of the line if anyone else is waiting to drive, so the pass does not provide continuous use or "line skipping." The pass is cost effective if you plan to drive the cars an average of at least twice per day throughout a seven day cruise.

Do I need to request ahead of time for a vegan diet? If not are the vegan menu choices very limited?

Asked by: Bpdoro
Yes, you should contact your travel agent or the NCL Reservations Department at least a month before your cruise to make them aware of your request. The FAQ section of this website has this info on special diet requests: If you have any food allergy or a dietary requirement that requires Kosher meals or gluten-free food product, please advise a Norwegian Reservations Agent, or your Travel Agent at the time of booking. Obtaining the product for many of these requests requires 30-days notice prior to sailing, and we want to ensure that we are able to fulfill your request. We cannot guarantee Kosher Meal requests made within 30 days of sail date. For the protection of all of our guests, it is not permissible to bring aboard any food items that would require preparation by the ship’s staff, or food items that would require cold storage in our kitchen facilities.

are towels available in your room and for the pool?

Asked by: kellyk
Yes, your stateroom attendant will bring you fresh bath towels, hand towels, and face cloths each day. You will find beach towels in your room which you can take to the ship's pool or spa. You also can take them ashore with you if you want them for a day at the beach. You can drop off used beach towels at the towel exchange near the pool and pick up fresh ones.

I will be in a Sutio room. I understand that there is no coffee maker. Can I bring one?

Asked by: Tobby
A coffee maker would take up a lot of room in your suitcase, and it likely would raise some questions at the security checkpoint, but it probably would not be confiscated. There shouldn't be a need to bring one, though, since one feature of the Studio staterooms is exclusive access to the Studio Lounge. Coffee is available there all day long.

religious service on board? use of the chapel?

my husband is a protestant minister and since we will be on board for more than a week, is there any way to let people know he could or would have services? who do we contact and how?
Asked by: EJAtravel
There are some meeting rooms on Deck 6 which can be used for religious services. Unlike some other ships in the NCL fleet, however, the Deck Plans for the Bliss do not indicate a chapel on board. You may want to contact the NCL Reservations Department prior to your cruise. Someone there should be able to direct your call to the appropriate department (I believe they call it Group Services) so you can make your request known. Once on board your ship you should speak to someone at the Guest Services desk on Deck 6. They can reserve a room for you and advise you about placing a notice in the Freestyle Daily newsletter.

can i make dinner reservations in advance?

Asked by: kylie3
Yes. Log into your MyNCL account and follow the links to the information on your upcoming cruise. You can make reservations for specialty restaurants on any ship as well as for entertainment on the larger ships such as the Bliss. If you do not have a MyNCL account or prefer not to make reservations online, you also can call the Reservations Department at NCL and make them by phone.

Can you bring your own bottles of wine?

Asked by: catnappin
Yes, you may. You will be charged a corkage fee for each bottle, however, regardless of whether you drink it in your stateroom, in a bar or restaurant, or even if you do not open it during your cruise. If you purchase alcohol at an intermediate port, the crew will hold it in a secure location until the end of the cruise and then return it to you just before you leave the ship. In that case no corkage fee will be charged.

Cabin electricity-for the cabin electric outlets to come on, do I have to insert my cabin keycard (or other type card) into a slot on the wall ?

On the NCL Breakaway, I had to insert the cabin keycard in order for the electric to come on. When leaving the cabin, had to remove the keycard, and electric went off while not in the cabin.
Asked by: Maggiec917
The Bliss is similar in design to the Breakaway, including the feature you describe about the key card. As it was explained to me on a recent cruise, it is done as a safety precaution to ensure that an unattended electrical device would not malfunction and cause a hazard without someone being in the room to notice the problem. There is a way to overcome or defeat any safety measure, of course, including this one. If you have an additional card of a similar size and thickness, you can insert it into the slot by the door to keep the lights and outlets on. It is not recommended that you do this, although it is possible.

What should I expect on the Joy headed to the Mexican rivera in December.

How many kids will there be? How many people will be on it? What will the weather be like so I know how to pack? What should I expect? I have been on the bliss know what about the Joy? Thanks for the input :}
Asked by: duckshockeycruiser8
The number of kids onboard the ship depends on the time you are travelling. If you are sailing when school is not in session, you won't see too many kids. During summer vacation and Christmas break you will see a lot of kids onboard the ship. As far as the weather is concerned, I suggest checking any weather related website. All of them will give you a average temperature of the time of the year you are travelling. As you get closer, you can get more detailed forecast. Here's the link on what to pack http://www.ncl.com/freestyle-cruise/prepare-for-your-cruise/what-to-pack http://www.ncl.com/faq#packing

Is there a captains night held on the norweigian bliss going to alaska on a 7 day cruise

Asked by: Aldrico
NCL ships usually schedule one or two nights per cruise when the Captain will be available for photos with guests. This usually is on the "Dress Up Or Not" night, when passengers are encouraged to dress in their finest, although formal attire is not required. Passengers who have traveled frequently with NCL are entitled to dinner with a ship's officer on each cruise. The officer may be the Captain, but frequently it is the Chief Engineer, General Manager, or some other senior officer. Of the almost 20 NCL ship's officers with whom I have had the privilege of dining, only twice has it been with the Captain.

For Alaska cruise on the Bliss, is there a nature/wildlife expert lecture?

Asked by: Cousintjc
We just took an Alaska cruise on the Joy, a sister ship to the Bliss. We sailed from Seattle, as does the Bliss, on a similar itinerary. We did not have a naturalist or wildlife expert on board. It is likely that the Bliss does not, either.

How are you charged when drinking in a bar?

Are u charged by each drink or run a tab.....the tip is included in the charge? So 20% each drink or each tab?
Asked by: Geegee0704
If you have purchased one of the beverage packages, or have received it as part of a promotional offer, your stateroom key card will display a code which indicates that you have the beverage package. When a bartender or waiter sees that code they will fill your drink order without charge, since you already paid for the package when you booked your cruise. There is no limit on the number of drinks you may order during the cruise, but you only can order two at a time and you will be charged for any price difference if you select a drink that is priced above the limit per drink. If you have not chosen one of the beverage packages, each drink you order, plus a tip, will be charged to your on-board stateroom account. At the end of the cruise all of the charges for beverages, shore excursions, gift shop purchases, etc will be added up and a single charge will be billed to your credit card.

Haven Embarkation Times

When I booked the Haven I saw that there was no set time to embark. So my question is: what's my embarkation window for a 5pm sailing? I assume I should be on board no later than 4pm, but how early can I arrive?
Asked by: James1974
The check-in counters at the cruise terminal usually open about 11:00 AM. NCL designates check-in times for guests in an effort to spread out the arrival times of passengers. This helps avoid the long lines that would occur if everyone arrived at the same time. Unlike most guests, those traveling in the Haven, as well as passengers who have traveled often enough with NCL to reach the upper levels of the Latitudes Program, do not receive an assigned check-in time, but are free to arrive at any time they choose. NCL does require that you begin the check in process at least two hours prior to the scheduled departure time, but otherwise you may arrive at the cruise terminal at your own discretion. There will be a separate check-in line for the exclusive use of passengers traveling in the Haven. Look for Haven signage after you drop off your bags and pass through the security checkpoint. Once you complete your check-in, you will be guided to a lounge where you may relax until the concierge escorts you on board. Boarding usually begins about noon and Haven guests are among the first to be allowed to embark. Once on board you will be offered a tour of the Haven facilities and given a chance to enjoy lunch in the Haven restaurant while your stateroom attendant finishes preparing your cabin for your arrival.

Can I bring my mini Keurig

Can I bring my own machine and K cups
Asked by: Dexter55
There are no restrictions on getting your own coffee machine and K cups. If you are staying in a balcony or higher class of staterooms, there is a small coffee maker in your room that takes coffee pods that make about 4 cups. It would be easier for you to carry coffee pods of your favorite brand of coffee.
