Is there priority boarding at the pier (embarkation) for Latitude members, or is priority boarding only for Haven and above guests?

Asked by: vickib706
Latitudes members who have reached the Platinum level are allowed to board immediately after special-needs guests and those traveling in the Haven have been permitted to board. All other guests are issued a boarding group number and are allowed on board when their group is called.

when given a free specialty dinner are appetizers and drinks free also

Asked by: ShellyF
There are several ways to receive a "free" dinner in a specialty restaurant, and the terms for each of them are different. The most common scenario occurs when you select the specialty dining package as one of your Free At Sea options. Although the cost of the meal is included without additional charge to your cruise fare, a mandatory gratuity will be added to your account. With this option, most waiters will allow you to select multiple appetizers or desserts, but you will be limited to just one main course. Beverages such as coffee, tea, milk and water are included at no charge, but sodas and alcoholic beverages incur a charge unless you also have a beverage package. Frequent passengers who have reached the Platinum level in the Latitudes program receive certificates during each cruise of a week or more which are good for two free dinners in select specialty restaurants. One of these is redeemable in Le Bistro or Cagney's and includes a bottle of wine. Other alcohol incurs a cost for those who do not have a beverage package. When using these certificates in the past, we have been told that they only provide one appetizer, one main course, and one dessert. Substitutions are not allowed. Occasionally a ship's officer will invite a passenger to join them for dinner. Platinum Plus members of the Latitudes program can expect this to happen on every cruise, but it also happens for other passengers sometimes. More than half of the times we have enjoyed dinner with an officer it has taken place in one of the main dining rooms, but we also have had dinner in Cagney's and Le Bistro. When joining an officer for dinner there is no limit on the number of appetizers or desserts, and the wine is included at no charge.

Yes, all NCL ships will make the broadcast of the Super Bowl available, usually both on the stateroom TVs as well as a big-screen broadcast in the atrium, a lounge, or the auditorium.

Will there be a New Year's Celebration on the Epic?

We are sailing over New Years on the Epic. Will there be a party?
Asked by: jaysmelvin
This is super late, but for other people who ask for next year, yes, there are normally several parties all around the ship broadcasting live to each other with a countdown and complimentary sparkling wine. Just leave your cabin and you will be sure to find a party.

Epic 7 nights leaving from San Juan, At what time is the mandatory Safety meeting, I want to make dinner reservations

Asked by: Gelyrn
The passenger muster drill is normally one hour before the scheduled departure time. For departures from San Juan scheduled for 9pm however, the muster drill is normally at 5pm. Also, the restaurants will not let you make dinner reservations for a time that is during the drill as they will be closed for the duration of the drill.

Do Mini-Suite guests have to pay for Room Service?

Asked by: TammyG
Unfortunately, yes they do. The Mini-Suite category actually is just a larger version of a Balcony stateroom. It is not considered a Suite for purposes of allocating amenities.

I have cruise booked in Feb. What can I expect? Less capacity. No buffet. No shows. Etc etc.

Asked by: EdFlorida43
Based on the information which NCL has released so far, it is likely that the ships may be sailing at less than full capacity at that time. The buffet no longer will be self-serve, with staff serving all portions. It is possible that the buffet may be converted into a restaurant with fixed meals, but that seems unlikely. You should still be able to choose individual items. They just will be served to you instead of you serving yourself. The other restaurants may have some seating removed to spread the tables farther apart. There will still be shows, but some of the theater seats may be removed or blocked to promote social distancing. It is likely that face masks will be required at times and that frequent hand washing will be encouraged.

Only Haven staterooms come with concierge service. Mini-Suite cabins are essentially just larger Balcony rooms, without any of the additional amenities of a Suite or the Haven.

Check out time?

The ship arrives back to original port at 8:00 AM. My flight is not until 3:00 PM. How long can you stay on the ship?
Asked by: Wentzel
Passengers are required to exit the ship within about two hours after arrival in port so the crew can make the ship ready for the passengers on the following cruise to board. You should plan to be off the ship by 10:00 AM.

What is the bathroom like in the mini suite and is it enclosed

Asked by: Kball
You can see the floor plan as well as sample photos of Mini-Suite staterooms by clicking on the "Staterooms" link above. A Mini-Suite is essentially a slightly larger Balcony stateroom. Like other staterooms on the Epic, there really isn't a separate bathroom. The toilet is enclosed in a frosted glass compartment on one side of the cabin door, while the tub is in another glass enclosure on the other side of the doorway.

Any advice on how to avoid long lines on the ship for activities?

Asked by: N8theGr8
You can avoid lines at shows and dinner by making reservations. Other than that, the best suggestion I can offer is to observe when others tend to line up for activities that interest you, then plan to take part in those things at off-hour times. Unfortunately, on a ship this large, you usually will encounter long lines for popular events at prime times.

I am aware of special events (white night RCL, orange night HAL). Is there a special theme night that can happen on NCL?

I read in previous answer that cruise directors decide and announce these events on the cruise. But if NCL has special colour nights that may be announced, i would like to be prepared and pack accordingly.
Asked by: Rinnie
The Glow Party is the signature event on NCL ships. It used to be called the White Party, and guests still are encouraged to wear all white to the party, but it is not required.

Embarkation Day

We are to check in between 2-3 on embarkation day, however the ship doesn't leave until 9pm. Once we are checked in can we leave the ship again?
Asked by: Kcfaye
Yes, you can, but in most cases it is not recommended. You will need to be on board for the mandatory safety muster drill, which usually takes place in the afternoon shortly before sailing. That would leave you with only a couple of hours either before or after the drill, which probably is not enough time to get from the port to the city and back and still leave you an appreciable amount of time to tour the city.

A couch
Asked by: Mmmmmmnnnnnnnn
Unfortunately, no. There is no sofa in an Inside stateroom. You can click on the "Staterooms" link above to view a floor plan and sample photos of Inside rooms. The rooms are small, with little extra floor space. In addition to the bed, there are small bedside tables plus a dressing table with a chair or stool.

What is the earliest you can board the ship on the first day?

We arrive in Miami before noon and the ship does not leave port until 4:00 PM. I see where you must be at the port terminal 1 hour before departure, but can you board earlier?
Asked by: Wentzel
The check-in process usually begins about 11:00 or 11:30 AM, with boarding beginning about noon. If you check your cruise documents (eDocs) you should see an arrival time which NCL has assigned to you. It is not a mandatory time, but rather a suggestion meant to spread out the arrival times of all the guests to keep the waiting times to a minimum. Depending upon when you arrive for check-in, it is possible that you may be on board by noon or soon after. Several of the restaurants on board will be open for lunch on embarkation day. The latest time that you can arrive at the cruise terminal and reasonably expect to get through the check-in process in time to board would be one hour prior to departure. NCL recommends that all guests be at the pier not later than two hours before departure in case there are delays.

Are there volleyball nets anywhere on board?

Are there volleyball nets anywhere on board? Do people play volleyball in the pool?
Asked by: JZubes
There is a sports court on Deck 17, aft. It usually is set up for basketball, but you can contact a member of the Cruise Director's staff once you are on board to see if you can reserve a time for volleyball. There are no water volleyball nets in any of the pools, and I have never seen passengers hitting a volleyball while in a pool.

Are the aft facing balconies covered overhead?

Asked by: Rodgers
They are partially covered by the balcony of the stateroom above. The rear of the ship is stair-stepped in shape, so most of the rear-facing balconies do have at least a bit of open air above them.

Does the Epic have a laundromat available to customers?

Asked by: JBUTTS
None of NCL's ships include a laundry facility which is accessible to passengers. Laundry service is available on board, however, at prices comparable to what you might expect to pay at a land-based hotel. The ship also will offer a laundry special near the middle of your cruise when you can have one full bag of clothing laundered for a single low price.
